Here's a vintage cigar ad i noticed for an american brand of smokes called Tipalet..don't you think its just a little bit sexist?..I doubt any cigarette company like B&H would get away with something like this these days.

"Blow in here face and she'll follow you anywhere" that just cracked me up!

I think nowadays it's more the case of "blow in her face and she'll kick your ass!"

As long as they are being sold they will find a way..the main way being though shop-front and point of sale advertising.

@fatreg
Yeah, but I think all the teams stopped advertising way before, for example McLaren stopped advertising West ages ago, like 1/2 years ago...

MotoGP on the otehr hand, they still have brands such as Camel, etc, Surely this should be stopped as well...

I dn't personally feel beer advertisement is too bad, the risks of beer in most situations in fine, but smoking will cause damage, if you see what I mean...

@ SE rules.

nope any sport that requires you to be at a fitter level than your average joe bloggs will not be allowed to advertise cigs. so all motorsports will be under that umbrella.

I'm a smoker and i feel all this banning of this and that is a bit too much.....

smokers will smoke regardless of advertising or not.

Its a bit off topic so i think i'll leave that one for the The Smokers Thread as we should stick with rights and wrongs of advertiseing here.

Hmmm, what else is there which is controversially advertised?.....

I know!

Toy adverts, you know the ones on the kid's channels; Cartoon Network, etc

They're terrible, not only do the hype the product up to be asome kind of wonder toy, theres always some sort of sly twist such as "you'll be the coolest in your school", or along the lines of "prove you're a decent parent", its despicable. I mean, I don't have kids or anything (I'm 19 thank god! ), but my baby sister is always like "Oh can I have that, oh can I have this!", and the companies know wht they're doing the clever bast**ds!

Any more thoughts?

Cheers

As a smoker of cigars, I can relate to the advertisment. Its all about the smell of a cigar and this advertisment is trying to relate to that. I like it but it is only worng when you think of it in a sexual way, but to be honest I think its acceptable but thats maybe just me and how i like the smell of cigars.
