sorry to bring this back up, but i cant get this to work on my k810i.

the BT data account is never created. i dont know if that is because i have a tmobile uk f/w or not.

the phone ends up using GPRS

Posted by speedyandre
If you have a branded T-mobile phone then the branding could limit or block the use of other data accounts then T-mobile's.
My Kpn network locked K800 can use PAN because the firmware isn't spoiled by Kpn

the thing didn't feed me,i'm still trying to get the PAN thing to work....

it is strange indeeeed,i believe there is something wrong with the dial-up connection....anyways,how may i check if the BT dongle is 2.0 +EDR or not????
and how come this could be of windows???since we use widcomm drivers instead of windows's????

hmm,makes me nervouse

EDR I don't know how to check.. but you can see the bluetooth version on the bluetooth icon in system tray > Advanced Config > Harware
chech HCI and LMP

If you have EDR you'll get a 3Mbps Bluetooth connection. [The bluetooth network connection created by Widcomm]
If not, you'll get lower rates.

About the windows... I don't know, there are some things unexplainable about it....
I have formated my pc about 4 times nowadays, got new HD, new XP version.... but somewhat it always freezes when viewing "Flash" sites.. like youtube.

If it's not a big job for you, try reformating and reinstalling windows.
I have a backup sata, so for me is very quick to format my pc....

Or, [just came into my mind] try installing this on a friend's pc!

Or its just a problem with dial up...

I have no ideias anymore.. it SHOULD be working....

hi there,thanks for your post..

well these are HCI and LMP specs.
HCI and LMP version : 1.2
HCI and LPM revision 1FE

with WIDCOMM i get only 700 Kbps speed, but with Bluesoleil i get a 10 Mbps connection..dont know what causes the difference, although this won't shine weather i have EDR or not...

no it's not a big job to reinstall the windows(takes time to install all my apps again though) but to format my hard drive yes it is a big job because i don't have a backup device....

i'm gonna try this on another pc which has a LAN internet connection...thanks buddy

and uhh sorry
but a weird problem is driving me crazy...

i'm not able to create that bluetooth data account any more( i accidently deleted it)....never realized how it was created, always was there...

but now,it doesn't like to show up again.it is supposed to be created by starting PAN network access point from PC side...but this method dosn't seem to work...

umm,do you have any idea on how to create that bluetooth data account with the name of my pc???

thanks

EDIT : well,i managed to create it...no,starting PAN service on pc is not the way,i simply browsed on the phone to menu-->settings-->bluetooth-->My devices-->my pc-->Connect.....
and now that bluetooth data account is there.

Yeah!

Is recreating the connection bettween your pc and phone!

Your BT version is 1.2, and you don't have EDR.. that's why you have a 700kbps connection... that 10MBps its not real... blusoleil is crap ^^
Your bluetooth adapter only supports 700kbps

BTW... while I was studying bluetooth technology and adapters, I founs out something... it seems to be that a v2.0 + EDR dongle, and a v1.2, have NO hardware differences... the only differrence is on FIRMWARE.

And there's a software outhere that can upgrade this dongle's firmware... It should be possible to upgrade it!

So... did you managed to get it working on that other PC?

Posted by decay_zeit
i've been busy lately so couldn't give it a try...

umm,how may i upgrade the firmware then?
a friend told me that he's got widcomm 1.3 which is able to upgrade the firmware,he says there is a Firmware Updater or something in the start menu under WIDCOMM submenu...i'll take a look at that.

Posted by pedrops
There's an enterprise that sells a BT adapter + software that can analyze bluetooth conections... and one of the tools of the package is this updater.
I found a forum that some people used that updater to change the firmware of a normal BT adapter into the proprietary adapter of the software.

is it possible to add the AD2P feature to my BT dongle???i miss it you know

Posted by ddeia
Hi, well, i get to config the Widcomm Stack for my phone access the Internet through my ADSL connection, BUT ALWAYS, ALWAYS, the bluetooth driver asks for the damn PIN!!!!
There´s a way to record it as is on the Blusoleil Stack???

Thanks

Posted by decay_zeit
well,i think i have this problem too...

no matter the phone is paird with pc or not, when i open my phone's browser,pc prompts to pair two devices...

the probable problem here is that when this happens, the pairing between pc and k800 is lost and this issue resaults to losing phone's Network Access authorization.i'm afraid if this is my problem...

Bem vinda Deia!

@Decay
I don't know much about upgrading BT dongles.. don't even know if its really possible.. but try searching on google for it! I know there's a software that upgrade... but you'll need a firmware of a new BT dongle too...
tell me if you find something!

Cheers!

i wanna active mi bluethoo whit my pc?

the thing is with PAN its to secure and only really designed for BT Printers and BT Modems and PC-PC also with most phones PAN isnt avilable we do know serial is though so in theory you can make a connection via the phones "serial port" and bridge it this should work...

note

firewalls will block this traffic (software) so if you already have a router make sure its set to strong if a PC user.

this is really the only way i can think of with most phones also my BT is only V1.1 so im limited anyway

i would recomend trying this on earlyer windows (2000/ME) as they have no bluetooth support without a disc windows cant interfer with settings (like XP/vista does)

one last thing

I assume no responasbility for the damage to any hardware or software (inclds phone firmware/memory) if you try these methods be my guest but i can not offer any support its all logical theory

Posted by slugworth
ok so far i have tried the following methods on the folling OS's
Windows 2000

Installed the bluetooth kernal from my disc and installed serialport PAN and diamup network

Serial port is a dead end to my knowlage as i have never used a serial to serial conection i dont really know what im doing the pc was set up to host the serial incomming traffic and i also bridged the connection to my LAN no joy just dead traffic.

PAN: as the PAN on bluetooth phones are limited it just acts on my S500i and my old w810i as a NAT and connects to the internet on its GPRS modem and the PC uses that, i think this is mostly a phone software issue

Windows XP SP2 Pro same results with belkin bluetooth kernal and windows.

so in my opinion its not possable on J2ME phones as ia phone is a modem the PC will always use it to conect to the web not visa verser. although J2ME cant do this im sure a Sybilion might be able to or any smart phone as they offer server and client functions there could be a java app out there so good luck and this was fun to try if anyone wants to try again on there equipment all you need is a BT dongal, Internet and a mobile

Set ur PC to Host Incomeing conections on w/e COM port your phone is using on BT. pair and wait. in theroy if the phone is a client iit should be able to use the ethernet/wifi/USB modem traffic and the PC should act as a 2nd NAT/network server/internet gateway

also i feel an issue is with the browsers as there are desgined to recive PD/SD from GSM/GPRS not pc traffic over ethernet/BT. as i said they maybe java software out there so please feel free to prove me wrong

you are dead wrong. I have had this working and sat in my lounge room everynight browsing the web with my handset, using the adsl internet on my computer via bluetooth PAN. It works and it works brilliantly.

Where the problem is, is that Bluetooth software has not been well designed to support PAN internet sharing. A certain version of widcomm works, and very few other bluetooth stacks (including other widcomm versions) work. So I don't think this is an SE or BT PAN issue but an issue with the bluetooth dongle vendors who are cowboys and wouldn't know a standard if it slapped them in the face.

cheers wedge but as i said its a ery limited test lol and im no expert glad you have yours working im using a belkin v1.1 a very early BT adapter i think im gonna get one with A2DP next and better PAN support

Sorry buddy, I thought you were calling me a lier

(I had stated clearly in earlier posts that i works, but it's probably a way back in the thread now)

In truth it's very frustrating, since SE say it works (and we know it does with the right version of widcomm) yet it seems very few adapters bluetooth stacks actually work with PAN network sharing, but all seem to support using the phone as a modem very well.

The cynic in me wonders if network providers have made sure bluetooth pan internet sharing is dodgy to force people to use gprs!

wouldnt suprise me in anyway shape or form lol

Hey Max!
I think the new deal is phones like W960, with WiFi... than you can have a real broadband on your phone!

Posted by max_wedge
That's quite correct. wifi is a whole different story. Wifi supports a proper tcp/ip connection and is designed from the outset to carry network traffic. Bluetooth PAN is an effort by the Bluetooth group to extend the usefulness of Bluetooth. However Wifi will likely replace Bluetooth for this sort of application.

Bluetooth might remain or be replaced by WUSB (wireless usb) for communication between small devices.

Any idea how to make this work using a K850i and Windows Xp SP2?

Don't really see PAN settings on this cellphone....

Posted by Sebby
I've been trying to get this working on my K850 for 2 days, but no joy.

Posted by Eraser212
Hello,

I also tried to get it working on the K850i for almost a whole day without success.
There is a Bluetooth Pan option in the Stream settings menu. If I set an IP address, the phone responds to pings, but internet access doesn't work.
There must be a way to use the pan account in the internet settings, otherwise it can't work I think.

Posted by Sebby
I've got the PAN profile under Streaming Settings but I can't do anything with it.

Posted by najx
i use bluetooth PAN profile (set on streaming setting and internet setting) on my k800 for browsing, but stream (audio, video) dont work , i see black screen and no sound.

when i use gprs profile stream is ok. where is tthe problem?

Posted by Zwaf
Ok guys,

I got a W810i so it's kinda strange I'm getting myself involved in this but I found a link to an other forum that claims to have the solution to make it work on a K750i and W800, but the problem is... it's in German.
The link is:

http://www.se-foren.de/thread.php?threadid=14456&sid=

2. Mit dem Handy über den PC ins Internet (Funktioniert über USB und Bluetooth)
Or
Connect to the internet of your PC with your cellphone (works with USB and BT)

I can speak a little German though but not enough to understand all of it. If anyone can translate it properly it will help a lot of us I guess.

This is just a stab in the dark, but could it be that your phone is always trying to connect to the IP address specified under your streaming setttings even when you are not using GPRS? And that is probably an internal proxy address of your network set up just for streaming?

Using this method, does the internet on your phone automatically use the broadband connection when the broadband connection has been connected? I mean it is kind of useless if you have to keep activating it every time because then the other method would be better where you could activate minibrowser.ink from your phone.

Some of you guys here are bunch of DOUCHE bags,

WTF, I've spent the last 10 minutes trying to some relative sense in respect to this god damn topic. Man, it's like reading a bunch of quotes from several annoying nerdish computer manuals.

Look. Could someone just list the damn solution, I don't give a shit whether it was mentioned before or up someone's ass. Just state the solution as to using your PC's Internet through your K800i
