I guess this is gonna be a TV mobile,
To watch TV u'll rotate the display so that u can watch TV even if the set is closed,
otherwise the display will b inside the clamshell like a normal folding....
OtherWise I can't find ne other possibilities why on earth
would make such a phone!

DONT FORGET! with the patent pics they tend to make it a generic as possible and the final design will look nothing like the patent picture!

woooooow i just like tat
whts the problem with that design

@shaliron
where did u get this pic from

Its just a patent submission. You don't need to give a nice design. Ugly or not the main thing is to quickly write your patent concept down get it register before someone did.

why make something so difficult.... while theres already a rotating screen like the sharp and nokia... however its uniq.

good lord
looks very unpractical and very 1990's for some reason
dont really see the point of stuff like that these days!

it will have some advantages, and it will appeal to some people.
the best thing to do right now is to wait and see what SE brings us.
its been under development for more then a year, so they better brings us something very special.
Posted by quickhippo
yeah i guess it will look nothing like that either really
worth the wait i hope

@aragorn666
I got it off phonearena.com
But the phone design is original though I think that a normal rotatable top is more practical than that design.

it is a way for one company to protect or prevent paying royalty
those other swivel or twist design might be patented by someone
if sonyericsson wanted to do something tht allow the internal display to be flip over then this is a method for them to do without really giving money to someone who might be their competitor...sony is their shareholder.
and i see one benefit
so far there's non dual front or cyber shot or what so ever SE phone tht allow clam shell to come with more camera like design.
this design is possible to allow user to have a phone with camera design...or a clam shell tht allow landscape gaming or web browsing.
and btw ...even this is patented,....it didn't mean the owner will use it.
but of course paying the patent fee and maintaining it but without using it sound resource wastage.......so let wait and see

thats one piece, one would't have to buy a silicon case for
.
.
Very radical stuff really.. I doubt if sucha design would become mainstream

i like it.
I'd like to watch tv on that.
Flip the screen so it's outwards, have the phone facing away from you on the table with it tilted.
I like the idea if the design fits.
