can a k800 access my adsl via bluetooth?

If I load the hyperterminal program in windows then connect to the com port thing that connects to my phone and type in ATI5 and press enter it gives me a load of output and part of it appears to be internet profiles. One of them is listed as:

EIAC: 1,2,"PanNapDefaultAccount"

Should this mean I can see this in my data accounts list in my phone? Cos I can't. Was wondering whether the item should have appeared the first time i connected to my phone with the computer using the phones internet?

Also, can someone try this who hasn't tried any steps to get the pan networking thing to work on their phone to see if it appears after that?

Thanks

I didn't on a M600.

Forget connection sharing. Bridge you bluetooth connection and the connection you use to connection to the internet.

Here are the easy steps

1. Setup a PAN account in yo phone. I assume that you now how to do that, pair your phone with yo PC etc.
Make sure that u add that account into the prefared group and it is the first one in that group.

2. On yo PC the network connections you need to bridge nust not be shared.

3. Select both network connections (bluetooth network & the other LAN connection) -> Right click and bridge connections.

4. On you bluetooth control panel enable the network acsess service / option.

Thats it.

If it all done correctly, if u go to yo phone and try to connection you might get a little popup from you pc asking to confirm the connection.

And thats it it should work

If uz not understanding what i'm saying please ask.

excellent solution, it's a bugger to share internet connection when you already have an internet gateway and network already configured and don't want to change your whole network setup (or turn your workstation into a bloody dhcp server!)

Good stuff!

And about PAN connection on my PC when it is on my bluetooth connection PC- phone drop down (only in dtat case)

Eny help would be appreciated!

hi there, after a while i'm interested in the issue again and i'm here to work on the damn BTinternet...

@speedyandre how are you buddy....congrats on your success...now after weeks that i'm looking at this issue from outside, the whole procedure really seems easy, but i know i'll get confused again as soon as i get involved...

@TeenInvader
thanks for your easy steps...the only step that i can't figure out is the fourth, would you please explane more???
and another question,i'm running PAN with drivers other than windows drivers(Blusoleil),would it be ok???

thanks...

Posted by decay_zeit
@miki331

to run a PAN connection simply turn on your phone's bluetooth, pair it with your pc,and then start Bluetooth Personal Area Networking Service from your bluetooth stack on your pc,be sure to enable Bluetooth PAN network adaptor first(Control Pannel-->network connections)

hope it'll help

hi everyone...a stupid problem i just encountered.
well i know i must make a bridge between PAN connection and High Speed internet connection...what if my internet connection is dial-up???
i can see Bridge Connections when i select 2 high speed ones, but Bridge option is not available when i select 1 high speed(PAN) and 1 dial-up...

what may i do??????

Hello,

Still cant seem to get this to work. I don't seem to be able to get that new data account to appear in my phone. Could it be anything to do with my phone being branded?

Has anybody had success doing this with an orange branded firmware pay as you go k800i?

Thanks

Posted by nandee
Hi!

I made it! I have k800i and hp integrated module with wireless tech, widcomm v4.

1. Just delete (if important) all the accounts from data communication (leave only the bt account) and from bt internet, delete all the profiles from internet settings
2. Make an internet and java profile (connect using: bt account), also streaming via bt account
3. Set up your bt device (local services -> network access properties -> set: allow other devices to access the internet/lan...)
4. Make sure, you have a bt lan connection under network connections (set tcp/ip auto or 192.168.0.1, subnet mask autofills, dg leave blank)
5. Share your internet connection for bt connection (properties -> advanced)
6. Pair your devices

The integrated browser works fine!

Hope this helps!
Sorry for my bad english

Posted by nandee
And if you have firewall installed, allow the internet sharing and the bt connection. (i use avg is, conf required)

Finally managed to get this to work. It needed a firmware update and now when I select my computer in the bluetooth device list and choose connect I get the bluetooth data profile.

I was trying to get it to work with the windows bluetooth drivers but had no luck, it didnt look like the computer was doing anything when it was trying to connect.

So I installed my old belkin software and tried with that. It seemed to try and do stuff, and there was a connection made but I couldnt access any internet. It looked like in the bluetooth lan connection status that IP addresses are not being assigned correctly. What is the correct way to enable the computer to be a DHCP server? (assuming that is what im meant to do) I cant seem to find the check box.

Also I have to access webpages through a proxy and was wondering do I just change the settings in the internet profiles pages?

Thanks

Hello,

I got this to work too. It did not work for a while becuase

1. you need your HOST PC appear under Data Communications -> Data Accounts. I still DO not know what I did to make this appear, but it's there now.
2. Then under Internet Profiles, create a new profile with "connection using" set to your PC's host
3. Enable PAN on your PC, then use "bridge" between bluetooth network and your LAN adapter which connects to internet.

That's it. Now I do not have to worry about data rates when I'm near my PC. It's cool to be able to watch YouTube videos on K790a!!

Later,
Yuri

Hi all!

@ the guys from the last posts... I've tried to use the DCU 60 [cable] to manage to access my pc internet

and yes, it's frustrating, cause i couldn't get this working.

A few weeks ago I could launch Mini Opera from the device explorer, but it froze up at 50%

so after many times trying this, I gave up and decided to buy a Bluetooth Dongle.

Unfortunatly I had to format my pc... windows crashed installing the drivers
So, with my system back and my bt dongle, I decided to get this finally working.

IT DOES WORK WITH BLUETOOTH.
but with Opera 2 ONLY!

So I thought, now lets try with the cable... and.. nothing!

I dont know whats the thing with the DCU-60, but it just wont access internet... it only launch the aplications

@ Speedyandre

I've been trying to manage the PAN access... but it's really complicated to set it up.

I'm using WindowsXP SP2.
BT Dongle encore [2.0 class 1 + EDR bla bla bla with blusoleil stack]

I've read people saying to:

- Start PAN service at the bluetooth software [Blusoleil in my case]
- Select the PAN network adapter conection, and the LAN conection and bridge.

**I can't do this... cause when I do, my PPPoE conection drops... and don't connect till i undo the bridge.

The thing is, I can start the PAN service on my PC, so what is the step to create the bluetooth data account?

- Do I have to enable "bluetooth internet" under "bluetooth" on k800, and use a profile of my operator?
How does the BT profile is created? When I get the PAN to access the internet trhu my phone?

I have a "neverbranded" k800 [bought it from SE directly]

so nobody locked any feature.

No BT profile is created.

So I've tried another thing someone said here, the Networking Wizzard... The interesting thing in this is that it does create a data profile in the phone

Than I tried using this profile instead of the BT profile...

I don't know what I did, but it worked for a while... when I started PAN service and launched the internal browser, it connected [but a globe appeared in the phone]

I had no credits [$] to access the net [at least i thought]... but it worked.. it connected and I went to SE web page, surfed a while [but it was always disconnecting and connecting]
and suddenly, it stoped working

I'll post some print screen with my network conections

There is a conection called "Conexão de entrada" wich allows Virtual Private Network
In the devices allowed to connect I can choose the LAP [lan access point] modem, and a bluetooth modem
the LAP modem was created from Bluesoleil, the Bluetooth modem i installed from SE drivers.

Can I go trhu this?

also, on my bluetooth software there's an option in PAN tab, the work mode, which one i choose?

And here are my conncetions
1 - My PPPoE to connect to the net
2 - My bluetooth PAN connection with the PAN Network Adapter
3 - My LAN connection, realtek ethernet adapter conected to my ADSL modem

My LAN is set to IP 192.168.0.1
My PAN to 192.168.50.1

I cant bridge, otherwise it drops the PPPoE

shall I share it?

What can I do to get this ffffff******** PAN access to work?

Posted by pedrops
Hey, I think I'm almost there

First of all

UPDATE YOUR PHONE SOFTWARE.

I finnaly got an update available from SEUS.
Updated my phone, and guess what, the nice BT profile was there.

Its simple as said it was, when you start the PAN service on your bluetooth software , and than check under >>Data Communication >>Data Accounts >> ^^[your PC name]

So now i set the Internet Profile, and Java Profile, bridge LAN and PAN.... and

nothing
=[

My bluetooth software has the option under
>> Work Mode to
-> Set up Bluetooth Personal Area Network with an option to Enable DHCP server

or
-> Access LAN Network with an option LAN Adapter : [Here appears my Enthernet Adapter connection]

*and when bridged LAN+PAN
[appears the bridge connection as selectable]

What do I select?
Set up the PAN with DHCP server or Access LAN thru Ethernet Adapter/or bridge and select here the bridged connection?

If I share the internet connection, it's the PPPoE to share or the LAN? Selecting the bluetooth PAN adapter connection as local connection?

[should I post some print screens?]

I decided to waste my time again after seeing this..
All i could find was ,the phone always broadcasts an ARP asking who has 169.254 /24 (Some automatic private address) and asks to tell 0.0.0.0..

This is what happens when i try to DHCP the PAN..
I know this is some problem with DHCP.
but seems im not good enugh in networking to find a solution..

If i try to set to access the lan network,it always refuses to connect and broadcasts the ARP for couple of time and then the PAN disconnects..

1 - pc hardware;

4 - and the most important What bluetooth stack do you have?

this what i did to get mine working:

1. setup paired connection between pc and k800
2. go into network settings on pc and enable "bluetooth Network" (using the Bluetooth LAN Access Server Driver)
3. Bridge the local area network and the Bluetooth Network
4. In bluetooth settings go into properties of the K800 and tick "Network Access" (authorisation tab)
5. On the K800, in bluetooth settings/my devices, select the computer and "allways Allow".
6. then go into bluetooth settings on pc and attempt to start the PAN Network Access Point (this didn't work - it just kept trying to connect on the phone but wouldn't) - even though it doesn't work, it creates a data account with the name of your PC in the Data Account settings on the K800. Disconnect the PAN Network Access Point service
7. On the phone, go into internet profiles and create a new profile, using the new data account (the one with your computer's name on it). Set this profile as the default profile.
8. On the phone, go into the browser, the phone will auto connect to the computer and you will be browsing the Internet using the computer!

If you have a manual IP setup on your internet connection on the PC, this may not work. But if you get DHCP off your broadband router this should work for you too. (note this method works WITHOUT having to share your internet connection - that's why the two networks are bridged)

Posted by pedrops
Yep, that's right

but you can only get this bluetooth options* with the Widcomm stack, and not with Bluesoleil

If you have IVT Blusoleil Stack you'll have to install Widcomm stack

You can follow the "how to" from here http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=342643

althoug, you will have to download a different version, search at Isohunt for Widcomm 5.0.1.801

the patcher v2 you can download from the guide.

On my PC bridging PAN and LAN didn't worked... my broadband kept dropping every PAN access

so, maybe you'll have to share your broadband with your PAN

For some, bridging is the way, for some others, sharing is the way.
And you MUST have Widcomm stack for this.

Posted by rockygali
owww, still dont get it..

you say i hafta download other widcomm drivers other than that off what showed in the forum (gsmhosting). then download the patcher V2. which will obviously not work because its for 5.10 versions.

i cant make a connection between my phone and PC. *toinks*
can sumone lay it out step by step... the one with gsmhosting is a step by step guide in installing a fresh bluetooth drivers. how can we manage a connection via DSL. (one more question, will all these work when your PC is on a LAN)

Posted by pedrops
@rockygali

First of all

What Bluetooth software do you have?

Posted by rockygali
@pedro

first i had Bluesoleil, and since youve mention that it will not work with BlueSoleil, i tried downloading WIDCOMM, 5.0, but that didnt work either, now ive found a 5.1 version.. still downloading and giving another try.

Posted by max_wedge
that's a bitch about bluesoleil rocky, good luck with the latest download.

once you get a bluetooth stack that works with PAN, you can do it on a LAN by bridging the Local Area Network connection and your bluetooth PAN connection.

Posted by rockygali
tho i just cannot find this option on K810

1. setup paired connection between pc and k800
2. go into network settings on pc and enable "bluetooth Network" (using the Bluetooth LAN Access Server Driver)
3. Bridge the local area network and the Bluetooth Network
this one --> 4. In bluetooth settings go into properties of the K800 and tick "Network Access" (authorisation tab) <--- this one!

yep. at first i thought they were fine... coz theyre easy to install and connect..

download is finished and im about to give it another go.

if you dont have Bluetooth Network icon, i suggest you do it all over again.

it happened to me... so what i did was to install the driver mentioned in the tutorial and so far i got it all working..

if you want to Bridge connections, you have to select 2 networks.

@Rockygali

I know that installing Widcomm stack isn't very simple. Cause you have to edit the btwusb.inf in order to work with your bluetooth dongle, than you have to patch those 4 files... and thaaaan you install, and its not fast

did you suceed so?

I think you did cause you're able to go further...

so I think you're almost there.

assuming you had succed installing wicdomm stack, and were able to start PAN

Tell me you followed these steps:
go to "My Bluetooth Places"
than -> "show my bluetooth services"
than ->

I know you may have it in english, but the position is the same

THERE is the place you have to share... by selecting the option "allow other devices to access internet/LAN thru this computer"

AND NOT at the "Network connection" place from windows...
here

1 - My PPPoE ADSL connection
2 - the Bluetooth Network connection [created by widcomm install]
3 - My ethernet adapter connection [LAN]

So, at 2, you DON'T SHARE!!!

its here you share

After this, you have to share 1 with 2
your PPPoE with your BT network

or

Bridge LAN+PAN [this didn't worked for me.. had to share adsl with bt network]

than

On your k800, turn BT on, go My devices, add your PC, connect to it.

Than a new data account should have appeared under setting >> connectivity >> data comm >> data accounts >> * [your pc name]

go back, and create a new internet profile, just pick a name and select connect using >> * [you pc name]

and thats it

now start the build in browser!

make sure to click the balloom that pops up [at your pc] when you do this, and allow the connection

there you go =]

P.S.
Sorry taking so long... but I'm kinda having some problems with my girl... and arguing with woman takes time... hahaha

hope it helps!

otherwise just tell whre you stuck and lets try to solve it

Posted by pedrops
@c_vignesh

You cant do this with the windows stack man...

check the link I've posted to Rocky... you must install Widcomm stack

@Rocky

what version did you get to work?
cause I had the 5.1.0.1700 and that didn't worked

so I went www.isohunt.com, searched Widcomm and downloaded the 5.0.1.801

and the patcher v2 do work for all widcomm versions =]

@shyam335

try accessing the net thru your phone.. don't try to start the service on your pc.

When you start on your pc you're doing it the way around... the PC using the Phone Internet

what we did here was accessing the PC net with your phone.

If you followed the steps, you don't have to launch any service in your pc to get access

sorry for double posting

ok,i managed to find my mistakes, but the problem now is,
I have a bt internet profile, just as u said, with a bt icon at the side of it..
I have configured my default internet profile to access through it..

I have given access to phone to LAN/internet in widcomm as you mentioned earlier..

but when i goto the browser and click a book mark, the loading sign appears for a second and disappears,Nothing is happening in bt icon.
That means its not connecting to pc?

also what is your pan network's ip?

@shyam335

Did you share your Broadband ore bridged LAN + PAN ?

If you have shared your broadband connection with your BT Network connection, windows will automatically set bt network to 192.168.0.1

Posted by shyam335
Yes,i shared my internet connection (ICS)..

How do i get rid of those prompts with widcomm, every time i need to connect it asks for passkey...

Ok,now i think ,i have progressed one more step, now the widcomm asks to confirm the network access when i try to access a site from internal browser, but still loading sign appears and it does not connect to internet....

Are you under a firewall?

Thanks for ur advice guys ! Installed widcomm stack and got my K550i working with my ADSL connection

Now I want to know whether I can use that connection to update software in my phone

Posted by shyam335
No im not under firewall, what happens is first phone try to connect with pc and asks for passkey in pc and then in phone.
Then a network access prompt comes up,but when i click to allow,it asks to pair again.
I think this is where the problem lies..
and when i pair again, phone says adding and continues the screen indefinitely.
I have to restart the phone to go back.
or if i dont add it just goes back and doesn't connect..

So is there any way to stop those annoying prompts every time?

Posted by pedrops
@c_vignesh

Your welcome budy!

yes you can use the update service in your phone.. but I think it's safer to do so with the SEUS program

I've updated my phone trhu SEUS, and everything worked just fine..

I think its more stable.. cause a BT connection may disconnect while the update... and that is not safe!!

@shyam335

strange this you are telling... seems that your PC isn't recording your phone...

did you try adding your phone under the menu "Add a bluetooth device" at My bluetooth places?

There you're prompt to set a pass key, than click agroup... than just follow what it says.

I think there must be an option to set remember the phone.. but I haven't set nothing like this... just added my phone at the "add bluetooth device", set the passkey, agrouped

and it never asked me to pair again

Anyway I'm taking a look here to see if I find anything related.. then I'll post

pair the phones before you try the network access. Also go into the authorisation tab andclick the "network access" box.

but when i used 5.1 the patch automatically worked.

the weird thing is.. i dont have Connection (1) like yours, all i have is 2 and 3. i dont have WAN or whatever.

connection might have an odd number depending.

Mine is "Local Area Network 3" bridged with "Bluetooth Network".

Important thing is the "LAN" connection you use should be the one that connects your computer to your router.

Posted by rockygali
yep thats it... its my LAN that connects to the DSL.

all in all i only have 2 connections
1.) My LAN that is connected to the DSL
2.) Bluetooth LAN (powered by PAN)

and if i make a bridge that would be my 3rd connection.

so wots in store for me now?!

Posted by max_wedge
once you have that bridge, make sure you can still use the internet! If you can, then go to phone and open the browser, what happens?

If nothing happens, ensure pairing is still good and make sure both computer and phone have "always allow" authority for eachother.

I'm a bit behind in this thread, can you step me through what you are doing start to finish?

Posted by rockygali
actually when i bridge the connections, my LAN is automatically set to 192.168.0.1

and unfortunately i cannot connect to the internet... i have a feeling that sounded like a bad news... isnt it?!

the steps that i went thru, well i have followed yours, every bit of it... then installed widcomm drivers given the link of pedrops.

right now... this whole thing is about to tick me off...
