3G Questions?

Yep so I'm a noob if you like when it comes to 3G, never had it before, never cared for it, never understood it, now I have a K800, now I do care and now I want to understand...

What is it?

How do I use it?

When can I use it?

Cost anything?

What features/services/functions does it have?

Apart from video calling, can it be fun?

I saw 3G memory stick phone movies, would this work on a K800?
(The Link - Monty Python, Spiderman, Tomb Raider etc...)

Might have some more newbie question for you later...

Thanks.

for price and support infos visit the operator website in your country

> What is it?
put simply, its high speed data

>How do I use it?
get a phnoe with it and either make video calls or browse the internet

>When can I use it?
when in range of your 3g service

>Cost anything?
video calls are charged differently than using it as pure data. I don't know about video call costs but data (internet) is generally charged at the same rate as your GPRS

>What features/services/functions does it have?
see above

Apart from video calling, can it be fun?
>its fun if you visit fun sites using the browser

>I saw 3G memory stick phone movies, would this work on a K800?

no idea

@xugaa.

Just think of 3G as much quicker version of GPRS - you know that thing you use to download stuff on to your phone?

3G is much quicker so it allows more content to be delivered to your phone in a shorter time. This may be video streaming or full - track downloads etc.

You can switch it on and off on some phones but the only extra you really have to pay is for the extra data charges, but with some operators, like T-mobile they have an unlimited data tarriff for about £7.50 a month I think - which is great.

Yip you need the right links, Voda has a link(here in sa) so you just log on to vodalive, choose a channel and there you go tv on your phone!

What about if your with O2 - can you still get to Vodaphone tv? If not where else for O2?

Also how much does using tv cost? Although Boba said some are free in Austria, surely you'd need to pay internet costs?

Oops lol

@Xugaa.

You don't necessarily have to pay internet costs. Orange charge a nominal fee each month for about 10 - 16 channels. I think its about £10.

Also boba said Austria not Australia

Well are you talking about watching a movie that you personally want to upload to your phone to watch, or a movie/tv that you want to watch via the internet and 3G on your phone?

I have enjoyed the discussion 3G. The operators here in Nigeria are working very fast to upgrade services to 3G. I would appreciate if any forum member can give me a list of 3G compatible phones. At present there are so many phones are on the market and one is at a loss which one will be suitable for the functions that have been discussed in this thread.
