the steps that i went thru, well i have followed yours, every bit of it... then installed widcomm drivers given the link of pedrops.
right now... this whole thing is about to tick me off...
if your lan is set to 192.168.0.1 then make sure neither the bluetooth network adapter nor the lan adapter are shared.
Unbridge adpaters, then disable any internet sharing, as ICS will force a 192.168.0.1 ip address and try and make your computer assign ip addresses (and will go against the router which is the only device that should be assigning ip addresses).
Then test your internet connection. If it's working, bridge the adapters and then test internet again.
then go on with my steps.

Hey man, abou the patch thing saying "zero bytes patched", note that even though it says "patch sucessfull" or something like this, and it does work, cause I've installed version 5.0.1.810 and patched with the patcher v2 from the gsmhosting link
and, see the comment when you launch the patcher...
"Tested on WidcommS:
5.0.1.801; 5.0.1.802; 5.0.1.1200
May also work on others, I don't know..."
so, it was made for 5.0 versions.. not the 5.1, but it works anyway
Were you able to actually stablish a connection bettween your pc and phone with the version 5.1?
cause I haven't with the 5.1.0.1700.. maybe the 5.1.0.1100 works, but I couldn't find it
about your connection setting problem, I think Max can help you better, since here I shared and didn't bridge.

Thanks man...I tried updating thru the ADSL connection...it downloaded the entire package and when it was verifying it said verification failed ...so did it through SEUS for the first time in my life and it worked properly
K550i to access the ADSL connection I tried out Opera 4 Beta..I would say it is COOL ...would have liked it better if there was a landscape mode

One thing, you'll never get the bluetooth network access working from the PC end. You try that once only, and in doing so a data account is created on the phone, but the computer won't be able to actually connect to the phone. You then use that data account in the default internet profile. Then when you go to an internet address, the phone innitiates a bluetooth PAN connection with the Bluetooth Network access service on the computer. It will connect from phone to PC but not the other way around.
It should have somewhere in the bluetooth settings in widcomm an option to always allow connections from a certain device without prompting. I'm using the belkin stack on my desktop, it's different to widcomm in layout.
You could use the serial connection to access your adsl by using the SE Java SDK proxy software, that's another method, but it can only be connected from the desktop end. What you want is to be sitting in the lounge, and be able to innitiate a connection without getting out of your seat.

Another thing that would be cool, is a java network client - so you can browse the files on your computer via network shares.
Posted by shyam335
If u happen to have some kind of web server (even the light-ies ),it enables directory listing, same effect as network shares...
so u can use the inbuilt browser itself..

ok guys!
ive been silly all along... it was just that easy...
at first when Max told us to let PAN connection run thru PC and Phone so that it will create a new profile for the PC...
i was always trying to work it from the PC... all along the trick was to work it out from the phone.. meaning make/initiate a PAN access connection from the phone to the PC. then viola! it will create a new profile on your phone but take not that it has established a connection... then just use your phones browser or opera and you can freely surf the internet using ADSL connection.. sweeet!
thanx for the patience... peace out!

hey!
I was just wondering if there's a way to do so!
can you tell me where to find such information?
@c_vignesh
It was my first update, cause SEUS never had an available update before ^^
finally they let it out, and I can say that they have changed a lot of little things

so its finally working?

cool ins't it?
Now I'm workin in a BT dongle hack, to add and external antenna. I've read that even a small omni antenna [5 or 6 dBi] gives a real boost in range.
And there are some diretional antennas for bluetooth wardriving

one thing with this method, (bridging) - if you don't have a hardware firewall you should run a software firewall.

I have managed to stream a few 3gp's.I used darwin btw.
I couldn't find any on the fly encode-streamers to play other formats.
You can also try with VLC..

Hi all,
i was just wondering,well i have a question...
does this work with a Dial-up connection?????
as far as i tried,it seems it doesn't,what do you say?
Posted by max_wedge
I don't think it's possible to bridge dial up connections. Try sharing the internet connection (the dial up connection), then connecting via PAN. (don't worry about bridging)
Bridging just get's around the problem with broadband connections where sharing the network connection can prevent the computer from connecting to the internet via the broadband router or modem. With dialup this isn't an issue as you don't use an ip address to connect to the dial up modem.

thanks for yout answer buddy,i'm trying all thing again and again, yeah sharing the dial-up connection is the way and i tried so,after so much ups and downs and having all setting mixed up,i accidently managed to get this thing to work but i don't know what happened then...
on the phone,i created an internet profile, connect using that data account which has the pc's name and a bluetooth icon.and selected this internet profile as default.that's all on the phone...
the PAN service was started and i shared my dial-up connection with these enabled : DHCP(68) , DHCP(67) , DNS ... using the IP address which BlueSoleil has had obtained : 192.68.50.1 ...............there should have been more settings but i don't know what they excatly are,as i don't know much of networking...
with all these, when i pressed the internet button on the phone, the phone stareted to connect and a dialog box in the pc appeared saying : a PANU(pan user)is trying to use dial-up connection and so...i hit Yes and a connection was established between phone and pc,i thought i had done it well, disconnected connections and left the room, now after hours i'm trying to get the same resualt again but nothing works....
i'm tottaly confused about pan,DHCP,TCP,DSN... what are all these????and what settings should i apply to them???
Posted by max_wedge
you shouldn't have to change dns, dhcp or tcp, these will all be set automatically by the isp and by internet connection sharing.
On mine I noticed it took a few goes of deleting the pairing and starting the process again from scratch before it started to work reliably each time.
Posted by decay_zeit
hi there buddies....
alright,i'm almost there, thanks to you guys max_wedge and pedrops for your help, especially that "how to" link provided by pedrops to install Widcomm stack,5.0.1v.(i was really really wasting my time using Bluesoleil)...
and also shyam335 who has experienced the exact same problems that i'm dealing with,he has got it working already but i have not.
every thing you suggested i followed step by step, unfortunatley no success yet...
the main difference here is that i'm using a dial-up conncetion and not a lan-high speed one...
i've got everything here,
1-the bluetooth data account on the phone and an internet profile using it...
2-having installed Widcomm stack,i've paired two devices...
3-i've checked Network Acces under authorization tab in K800 properties...
4-Bluetooth Network is connected with this ip : 192.168.0.1,it is steady and since i've checked "startup automatically" it would automatically conncet whenever i plug in the bluetooth dongle...
5-in Bluetooth Properties under the General tab,i've selected "Allow other devices to access the Internet/LAN via this computer"
6-when i press the Internet button on k800,a dialoge appears on pc saying that k800 is trying to connect, click to pair(not exact words),this pairing happens 2 or 3 times and after this a conncetion between phone and pc is established,
the bluetooth icon on the phone turnes into bluetooth connection icon(the bt icon with 2 arrows),
and the internal browser remains white and tries to download stuff, but nothing happens, this situation remains till i disconncet manually.
7-i've turned firewall off
8-i've shared my dial-up connection this way : under advanced tab i've checked "Allow other network users..."
as you see eveything is done, but not working,it seems that the problem lies in sharing my dial-up conncetion.
there is also some settings for sharing, look :
settings under ? sign, you see them, should i apply any changes to them?????
that is all on my pc and phone,i'm looking forward to having your help, thanks in advance

First goto find bluetooth devices, then go and pair with phone.
If its hows that its already paired (ie a tick mark in your device),
right click > unpair device and pair it again (now you'll see a two green arrows -><- in place of the tick) and goto authorization tab, tick on network access and then ok..
Try it now
Posted by decay_zeit
i did so,but what's the point???
there are those two green arrows --><-- by the phone icon, and by the My Network Access too in My Bluetooth Services window, and also the Bluetooth Icon in taskbar notification area is in yellow :
i've pressed the internet button on k800(homepage is set to default,wap.se.com i assume),browser is trying to load the page but it seems it's not working coz the page is still blank after mins, and it's not going to get disconnected unless i disconnect manually or exit browser on the phone...
what's the problem,i mean everything is ok,hell why does not the internal browser load a thing???
Posted by decay_zeit
tried again again, same resault...i say, everything is like perfect, except surfing with k800,but unfortunatley this is the main goal...
there is something interesting here, look :
after 5:30 minutes , dial-up connection has recieved 520 KBs,what kind of data is this 520 KB?it's obviouse that these kbs are recieved because of pan connection(i know,i've no third party app on Windows which probably want to connect to the internet)...
and on the other side, the PAN connection has sent 30 KBs to phone, and what does this 30 kb contain??i mean what data is transfered to phone while nothing is loaded on phone browser???
Posted by decay_zeit
again me:D ... please excuse me.
and now again,17 mins passed,2MB recieved by dial-up,and 56 KB sent to phone...how much kbs are needed to load google.com on phone??????
would you please help me???it's soooooooooooo kind of you buddies
Posted by max_wedge
strange indeed? try disabling the firewall (just as a test mind you).
Posted by rockygali
ei guys! i have also experienced this before my Bluetooth connection completely went to waste...
@max
remember that time when i said i finally made a connection from my phone to my PC. it was like 3 days after that when my system gone haywire...
the icons shows a legit connection and yet my phone is still on the process of connecting to my PC. it was just like that for the next 10mins.. and after that *poof* bluetooth connection failed.
so i went to unbridge-bridge steps with these connections, and the results where the same... so i uninstalled widcomm... after reinstalling, i cannot make Bluetooth LAN server no more.
now im looking for a different version of widcomm, the 5.1xx presumably.
do you have any other widcomm version besides 5.0.1.801?
im havin big troubles with that version.. even the provided patch doesnt even patch a byte...
Posted by max_wedge
I only have the belkin stack - my widcomm is installed on my laptop but I can't find the cd! You may be able to download it from widcomm?
Posted by rockygali
trouble!
the auto install update app from widcomm site tells me theres no bluetooth device plugged in... tho i do have the device plugged in. i can make serial port connection.
hhmmm
Posted by decay_zeit
alright, after these, making a connection between phone and pc is a piece of cake...
i don't think changing from widcomm 5.0.1 to 5.1.0 would hep coz i've got nothing wrong with current one, connections are steady and never a problem occures..
considering this,i believe the problem has something with my dial-up connection and the manner i should share it,take another look a this please :
i'm wondering if applying some changes to these settings would help, for example enabling DHCP or DNS or UPnP or so,editing each, shows a window in which i may assing an IP address, may be i should assign the same IP as PAN's????although i've tried so,no use...
i don't know,i wish i had access to a broadband internet connection...i'm nearly sure i would have successed in that case...
Posted by decay_zeit
but i'm wondering that how pedrops has got it working with sharing, maybe he can help, coz as far as i see there's no difference between sharing a LAN and sharing a Dail-Up connection...

hmm,a topic with a tragedic end:D
Posted by pedrops
Hi all!
Sorry for taking so long... I'm doing some research to customize my K800i... there are so many thing I should read first... going nuts...
@Zeit... there is a difference bettween widcomm versions... the newer ones doesn't work with bluetooth dongles that doesn't come with it. Even with the patch and editing the .inf file
@rocky
what happened with your PC?
do you still need another widcomm stack?
Don't download the latest.. from widcomm.. it will not work with the lates versions.. < than 5.1.1700 I think.
The ID trick only works with older verisons.
Posted by pedrops
@Zeit
When you share your Dial Up, don't you have to choose a network connection to share it with?
like the print screen under
and, just to try.. check all options under advanced tab, dont edit nothing.. only mark the options.
Than give a try
By the way... wich widcomm stack you have? Does you BT adapter came with Widcomm software?
@Rocky
Please tell a short history of what happened, and where you're now!
I've been away from this topic so I'm a little bit lost
Posted by decay_zeit
hi there pedrops,thanks for your reply,encouraged me:P...
well about the widcomm version,i've installed Widcomm 5.0.1.801 just as you've suggested earlier and since it's working good i see no need to upgrade to a newer version,on the other hand you are saying that the newer versions dont work with my dongle.....
my dongle came with Bluesoleil and it reads on the dongle : billionton
on the issue again about sharing my Dial-up connection, well i have only two connections,a Dial-Up connection and Bluetooth LAN which is created by widcomm,so while sharing,it doesn't ask me which LAN connection should it share the dial-up with, coz i've got only one LAN connection.....
and yes,if i enable my ethernet adaptor(currently disabled),i should select one of them...
well,i've already thought about checking those services under advanced tab,to enable them i must assign a name or IP address,or they would not be enabled,it says : "Name or IP address(i.e. 192.168.0.12)of the computer hosting this service on your network"???
my computer name is assigned by default, doesn't "Home or small ofice Network Wizard" set these settings automatically?
or shouldn't i apply some extra setting and changes??
anyway,i'm giving it a go...
Posted by decay_zeit
nothing...
there are two possibilities:
1-data transfer from pc to phone through bluetooth is way too slow, slow enough to have not anything on the phone.
2-there is no data transfer between phone and pc at all...
but i'm wondering why there is no errors with the connection
Posted by rockygali
@pedrops
well, to cut the long story short! i need a new installer of the widcomm stack.. how bout that?!
jk, actually you knew that i had this done way back.. and im quite happy with it. but at one point, ive removed my dongle to free up a USB connection for my printer, after that when i plugged it (BT dongle) back. i thought it was perfectly fine. but when i started connecting from my phone to the PC to use DSL connxtion... the phone was stuck at "Connecting..." stage. But my PC tells me that my phone is already connected (the icon turned green). but i cannot access internet from phone coz the "Connecting..." window is still there.
but other services are possible,
- serial ports
- file transfer
- obex
etc etc etc
EXCEPT for the internet. ive tried juggling the procedures but none of em worked. so ive uninstalled widcomm stack, try to setup fresh. but now the patch wont work, and the whole installation is buggy.
then i gave up... but i remembered you, and hoping you still have clean installers and a working patch... whew.. thats a mouthfull...
Posted by decay_zeit
i gave myself a few days off

If there is data going between the K800 and the pc a reason for not having internet acces can be an unvalid IP on the PAN network.
Look at the status of the (PAN) network icon in the tray and click the support tab, then you can see the IP address.
A known invalid IP address is 169.x.x.x.
This happens when a network connection tries to get an automatic IP from a dhcp server (xp has one) and it times out.

nothing,it is fixed now,the microphone didn't want to record any sound and the pre-defined apps were corrupted, they have reflashed the phone with an old firmware,R1JG001
i'm upgrading the firmware at the moment...
well, now that my k800 is back,i may like to get involved again, heading home and going to plug my bluetooth dongle again after days...
@Andre
hi there, thanks for your help buddy.
yes i know about IP invalidity, actually i was tough about this issue by yourself,a few pages ago...i remember having a 169.xxx IP and you warned about it...
the fact is curentlly the PAN connection has got a valid IP,192.168.0.1
which according to windows help is given to network users from 192.168.0.1 to 192.168.0.so far
Posted by pedrops
@Decay
If I got the R1JG001 I think I would keep that... video preview and long press browser button are really good... don't know why they removed it
=(
I think I'm running out of ideas to help you here... its very strange, cause everything seems to be right.
About those advanced settings, I tried with them checked, and unchecked
all the same, works anyway
so I don't think that the solution is there....
anyone?

hi there...
today a friend of mine sent me a link to a persian forum, and i finally did it......now i have access to internet on my phone through bt....BUT using a bluetooth serial port and not PAN and java SDK and JDK and Operamini which is a must....
therefore my internet access is limited to opera mini version 2,and i cannot download anything(just surfing),or have feeds or use update service, and also i cannot update java apps this way....
anyway,it is better than nothing thanks to my friend(useless at the end:P)
Posted by pedrops

you used device explorer right?
Yeah, that's very limited.. the nice thing is using PAN.. its just like the normal provider internet... you can download, use opera 4 beta
its so strange you cannot do it this way.... is your BT donge 2.0 +EDR?
Maybe something is wrong with your windows...

the thing didn't feed me,i'm still trying to get the PAN thing to work....
it is strange indeeeed,i believe there is something wrong with the dial-up connection....anyways,how may i check if the BT dongle is 2.0 +EDR or not????
and how come this could be of windows???since we use widcomm drivers instead of windows's????
hmm,makes me nervouse
