Boot Ronaldo off no one spot!

Click to view updated thread with images

Posted by fatreg
Do your bit....

He currently sits at 27% of the vote. 2% above Valencia. Every vote counts
!

There is a very real danger that Cristiano Ronaldo will be voted the
fans' best young player at the World Cup despite his pouting, diving,
pretty boy antics designed mainly to get himself a lucrative transfer to
Real Madrid and thus avoid the good kicking he deserves from Wayne
Rooney at Manchester United training.

He is currently 1st in the FIFA voting just ahead of Luis Valencia of
Ecuador. Please can everyone go to
http://fifaworldcup.yahoo.com/06/en/w/bypa/eligible.html and do the
decent thing by voting for Valencia. It doesn't matter who you support
or if you haven't seen them play, just stop Ronaldo.

Takes 30 seconds...You know it makes sense!

I like Ronaldo!!

I've never seen such a pathetic drama queen. It's that kind of pretty boy nonsence that makes a mockery of football. Someone should give him a slap, or at least a boot in the groin

Posted by >500
he is actually a decent player, i thought he was crap at first, but ive more of him playing, he looks like a good player....
and these days, most players are actors, dont say they arent.....

and who cares if he went up to the ref and complained, even if he didnt that was a straight red.

and rooney saying he is gonna snap Ronaldo, what a d******d... grow up....

Posted by slattery69
very odd seems the people who vote dont know much about football. ronaldos contribution to the tourement hasnt exactly been anything earth shattering.
were as the germnay podolski has scored and created goals and generaly been a thorn in the side of many good defenders yet is sat with only 7% of the vote. strange

my vote is in.

Guy's a twat.

Me and my cousing stopped betting on if he would cry over anything... It happened so much we bet on if he WOULDN'T cry!

The funniest guy on the pitch is Henry... Whenever he messes up he just shrugs his shoulders in a "I really don't know what i'm doing" kinda way.

Ahhh football.

Ronaldo's a twat.

Henry on the other hand is a legend

yeah, fair play is kicking someone´s testicles, and then acussing the guy of the opposite team that saw it

we all can learn from you

Men are insane they really really are!

ROTFLMAO!

Posted by Scorchio
I'm gonna have to say this....

I'm neither English nor Portugese and frankly am not that big of a footy fan but lets put the record straight. IMHO, Rooney (aka Shreik) made a genuine error in the stamping incident but should have kept his cool and known better but whether you are Portugese or not, Ronaldo was nothing more then a spoilt brat during that match. As I'm not that knowlegable in footy I veiwed his performance with an unbiased view and was taken aback at the bloody incesent whing of that child. I have never seen such a dishonourable performance from an "apparant" professional in any sport before and its not just him, it seems quite an "art" in modern football. It seemed that every time young Ronaldo fell he would grab the nearest limb, roll around like he was having an epileptic fit THEN look at the ref. PATHETIC.

Its Ronaldo who should grow up!!

@Arez

As far as being enlightened is concerned, try forgetting for a minute that you are Portugese and then re watch the match. I'm not defending Rooney but I sure as hell wasn't impressed by Ronaldo.

God help that child when he returns to England for the prem ship

thats kind of the point he didnt actually do anything else in the match apart from the final penalty. the wink the fake head butt that was his contribution to the match
i think he does go down very easy having said that hes been doing it all his career so its not a one off i m sure man u fans werent complaining last season when he was winning them free kicks for similar antics

Posted by ares
scorchio, i´ve talked to people from all over the world, and the obvious opinion is the hooligan version of shrek is the one to blame...there´s only a group of people mainly dutch and english, that see to consider winking to be worse than physical agression

also, you seem to forget some other facts:

1. Owen Hargreaves, in the first half, fouled by tackling from behind and caught the portuguese player's legs. He then stayed down himself, feigning an injury in the hope of avoiding the mandatory yellow card. He succeeded. He was eventually booked in the second half for ... pressuring the referee to award a penalty to England, following Nuno Valente's perfect tackle ... which led an english player to dive in the area.

2. John Terry, in the first half, fouled Tiago from behind and then stayed down himself for an eternity, feigning an injury, in the hope of avoiding the mandatory yellow card. He did not succeed.

3. John Terry, with 5 minutes to go in extra time, when Portugal clearly had the initiative, had a sudden injury with no one near him. Cramp, no doubt ... but if it had been Johny Foreigner?

4. Rooney, at the end of the first half, clearly pressured the referee for Petit to receive a yellow card following a foul. Petit will today miss the semi-final.

But no, the portuguese (and all other people from the south of europe and latin countries) are the cheaters

And ronaldo is the child, not people that vote agains him only because england lost, or make an entire site against him

@slattery, the press considered Ronaldo to be one of best performin players in the game...if want links from newspaper sites from all over the world saying that i´ll give it to you - this is a bit different from saying he did nothing in the game - it also show what you are up to...sad

grow up

Is it just me that's having flashbacks to the now banned threads with religion or politics as their subject?

Substitute England and Portugal for Israel and Palestine/Arab world, Rooney and Ronaldo for Bush and the Palestinian PM and we're off again!

Let's just face it, I don't think either of you will see eye to eye due to pretty obvious biases about who you support!

LOL!!! What do you think made Maradonna such a legend??
They play the same, over react here and there, but genuine talented players!!

Just because he hasnt proved much in this world cup doesnt mean he cant play.... just look at poor Ronaldinho, he didnt do to well either, he's still a legend regardless of how he played in the world cup!!

Rooney is even more of a cake, mainly because the Brittish press made it out to be like he is some soocer god, the guy sucks, ive never been impressed by him, and he was a flop in the world cup, and NOT because Ronaldo got him a red card or because of his injury, but because hes not that good!!!

Posted by Scorchio
Hey, relax..... I'm not the one making the web sites and I sure as hell don't have a latin hate thing going on so don't go pinning that on me thanks very much!

As for your detailed list of fouls during the match, point taken, Ronaldo wasn't the only one, but he is the one I remember and maybe thats because he's a high profile player, but isn't that a good enough reason for him to stop behaving so badly? This argument won't get anywhere. I'm not a Ronaldo fan whereas you are so we'll just agree to disagree.

Football can be considered a religion you know...

Posted by leeboy13
omg its footbal.... and this should prove that along time ago axxxr was right in saying that people didnt argue due to the nature of teh thread (ie political or religious)... they agrued because their opinions were different!

you should learn to except other peoples opinions guys.... reality is lads that if either of them or anyone else for that matter wasnt good enough - they wouldnt be in teh world cup.... youre just being picky......

fair play to teh italians.. with all thats going on over there, they pulled two of teh best finishing moves ive seen this world cup...

@786KBR, I would prefere to be a legend for a good reason. I see where you're coming from tho but don't think much of Maradonna!

@leeboy, Well done to Italy indeed. Great goals!

indeed

Posted by slattery69
very stupid if people got beaten up for sticking up for him. ronaldo will end up the loser in the end.
refs will stop giving him free kicks beleiving hes just play acting and he ll end up getting kicked off the park as players will twig on that refs wont give free kicks against him as he has a reputation as someone who goes down easily.
same thing happened with ginola, refs got wise to his play acting and stopped giving free kicks and he use to get kicked all over the park and very rarely got a free kick.

very true people do like people with an edge, i think the difference is the bad boys you mention had talent and were at the top of there sport. were as ronaldo has some talent doesnt know how to use it yet and certainly isnt at the top of his sport or any where near. he s not even the player in the portugeuse team, let alone the tourament

John McAnroe!

So getting this back on topic who did you vote for young player of the world cup, i have not decided yet to be honest nobody has really caught my eye?

Imho and commenting from an objective point of view Rooney deserved a red card for that display of aggression so it doesnt matter what Ronaldo did.

Every player has his arsenal of antics up his sleeve, some more than others and in football there are always abundant feigned injuries so a lot relies on the referee's discretion.

I mean how many here genuinely believe Italy deserved that match winning penalty against Australia......all acting there but thats the way this game is played and sometimes being a good boy gets you nowhere.
Ronaldo does use his stunts when playing for ManU as well.....nobody complains then?

As for the best young player fifa06....its definitely Podolski for me. Too bad Germany is out.....that Germany vs Argentina match should perhaps have been the finals

You mean it'll go to a penalty shootout?

Perhaps someone could enlighten me as to why England always seem to suck at these things?

Italia '90, Euro '96, France '98, Japan/Korea '02, Euro '04, Germany '06....

and how many times have portugal won the world cup

one less than you...and you surely should know what "fair play" tactics were used againd Eusebio´s team then...the words "the cup was bought" mean something to you???

but that was past, we were the better playing team then, and we won nothing

now what we have is Portugal always on top of tournments, something that we didn´t do for a long time (but we have lots of titles in youth teams), and that makes me happy
