I've just sold my old K750 on eBay, Buy It Now.
I got the "eBay Item Sold" email through from eBay, which listed the buyers ID and email address - a bloke called Andy.
Underneath was the Buyer's postal address, however, this was of a woman called Emma in Herongate, Essex. Underneath it had a note saying "(Please confirm with buyer that the address is correct)"
2 minutes later, I got an "Notification of an Instant Payment Received " email from Andy's email address (same as the eBay one). It had his name, eBay ID, and email address all the same as the email from eBay.
However, the PayPal payment email gave a different 'Confirmed' Delivery Address, for Andy in Southampton.
I checked with "My eBay", and the Southampton name & address was listed in the Sold Listing Sales Record.
The buyer has 100% Feedback score of 23.
Why would the "eBay Item Sold" email, have a completely different 'Buyer's postal address" to the one listed in "My eBay" and the PayPal payment email?
Both postal address appear to be legit, athough I can't find any info on the two names at these addresses, nor do I have phone numbers for either.

I think that ebay doesn't share the profile with Paypal.
Meaning that i think you can have a different addresses in both Ebay and Paypal registration.

Yeah, could be...
I'm just wondering why the name & address would be of a completely different person (different sex even!) and 122 miles apart?
The PayPal transaction says I must send to the PayPal Confirmed address (the one in Southampton) to be Eligible for Seller protection.
Just wondering where this other Name & Address have come from?!!

Hmm, as far as I'm aware, Paypal is owned by eBay so that they could a)Get more profit, b)Reduce the number of fraudulent people trading. If the Paypal account is confirmed it should be ok, it maybe a partners Paypal being used, I would email your query with them first and maybe query it with eBay, j

Maybe he's buying it either as a gift for or on behalf of somebody else?
I'd drop him an ebay message or email asking him to confirm which address he wants it sending to.

Yeah, I'll do that - see what he/she says!
Although to be eligible for PayPal's Seller Protection, I should send the item to the Confirmed Address in the PayPal Transaction Details page, no matter what they say...

So far, no problem with my transaction.

in my experience theres only one thign to do and thats send to the paypal and also email the ebay account telling them this. If you do not send to the paypal addy then they can claim via paypal.
I think best thing to do is what I said above then make sure the ebayer knows (possibly best if you do that before sending)

Could be that he's moved, changed one address but not the other.
This 'Emma' could be his partner/wife, I've different names a few times before too on sales/Paypal reciepts!

Well, 24 hours have passed since the sale and payment recieved, but I've had no replies to 2 emails asking for confirmation of the delivery address.
Was hoping to send it out today...
What do you reckon?

recon you wait for a reply, at the end of the day you've got the money and its a legit reason to not post!
It's his fault for the confussion anyway

Well, it's not in Nigeria, so you shouldn't worry that much.
Also, don't take that "seller protection" policy too seriously, trust me, paypal is not looking out for you at all!!!
I have had three different problematic transactions (with three different sellers) and in the end after their "investigations" paypal always ended up sending me an automated message pretty much saying that they wash their hands, as long as THEY don't loose any money, they don't give a f**k about you, either if you are the seller or the buyer.
And also, if you think about it: what's that "Seller protection" anyway???? you already got your money. Correct me if I'm wrong but usually the buyers are the ones who take a bigger risk, because you just don't know the quality of the merchandise you will receive (when the transaction involves a second-hand item).
Anyway, just wait for a reply from the buyer, but again, you shouldn't worry that much.

Yes, I'd give him / her a bit longer to reply too. As others had said, you've got his / her money and he / she will surely be checking email and ebay messages to see if you've sent the item out.
Well, I would be anyway. I hate it when sellers don't inform me that the item has been posted!

I never imform my buyers, I have decent reasons though:
1 - When I post over 60 items at a time I don't have time to go through them all and email a buyer that their item is shipped
2: if I do and it doesnt come next day then I get about a billion emails from each buyer asking why it isnt here and when will it come
3 - i like to have the element of surprise
seriously for a growing business type person such as myself it's just not easly feasable to do it, as much as I try to deal with each customer as a unique person I cant. To put it honnestly all I want to do is give the seller what they want and make as much money doing so as possible, some say thats unethical but it really is just the basic rules of business, lots of companies talk about ethical policies and customer care, but all they really want is to keep a large customer base so they can sell their products over and over whilst making allot of profit

Yeah, I understand that
I was talking more about casual sellers than profesionals although it's still nice to be kept informed if at all possible. Guess it's just because of my job, I constantly get customers ringing up to check the progress of their computers!

I do get your point, but I really think it depends on the type of business you are in, for pc repair/build people need and want them asap, but if its just say a mp3 player you can easily go without it for 2/3 weeks, but a pc may be more critical to a persons e-life
