Aerial for SE Phones

I use the radio quite often while i'm digging away in my garden and find it frustrating that i need to plug in my headphones to act as an aerial!

It annoys me that the headphones get tangled up and ruined way before their time.

I was wondering if anyone knows of or has seen anywhere for sale something like the following?

I made this pic very quickly in Fireworks so don't slate the quality lol.

But I think if you can't yet get this yet, it would be worth considering cos i would buy one!

I was only thinking about this this morning.

The aerial cable seems to get in the way and because the W900i doesn't have a built in radio, I think they should redesign the battery cover as an accessory that has a radio.

Just and idea

yer my other half has got the W900.

So if they did make this unit they would also need to make one for the W900 with built in tuner.

Cheap model with no tuner and only aerials for most models and for phones like the W900 have a built in tuner?!?!?

If we could find out the manufacturer of the headphones (obviously Sony, but deal direct with the factory or whatever), then convince them to sell me 1000+ units without the earphones but just the adaptor part and short wires. I could then re sell as aerial only.

hmmmmmmmmmmm

I sometimes used the audio jack adaptor that I bought as an antenna on my k750, this worked fine and the adaptor was cheap.

Where can you get these and how much do they cost?

Can you not just plug the headset in, and then switch on loudspeaker, that is what I do. Also Nokia did a desk stand that allowed you to use the handsfree feature, and radio, once the phone was docked in it, maybe the new desk stand music stands SE are doing, will work the same way.

@Only Me- yes, if you could ellaborate more on it! After reading up similar posts, I did pick one cheap grey market earphones up cpl o months back.. Cut them off gradually short till just a centimetre of the plug, but reception sucked quite . . . . @VolvoMan- that would indeed b a nice option if it were be.. mobility thou would be at stake.. As he sez gardening (or in *ahem* my case long reading sessions in the loo) wouldnt be easy.. a place to keep it all.. This plug with just the aerial thingy seems nice

Hi all,

I think your proposal of a very short aerial is not feasible since aerial needs to be between 50cm to 75cm (1/4 lambda). Of course it may work if signal is strong, but the longer the aerial the best is reception (always below 1m!).

If you want to listen to local station, let's try!!

Please read post again...i do use the headset and want to avoid this because it is getting ruined....I have an allotment and leave the radio on while i am digging away and the headphones are getting muddy and crappy.

But yer the desktop stand sounds like a good idea as long as it has an aerial built in for the radio.

cheers

You can do that by using Deskstand and MMC60 music cable

I think that the headsets are great, I use a sony bluetooth headset as I work in a busy factory and its briliant for making calls and err listening to music (when I'm supposed to be working!)

This would be a great idea if the average Joe just happened to have a dead handsfree floating around??

Cut a handsfree short, attach the ends to sometimi like tin foil and slide it under the battery cover to hide it?
