I av a k700i and i want a new phone, which is better? Nokia 6280 or K800

Posted by BobaFett
depends on usage. did u gave a try for both already? in a shop maybe or at usage?

Posted by Minstrel_Man
depends what your after in the phone.

Longer battery life, better camera, more memory, and an FM radio, I'd say k800 hands down.

Plus the 6280 is damn ugly..... reminds me of the Seimens SL10 from many a year ago.

Posted by QVGA
Most of the 6280's have questionable quality, but if you can get your hands on a good one, then its much better than the K800. It looks awsome with its slider and takes mind blowing videos at VGA resolution.

Posted by BobaFett
6280 is a funny fone, nice display, but very crap keypad imo, nothig special features.

6280 has a radio

sliders are old school.

Posted by BobaFett
and actually a very good one rdaio, not that advantaged as k8, but it fitted my needs. the batt of 6280 isnt that bad, 1100 mah.

And clamshells are the in thing? Right?

Posted by Minstrel_Man
did I say that?

Posted by BobaFett
slider is ok, not a big fan of them, but nokia choose the same solution in n80.

Posted by QVGA
The truth of the matter is that SE should adopt newer form factors by now. Its badly needed. W850 isnt a phone for everyone and neither is a W900. All their phones for normal usage are clamshells.
Look at the popularity of the V3 and D600

Posted by goldenface
But it already has a swivel, a slider and a slim candybar as well as a slew of clams.

Whats left to do? The v3 is for people that don't know any better.

Posted by Minstrel_Man
never could see the popularity of the v3 or D600, ok V3 was very thin and light which attracted people who used it as a phone only cos the features where pants!

But they are walkman ones. My dad isnt going to be running around with a phone intended for youngsters. He's 55!

think its better when the buyer tests both at usage and then decides. our experiences are individual on every area, i used 6280, it was accepteable. k800 is not interesting for me, netx to the 3.2 mp cam nothing special to offer after the former models, imo.

Posted by Minstrel_Man
Oh I dunno, stick a bit of jive bunny on there he might enjoy it (sorry Jive bunny was the only thing that i could think of lol)

Agreed. k700>k750>k800
The only emphasis was on the camera, and not on the phone it self. And k800 better have good built quality

Sounds like your awaiting the next evolutionary leap in mobile phones, although you have a cam, media player, wifi etc etc... apart from streaming tv what else can you think of thats gonna take phones to the next level?

until that time, you can only improve on existing models.

How about a symbian? And not those P and M series. Something thats easy to use like a 7610 and 6630.

Posted by BobaFett
dont know what future gonna bring us, my opinion is based on the present features of fones, like this topic to 6280 vs k800

Posted by goldenface
@QVGA.

The K610i is straight to the point, slim, no-nonsense, expandable mem. No Walkman, no Cybershot no gimmicks....

What was difficult to use about the P series? (cant comment on the M series)

if u believe me or no, one of the most disturbing thing is - at least for me - that cyber shot text on k800. it just ruins the cover, its still a fone, not a digicam.

I wouldnt call it simple. But they fall in a completely different category. And they're expensive. I'm talking about something like a k800 with symbian.
But there's gotta be a logic behind the fact that nokia has a lot of java based phones but SE has about 3 symbian ones.

This message was posted from a K700i

Why do you need to choose a new phone? Will you need a smartphone (6280)?

Will you use the cam in the K800i?

If you just want to upgrade to better handset then the K800i will be newer and cooler.

true, but "cyber shot" is a brand name, its associated with high quality pictures, for people who dont go into the details of phone specs you can look at the phone and instantly see its got a high quality built in camera, ok its not meant to be a digi cam, but this is what im saying about improving upon previous models until the next evolutionary jump in technology.

Whats your average joe gonna buy? a high quality mp3 player, a high quality phone and a high quality camera or a combined version of these with a memory stick, for around 1/3rd of the price?

Posted by BobaFett
and k800 has such a small display, i like big displays, like 6680, n70.

High quality cameras dont have crap like best pic. Seriously, are kids their target audience? Give some ISO and shutter speed options like samsungs have.

But not everyone knows so much about photography and what effect the adjustment of shutter speed will have on the image.

I agree best pic is a gimmick, something thats not really needed but looks good on the spec, becuase its new.

Posted by Minstrel_Man
Thats what im trying to say, by releaving new phones with better features, your eventually going to get something like a k800 symbian.

Personally I cant wait for that.

Posted by BobaFett
se offers p990 as advantaged fone for more features, but a "smaller" one would be interesting to see, with traditional keypad and next to it touchscreen, for everybodies taste.

Posted by QVGA
SE should also have optical zoom. That'll be awsome!

Posted by BobaFett
what do u think has 6280 or k800 better display? i liked the 6280 one, any of u had the chance to see k800 live?

I think k800 would win because of its alised fonts. But 6280 has a much bigger display, i think...

And they should make something that would compete with the N93

Think he was joking Bobafett.

have to admit the 6280 does look like it has a bigger display but thats relative to the phone, bit of an optical illussion, but then again, it does say that it doesnt have an FM radio

Posted by BobaFett
it has radio, trust me and very good headset with that switch and volume button on it.

Posted by Minstrel_Man
Oh I believe you, just saying that there might be a few other mistakes on there like the screen size, becuase it does look bigger

Posted by BobaFett
have to admit, that imo its bigger, but might be its just optical, cos 6280 is a slider, so its a bit tricky, let me check it somewhere else

Posted by brix25
Played with the 6280 last week and I can't imagine that it could deliver a knockout punch to the K800 after reading several favourable reviews.

Posted by BobaFett
both fones has the same screen size, checked it in several sites...

Posted by *Jojo*
'Will definitely go for the K800 here ! The Nokia 6280 is just an 'upgrade' (does not differ much) of the Nokia 6270 which I do not like the - design !
