I keep on getting this error message on my phone when I attempt to get on the net.
"Your mobile device has not been recognized. Please contact Rogers AT&T customer care for assistance."
when I do call them, they are always like, everything is working fine, you should refer to your manual, but I can't find any solutions in the Sony Ericsson manual. I was also told to call some data service customer care line, and when I called them, they said they will call me back in a bit... haven't heard from em since.. does anyone know how I can fix this problem?
and I also have the web thing for my phone, the lady at rogers told me it was working fine so I should have the net.

What phone do you have? (T68i?)
What APNs do you subscribe to? goam.com? internet.com?

Here is the info for setting up goam.com on your phone which is what you need to WAP using your T68i with a GPRS subscription... Thanks to Prom1 for already posting this...
Goto WAP Profile Settings
Wap services(yes), Wap Settings(yes)
select profile you want to edit, the 1st one(yes)
scroll to Rename(yes) enter "Rogers"
scroll to Change homepage(yes), enter WAP homepage

scroll to SAVE TO (yes),
APN: goam.com
IP SETTINGS
select connect using(yes), the data account you want to use when browsing
"goam"
scroll to IP Address(yes) Enter the IP address of the gateway (ie Goam)

port 9203
secondary IP 208.200.067.151
port 8582
scroll to USER ID (yes) "wapuser1"
scroll to Password (yes) "wap"
[remember this is for WAP not for HTML sites]
scroll to Data Mode(yes), select Connection Mode(yes), select Connection Oriented
Security(yes), select "on"
scroll to show images(yes)--ON
scroll to response timer (yes) 150

Hi there, I've posted these before so i hope it helps...i got these from a guy at rogers that i know... my phone is using the r5d006 software....
and it's an unlocked from that's non-rogers.... let me know..i'll try to help you as much as i can

this is how i setup my wap
1. go to setting data comm
2. in data comm go to data accounts and create an account called rogers
3. once this is created you can edit account.
the APN is goam.com
user id wapuser1
password wap
the password request field shold be set to off
4. allow calls should be automatic
5.ip address should be blank
6. under advanced settings authen is set to normal
dat compression is set to off
header compression is set to off
quality is set to precendence adn subsricbed
7. GO TO WAP SERVICES
scroll to wap settings and click yes create a profile called rogers
under change homepage use
http://upaapps.goamerica.net:8582/start.wml
or
http://goamerica.net:9203/index.wml
save this to the current profile
8.under gateway select ip settings and conect using rogers account ip is 208.200.067.150
9. user id and password are blank
data mode is connoriented
security is on
show images set to on and response timer 150 secons
10. go to my shortcuts and make sure you cell # is in my numbers data and voice.
turn phone off.. leave it for a minute turn it back on.
try logging on the wap.esato.... it should say cannot find server continue yes keep on continueing till you get on....
and obvioulsy you need to subsribe to rogers' wireless service.

Create data account in settings: name it goam. Gprs. Save. Then edit it, apn: goam.com, userid: wapuser1, pw: wap. Now set sms as gprs. Save. Goto Wap settings, homepage: http://goamerica.net:9203/index.wml then save to current profile. IP Address 208.200.067.150/1 then enter ur id and pw again! Dont 4get 2 save!

Man are you guys damn fast! Tried to reply 2x! Thanks Arrrgie for the plug! I used to work for Rogers too, and help them test gprs last year. I prefer Fido direct email and mms-not me personally-and synch for 5 months now.

DragonEye, i foot think Rogers is quick enough to support email DIRECTLY, to your phone yet? Hopefully soon. Call the IMS: interactive mobile services department ask for someone knowledgeable, lol. Sorry youll need it. Bon chance.

DragonEye, I was jus reading ur post about the settings.. I found one problem.. I dont think I have WAP services/settings, watever it was..
so I can't set up gateway and the other stuff.. unless its in another menu.. I couldn't find it on my phone.. how am I suppose to fix this?

I treid those 2 default rogers homepage: they don't load at of now and yesterday.
GPRS can't load with security option ON.
And when can we send direct email thru Rogers??? I'm feeling frustrated!

It seems some people don't have the same sub menu's as me..ok i try again
STEPS 1-6 are done in the sub menu CONNECT, data comm
STEPS 7-9 are done in WAP SERVICES, some people have told me they have WEB SERVICES??? anyway the PIC is phone with the globe behind it.
Go there and go into OPTIONS, WAP profiles, add profile.. and fill in details, then select and edit info and fill in the remaining details.
just to let you know i did a master reset first to clear all my other attempts before i got this one.... i don't know if that's needed.. but rememeber to back up iportant things before you do the reset.. phonebook etc...
I have been able to connect still is use this address.

Oh oops yea the portal does work, it even detects my T68 and gave me a welcome message for buying the phone (well I didn't buy it from Rogers, but anyhow).

After giving a try on the picture messaging (as they call it, but it's really email), it doesn't seem to work at all.
I've spent almost the whole afternoon trying to get it to work (just trying to send a simple email, with no picture attachment), I've retrieved their email configuration settings thru WAP and everything should work since I got WAP working smoothly.
I also had them to reset the Internet.com APN (which is what's used for email) and it still doesn't work.
They got me put down as high priority case and I think they're actually going to take a look at the server settings because I'm one of the few people to give this a try for the first time.

Nice try buddy, they don't have a clue.... they said if they put my oem number in it would work... well it didn't it hasn't and probably never will. But if you figure it out let me know. When i try to use my email...it just says sending and recieving but doesn't do anything...ta da!!!! Then it says....cannot find server and i use internet.com as well, which is from the rogers wapsite download.

Well guess what guys, dont say I didnt warn ya. Go with Fido and it works, including MMS!!!!!
But its about coverage with Rogers right? Well email setup thru WAP isnt gonna do anything for ya because their WAP servers will restrict attachments by default.
Also, piority status on a Tuesday, big deal, you'd be lucky to get a call by Friday. but who knows.
Well you need the internet.com settings (not sure if the login/pw is the same as the WAP; as when I worked there it was only for Portage Plus which wasnt rolled out until after December after my contract was up.).
you might need to input Ericsson's developer IP address but maybe not. just make sure you get someone to verify your features in the AOM, they'll know what I'm talking about. Also, you might have to cycle on/off your phone for about 10 minutes for them to take affect. Let us know how it works out, and good luck.

I currently run into about 5 deadspots with rogers on my daily trek to work. Or could it be just be my phone?
I hope someone figures out the email thing and my signal gets better too. What baffles me is that Rogers is advertisng the phone but they don't know how it works... oh well.. i guess i'll just wait a little longer or dum[p them for FIDO.

i just got a t68i through rogers, i dont have any data access plan or anything. when i go to "WEB Services", and then "Select Profile", i see "Rogers" repeated 5 times. i cannot delete, rename or change the settings for any of the five "Rogers" profiles. i suspect rogers did this to prevent me from using some other means of getting GPRS or even a dial up connection through GSM.
but is there any way of getting around that? i dont want a Rogers data plan beause the amount of data that they give is riduculously small and the prices are amazingly high. what i really want to do is create a new profile and connect with my own ISP. i dont mind the slower speed as compared to GPRS.
if i unlocked my phone could i do that? what if i didnt unlock the phone but i did a master reset? any ideas?

You have to unlock not just your Service Provider but also your browser on your phone......in other words a FULL unlock of all subsets. Get the unlock code from Rogers, it may help to say that you bought the phone at retail price thus you shouldnt have to pay $250 to rogers for the unlock code.!!!

unfortunately i did buy my phone cheap (from Rogers) so its supposed to be locked and i doubt they will unlock it for me if i just ask them.
what i can do is get it remotely unlocked using one of those underground type unlocking services on the net... i'm thinking of doing that, they do offer a full unlock right? there was a thread somewhere on the forum about some people who do it for 22 bucks or something and all you need is a "stable" internet connection and a cable.
the other thing i wanted to ask is, if i do get my phone unlocked and change the browser setting and all that, will my rogers sim card still work in my phone or will it get angry and refuse to do anything?

Hey there,
Go check this site out and ask them if they could do it. I've bought things from this guy and actually met him. He's a good guy very helpful. They do unlocking but you have to send the phone to him to unlock etc... They're locating in Markham, Ontario.
