That is completely right. Megapixels are just size, they don't tell us anything about quality of the picture. MP are important for printing quality.

thanks all!!

Welcome to Esato.

-You cant have anything inside the file explorer as a shortcut. To bad realy.

-Most service providers have a maksimum limit for the size of mms messages and you can't reach the limit. The images on k800i is abot 700-1000kb in full quality.

You can always set up your phone for e-mail and send the pictures through mail. Its without the size limit and much cheaper. The only bad thing is that your fiends(The reciever) must set up the email on the phone to recive images and they wont get it directly on the second like a mms message.

For Work I have been signed up with a lone worker telephone system, that relies on speed-dial on your mobile.
I know that to use speed dial you need to press the location (e.g. 2) then call to speed-dial.
Anyone know of a way of turning on "traditional" speed dial (i.e. just press the 2 button, in a similar way that voicemail works).
Looked through all the manuals buit no joy
Any help is much appriciated

Don't know if this has been posted (too many pages to read for now).

Pressing the right soft-key, C, and the "task manager" key together in standby mode will open the camera.

Is there a way to open other programs while the internet browser is open, and then return to the browser without having to open it again?

Hi

I didn't want to start a new thread about this, as I'm sure there are already plenty... I just can't find them!

My N-6600 used to have a file manager ("FExplorer") which allowed my to access the entirety of my phone including flash, firmware, hidden folders etc. Is there a similar application for the SE-K800i?

Posted by Astaroth
FAR Manager has a plugin that will work with K750s etc, I think I read of some people getting it to work with the K800 but I'm not sure. Search for it, there's a MASSIVE thread somewhere.. think it's on another forum but I'm sure I found it from here.

Hi everyone,

Does anyone know if the K800 is capable of displaying reminders, appointments, etc on the main standby screen?

Thanks.

Posted by airevolt
Hello was just curious because I've had 2 k800s but whenever i set a mp3 as a ringtone for example the mp3 is about 20 seconds long it is cut to about 10 seconds? any suggestions to make it as long as possible? i never experienced this on my k750/k608/k700/k500 though..can anyone bring light to this please????

Posted by thetmaxx
Yes, you can post "Notes" to the Standby. Menu/Organizer/Notes Make your note, then Save. Then select your not, hit More/Show in Standby. More complicated than on my old T616 it was an option right from the standby screen.

Thanks thetmaxx, but I guess that's only for notes but not for calendar entries. It would be really useful to display appointments and reminders for the current day so that you don't have to go to the calendar to see if you have anything on that day. I know reminders can be set but to display them on the standby screen is very useful.

Cheers anyway mate.

Hey all!

My apologies if this has been shared before.

Well anyway, if you're keen on editing .txt files on your mobile.

1. Save .txt file into 'Others' Folder
2. Select "More-> Send-> as Picture msg"
3. Edit the contents
4. Upon exit, Save to unsent msgs*

Upon saving to unsent msgs, the modified contents in the .txt file would automatically be edited =)

You may delete the unsent mms and the .txt file would not be deleted, or you can continue editing thru the unsent msgs folder.

How do I get into the service menu of the K800i?

I have tried a previous posters information ie; > * <<*...etc etc, but that will not work with this phone?

Any advice
Regards.

Posted by clifford_lee
>*<<*<

> indicates a right movement on your joystick. Don't bother about whatever than shows on your screen. It should work.

Posted by imcn
All that happens when I follow the sequence is that I end up in 'profiles'

Does anyone have a k880i that accesses this function pleae?

regards..

Posted by grav80
ignore what happens while you're entering the code. Just do it. After you've entered the last "*" you should see the service menu >*<<*<*

Posted by imcn
I am using the sequence as described and quickly but all that happens is when activating the joystick.. > and.. < I always end up in the settings menu for profiles etc..

Do you have the k8001?

thanks

Posted by thetmaxx
It works everytime on my k800i dispite the k800 starts to wander off, and open up things, it always goes to the service menu

As I already stated in my very first post to Esato in January 21, 2002, this code, > * < < * < has worked on all and phones since the beginning of times, or at least since the first model ever released from Ericsson. It's a nice tradition from Ericsson that SonyEricson has continued, and it is no more very "hidden", since everyone knows about it. It is more like an extra protection of this menu in order not to access it accidentally. The code has become a standard for all phones, like the code *#06# has become a standard for almost all mobile phones for displaying the IMEI code.
When you press the key sequence, or move the joystick lef/right, just ignore whatever pops up or is displayed on the screen, just continue with the key sequence, > * < < * <, and the service menu *will* appear after the last '<'.
It was a bit trycky on my old K700i, where the joystick was broken.

I found that it has been difficult to use this on my K800i and R1GB firmware (use to work all the time with R1ED). Especially if you set the joystick shortcut. Try to disable (the < and > shortcut first). Also sometime you need to hit the key-sequance fast enough. Cheers.

It means your joystick is getting older, hanugro..LOL.

OK, I have disabled the shortcuts on the joystick and have tried umpteen times as fast as I can but all that shows up on the screen after the input is '**' and that is all - no service menu at all.

I can access the IMEI code but not the service menu...I am with O2 - would that be the problem?

thanks

Don't have any idea, sorry. I found out that IMEI info is on 'Configuration' which is one of sub menu of 'Service Info' which is sub menu of 'Service'.

Could be because your phone is on O2 because mine is generic APAC.

OK try this, took out your batt for few mins and try again. Sometime the phone need to be properly restart once in a while.

@aremaboy, hope not because I seldom use the joystick Seriously I am getting this problem since I upgraded to R1GB.

OK, Got it - at last... I had been using >*<<*< but didnt see the final *

Doh!!!

Thanks for the help with that.

Regarding the issue I had with 'freezing' of the joy stick - I used the tip suggesting rotating clockwise/anti clockwise 15-20 times and this seems to cure that problem although it does seem to return if I download something!!!
Strange.

Cheers.

I clean the base of the joystick using a small cottonbud regularly. So far no problem with joystick at all (smooth as butter) but getting to Software menu using >*<<*<* need certain speed when I enable joystick shortcut since I upgraded to R1GB.

Are you sure you start the key sequence from the standby screen? It does not work otherwise. And it does not have to be that really fast, I can reach the service menu even if I press a button or move the joystick one time per second, or even slower. Since I have joystick-right linked to my calendar, this is what happens:

  1. From standby mode, if the screen is completely blank, press any key so that the backlight is turned on, but make sure you still are on the standby screen and the keyboard is unlocked.
  2. Move joystick to the right. The calendar view appears (since I have that function linked to joystick-right), The current date is highlighted.
  3. Press star, nothing happens
  4. Move joystick to the left, the day before today is highlighted (of course)
  5. Move joystick to the left again, the day before yesterday is highlighted.
  6. Press star, nothing happens
  7. Move joystick to the left again, the day three days before today is highlighted.
  8. Press star, and the service menu appears

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned before, but here we go: In the email inbox, if you delete a message, it is not deleted, only "marked for deletion" and will be deleted the next time you run the send & receive command, thus having to re-connect to the email server. But if you go to the file manager, press more and memory status, then select phone, messages, e-mail, your operator name, inbox, you can really delete the messages directly.
