Thats impossible... unless you send me the file in question... how do i know ??

A 240kbps video with 96kbps audio stream will use 24kb/s + 9.6kb/s for every second of video...

so that is 33.6kb/s... so for a 1hr 47min film your talking on:

(33.6 x 60) x 107 = 215.712mb...

So i reckon the film is corrupt...

i see my little piece of software has reached esato!

it is very alpha at the moment, not a final verson, so there will be bugs!

350/96 bitrates are recommended for the k800i and w900i, you can go to 380/96 but you'll get some stutter on high-motion clips occasionally.

320/128 is a good option for music videos that'll appreciate even better sound quality.

the "avs2wav needs to close" bug is fixed in the next version. Also i'm adding music conversion to mp3, lc-aac, he aac, or he-aacv2 (eAAC+). With tags for album/artist/song/track, of course.

@mysh its certainly a great app, and soooo easy to use.. however im having some problems installing the Nero AAC codec on my PC, it trys to automatically install it at the beginning but the end result is the vid still having no sound. Ive also tried to install the codec directly from the Nero site, and still with no luck with the sound. Do you think i may have a conflict of some other codecs installed already on my PC

And again, congrats with the app, it really is a masterpiece of work!!

Posted by mysh
Hey thanks.

Make sure you're using version 0.81a

http://www.vapulus.com/w900i/M3-0.81a.zip

once you get the main interface loaded , have a look in the bin folder, for neroaacenc.exe. If it's not there, try installing it manually.

If neroaacenc is there, you might have some exotic sound codec for your video file. Add the video to the file list, then go the information tab, and click the file in the file list, it'll show some info about it. Go into the temp folder, and copy the contents of mediainfo.txt to a post here, so i can see what kind of audio your file has.

Posted by RyaN
excellent ... i'll go over that again when i get home and if it still isnt working i'll copy over the info in txt file for you to see....

I did have a look at the thread posted above on Howard Forums and installed the latest version.

Cant wait to get this working properly, as i was trying loads of different settings with Mpegable, and the vids still came out with annoying pixels here and there

cheers

Hey cheers for the debug.txt.

I'm not too sure what's going on with that, it seems to only encode < 1 second of your audio. It's mp3 audio on the source file, so it shouldn't be a problem. I expect it's one of two things...

you're low on disk space and the audio doesn't get extracted fully. But that seems unlikely.

the other is a broken mp3 codec on your system, try installing ffdshow...

http://cutka.szm.sk/files/ffdshow-20051129.exe

that should make any file work fine.

Posted by RyaN
@mysh

thanks for that link there, thats sorted it out. I already had an old version of ffdshow installed so i uninstalled it and installed the new one. Now i have sound!!

I did notice a bit of a sound lag (on the simpsons!!) but not sure whether its the source file. Gonna try it again later and see if its just that episode

cheers

Posted by mysh
Cool, glad it fixed it for you. I'm bundling ffdshow with M3 in future, transparently.

The sound lag is a bug, fixed in the new version out later today.

Not exactly my fault mind you, it's a problem with edited avi files. Most TV-rip shows are ripped in the US, and they have to remove the ad breaks. You'll find the sound lags after the first ad break is cut out, and it lags even more for every ad break removed. Something gets mangled in the avi file if it's not done properly. It doesn't show up in Windows Media Player, but the frameserver i'm using is more strict. Anyhow, i found a workaround, and it's fixed.

Excellent.

well i look forward to the new release mysh. This really is a great app for phones... only a couple of clicks and you're away! magic!

I recommend this to anyone trying to convert vids for their 's, but obviously remember this is still in beta atm

cheers

(repost from the HoFo thread)

Ok here's the new version of M³, finally.

not as much added as i wanted to, but it should work a lot better now. let me know of any bugs, thanks.

It will prompt when a new version is out, so you won't need to check this thread for new versions all the time anymore.

Plans for next version are to add a total E.T.A for all files in your list, and of course music converting (ogg/wma/wav/mp3/mp4/m4a).

http://www.vapulus.com/w900i/M3-0.8.2-Installer.exe

version 0.82

fixed: mov files using the Qdesign2 music codec had no sound (click, click, click etc)
fixed: badly edited avi files lost audio sync, eg. tv-rips
fixed: nero codec download would crash on slow networks
fixed: E.T.A for each encoding process now works properly
fixed: progress bars now work for most processes
fixed: crash with 2.35 aspect files (again)

added: an installer, to set things up automatically
added: ffshow codec to fix mp3 decoding problems
added: per-file options mode, select a file in "edit files" mode to set custom options for it. Can also select several at once with CTRL or SHIFT key.
added: snazzy logo (the 'video' on the phone is an actual 350kbit mpeg-4, believe it or not, will upload the movie if anyone asks for it)
added: automatic updates when new version is available
added: user selectable temp folder

changed: m3 no longer extracts any uncompressed streams, now pipes instead. This means you need much less free disk space.
changed: no more debug.txt, now lastrun.log
changed: output folder, defaults to My DocumentsMy Mobile Media
changed: cleaned up a LOT of code, so M3 now runs a bit more smoothly.
changed: process priorities, conversion no longer takes over your pc.

EDIT:

apparently it might still crash trying to download the nero codec, if so, here's how to install nero codec manually, go to this page and click "i agree" to download the codec...

http://www.nero.com/nerodigital/eng/down-ndaudio.php

then unzip it, and put neroaacenc.exe in c:program filesm3bin

Although i don't use your program mysh, you have done a great job and everyone who use's it, i'm sure appreciates your hard work. top stuff pal.

Posted by mysh
Thanks.

you might want to try it, it gives a lot better quality than super/nero recode/mpegable/imtoo. Originally i wrote some guides on how to manually encode better movies for the w900i, and this is the same thing, only automated greatly. About 3 mouse clicks to convert any movie to unbeatable quality.

Posted by PaulJ23
Mysh is surely a genius! I can't recommend this software enough, it's absolutely awesome. The simplicity for such a great end result is superb. And all for free?? You should at least set up some kind of paypal donate option for all your hard work, Mysh!

Thanks again.

yes, it is indeed possible. Just go into the Entertainment icon rather than through the file manager, and play the video through there. You can do fullscreen, pause, ffwd, zoom while in playback and take a snapshot

hm... i tried converting a video, but the video and audio were not in sync. the video was too fast.
does anybody know how to fix this?

Posted by RyaN
the M3 app is still in beta, so hopefully things will be sorted out along the way. i noticed the sync problem even with a simpsons episode

Posted by corez
hmm, when i try to code a movie clip with m3 the file will be arount 4 kb. And wont play ofcourse, any idea that the problem is?

Posted by blunden
It seems very good but I noticed that it installed FFdshow which then takes priority over all my other codecs. That is not good and forces me to not use it.

Posted by mysh
hi all, m3 is still alpha so there are problems.

phantom and corez, i can sort out those bugs, but i need the following information:

- the type of video you tried to convert (mov/avi/mpg etc)

- the version of m3 you used

- on the 'information' tab in m3, you need to tell me the "video codec" and "audio codec" for the input video.

thanks

Blunden it does install ffdshow because people use strange/broken codecs on their computers. You can still use M3 if you prefer not to use ffdshow. Just go to Add/Remove Programs in the control panel, and remove ffdshow. M3 will still work.

I tried to download your program mysh, as it seems to be recieving a lot of good feedback so far.
After downloading and installing the program i tried to open the program but instead of opening the program i recieved the message:

hey, you need the .net framework runtime, you can install it via Windows Update, or from here:

Posted by morkjones
hi mysh! absolute top class!! just have a problem with the sync, and wonderin if you could give me a hand?

I am using the latest version, i think 0.8.4.1, and trying to convert an avi file.

the video codec being used is XviD and the audio codec is MPEG-1 Audio Layer 3.

Would be awesome if you could sort this small problem out for me!! Great work again!

Posted by berniemc
RYANMACHIN - How you finding the K800i? I got mine the other day and it's a quality phone!

Hope you start posting loads of videos on here for us all like you did with the K750i!

Posted by mysh
Hi morkjones

Just to update you, and everyone else, the audio-sync problem with xvid/mp3 avi files is sorted.

also, ffmpeg is no longer installed!

i'm giving up my saturday night to get a new version out, with the above changes, and something nice...

music conversion from ogg/mp3/mp4/m4a/wav to mp3/aac/eaac/eaac+ ...

with full ID3 tag converting for artist/title/album/track and...

ID3 tag editing support for single or multiple files at once!

Posted by Phantom
yay, good to hear that the audio/video sync problem is fixed.
i can't wait to re-download this and have a good working program!

Posted by RandomHero
I now have the program working but whenever i convert a video a message pops up near the end that says i have ran out of space in the folder it saves to.
Ive tried changing the output folder but i still get the same message.
I have plenty of memory left on my hard drive (80GB).

Posted by mysh
new version is out, v0.85, should have fixed the xvid/mp3 audio sync problem, and also includes music conversion to mp3/aac/he-aac/h-aacv2.

the app should auto update, or look here for a link and more info.

http://www.howardforums.com/showpost.php?p=7629629&postcount=606

if the app is complaining about disk space at the end, it means it can't copy to the output folder, which is either low disk space or no write permissions.

Edit: Oh, and ffdshow is longer installed or used in v0.85.

Your program works excellently, I have been using it for the past day lol.
On an unrelated note however, why do the keypad backlights remain on when watching a video on K800? Is this normal - it doesn't seem a very good use of energy (and comfort).

Posted by sahran
you are a genius mysh you'r the man

thaaaank yooooou very much .

so can anyone post some interesting videos? in320x240 high quality of course...

Posted by mysh
Here's a bug fix release, for a few problems people had, plus i sorted out file splitting so it works again.

Also, i added a 15 minutes option for file splitting.

http://www.vapulus.com/w900i/M3-0.8.5.1-Installer.exe

version 0.85.1

fixed: broken file splitting
fixed: i18n related version error with update checking

changed: version number now stored as integer and not decimal
changed: music normalisation menu disabled until it's used (v0.86)

added: new write test on output folder once you click "convert"
added: 15 min split option.

RandomHero, could you try this version? Let me know if your output error now shows up as "could not write to folder" or "not enough disk space", thanks.

Posted by lukealexander
So does nobody know if there is a way to switch K800's keypad lights off whilst watching a video?

Posted by blunden
I tried the new version today. Though it won't encode some files. I encoded a mov-file without problem but an avi-file (Video: xvid and Sound: mp3) it just stops. I uploaded the lastrun.txt.

http://files.upl.silentwhisper.net/upload5/m3convertproblem.txt

EDIT: Just saw that you now used DirectShow for the AVI decoding. Though as gspot says DirectShow can render the file (plus it works in WMP etc.) I don't see why that would be the problem. Any idea?

[ This Message was edited by: blunden on 2006-08-01 01:56 ]

Posted by mysh
hi blunden, thanks for the lastrun.log file, it revealed the problem. The movie fps is 23.976, gspot will report the same as mediainfo in the lastrun.log.

If you look at the lastrun.log section labelled "temp.avs contents for this file:" the fps is getting set to 23976. The decimal place is missing. This appears to be some kind of localisation issue, someone in malaysia was having similar problems with the decimal . becoming a , instead.

I'll post an updated version today to sort out this issue, would you mind testing the same video using it? (once i post it) It'd let me know the bug is fixed. Thanks.

ok mysh i dl the .netframework, but it would not let me install as i needed some othermicrosoft file, cant remember what it was called, it was version 3.0 of something. But i couldnt dl that as my windows version is not genuine microsoft. Anychance of releasing another version where none of this is needed?

Posted by mysh
hehe ok you're asking me can i rewrite the entire application to not use .net runtime, because you can't install .net on pirated windows? That's a bit of an ask. Besides which, .net can be installed fine on non-genuine copies of windows XP! so...

I suggest you buy windows, or at least become a more competent pirate.

Although i do plan to port the app to C++ or C# eventually, you'll be waiting a good couple of months.

Posted by >500
lol didnt really expect you to create a new one....i didnt even know my windows wasnt original...

Posted by mysh
i was just being funny, you should be able to install .net tho, just get that missing "3.0" update too. give me the name of it and ill get you a link.

Posted by >500
god i think i deleted the .netframework, but i will dl again and see what i need, and ill let you know, but it gave me a link for the file i needed x3.0 (maybe file manager 3.0, could be wrong though), but said it couldnt dl coz of my windows not being genuine. ill get the exact file name and let you know.

It's still the same. I uninstalled the old one and installed the new one like normal. Still the same issue. It's a pretty big issue since much content comes in a similar framerate.

EDIT: I removed the debug info.

blunden i really want to sort this problem out. But i don't want to spam this thread with stuff about this error.

Basically, i have some 23.976 fps AVI tv episodes here, and i don't get the error you have, temp.avs has 23.976 with the decimal place for me. This is an odd bug.

So, i'm going to PM you with an updated .exe to help find out what the problem is, check your Private Messages in 10 minutes. Thanks.

when encoding should i use 320x240 or 352x288 for video size? i thought it should be 320x240 but somehow i only can get full screen without crop when i use 352x288..

currently using Super video converter which is my favourite so far

current favourite settings:
Video:
352x288
384 bitrate
25fps
Audio:
22050 sampling freq
2 channels
128 bitrate
