This has been a bug in their earlier handsets (I know it was there in my k750), so I doubt it'll end up being fixed. Besides, most operators are shutting down their circuit-switched data services anyway, relying solely on GPRS/UMTS (and rightly so.)

After I disconnect the phone from my computer I get the message "Inactive SIM". I have to power-off the phone to reconnect to Orange.

Has anyone else seen this?

I had the same firmware, on a contract phone that I bought directly from O2 at the beginning of August. I flashed it to R1CF001 using the Wotanserver, which seems to be the latest generic firmware.

I got my K800 from Carphone Warehouse (UK), and it's unbranded.

My CDA is CDA102568/6 which according to this page is from Trade North Africa / Middle East - whatever that means.

Can anyone else who got the K800 from CPW tell me what their CDA is?

Is my CDA likely to cause any issues with SEUS in the future?

Hello

I have had my phone from CPW for over a month now and the same firmware.

No it will not cause you any problems when coming to update the phone.
The update may not be out straight away like some of the other unbranded ones, but it will update asap.

I hope this helps.

Hi Guys,

Found another bug today:

I have the headphones plugged in and i'm listening to the radio on my phone while i'm doing some stuff on my computer at work. I start to hear interference in my PC speakers indicating a call is incoming. The radio switches off and the phone crashes to a blank black (not white like others usually mention) screen. The phone reboots back to the main screen and the radio symbol is visible at the top but no radio sound is heard. The call was obviously missed but there is no missed call entry.

This happened to me twice yesterday so I did a master reset and it happened three times again today.

The callers phoned again a few mins after and when I asked each of them if they had called previously they informed me it started ringing before they were presented with a "This number is not recognised" message.

Is anyone able to replicate this? I doubt it makes any actual difference but just in case the frequency I was listening to is 99.5fm which is for Radio1 in the UK.

RA.

I WANT NEW FIRMWARE! NOW!

I'm wondering, my phone is not branded but it has a sim lock can I still update with SEUS if there is a new firmware?

I think I may have found another bug.

Software: R1CF001

Receive an SMS.
Read Message.
Start replying to message.
Cancel the reply.
Go back to the main menu and open your inbox.

SMS will be inserted into the SMS listing in your inbox in a different location to what it should (ie the inbox listing is no longer in date order).

I've had my phone crash a couple of times (including once where it wiped the date and time but nothing else).

My phone locks up sometimes even without doing that. Might have to do with when I lose total reception of the phone... one time the phone had a flashing white screen in my pocket, and the other... the phone locked up in standby mode... I could only see the wallpaper, time, etc.

Posted by mokkawokka
Another bug:

- When you set an alarm, the time it is due to go off is displayed in the bottom-left of the front screen, above where it says 'calls'.

- When you finish making or receiving a call, the alarm time is replaced by the call-time counter, and the alarm time moves to the bottom-right of the screen, above the date. When the call-time counter disappears after a few seconds, the alarm time re-appears again. You are then left with the alarm time displayed twice, both bottom left and bottom right above the time.

- If the screen goes onto a screensaver, or into and back out of the main menu, the bottom right alarm time disappears and things go back to normal.

lol SE have there work cut out. Im sure there programmers are on the case as we speak.
Actually wouldn't be surprised if there were 2+ pages on the changelog.

Do you really believe that? Really? The SE developers are going to fix the most important bugs, make sure that the release is stable and then move on. The problems or bugs are not major but some people tend to make them out to be the end of all mobile telephony. Then comes the wonderful people who will complain about the fix. Why didn't SE do this, or why didn't SE do that?

Let the whining begin.

Posted by altemyr
Reporting a bug in the firmware is not exactly the same as whining and weeping about it. The bug report is a documentation about a found bug, if someone else should experience a similar problem, then he/she knows that it's not his/her own particular phone that's faulty but the firmware, and that at least there's a hope for a fix in a future firmware release. Having the bug reported makes it more likely for the bug to be fixed than if it is not, and hopefully, people from 's firmware development department reads this forum as well.

I think the setup of this forum should be like this:

new topic: I found a bug, I did this and that and then this happened, etc. description

answers to that topic can be either one of:
a) I found that bug too
b) That bug is not in my phone(, and I have the same fw release)
c) This is a workaround
d) In this firmware release it has been fixed / does not exist

etc.

Hopefully the long awaited firmware will be out next week. Can't wait.

If your phone will not turn on anymore, it is probably not related to the software or will be fixed via a software upgrade. It appears that your phone is broken and you need a new one.

@sapporobaby

I hope so cuz my joystick didn't work perfectly either. And a new phone is always better than a repaired one.

@mokkawokka, I would like to ratify your bug with the alarm time being noted twice on the main display. At first I thought this might have been when more than one alarm is set, but it just repeats the one alarm time for some reason.

Good spot!

Email from SE:
This might interest you chaps. Upon contacting Sony Ericson about poor K800 media player quality (highly compressed sound, poor bass response etc, was what I noted), they provided me with this answer:

Quote:

Dear Jason,

Thank you for contacting the Sony Ericsson Call Center.

Our Head Office is currently looking into this problem. However, we cannot advise at this point when the fix will be implemented. Please try using the Sony Ericsson Update Service in about 3-4 weeks as a fix may available at that time.

Best Regards,

Sony Ericsson Call Center

Hmm...

Posted by Xugaa
No O2 firmware releases yet then...

Oh well, the phone is perfect anyway.

Posted by utsavtalwar
jasond this is really good to hear..

just hope they really fix the same..

cheers

It has been just verified by a local SE employee/technician which is a friend of mine that the new firmware will be available until Wednesday in Greece and of course most European countries too.Can hardly wait for this to become true.

This might be of interest to you all

Click on this link for the latest firmware on some new phones now.

http://www.mobile-utopia.com/[....]nyEricssonK800i%7Bfs%7DR1CF001

Then scroll to SUPPORTED PLAYER FILE TYPES

Look at the capture and playback in video that the phone should be getting?

I suppose on the new firmware R1EB004 it may be even better?

I know that this isnt a new firmware. However This is the firmware that is current on some phones and im aware that you cant record in the video format in some formats.

From wht i can see, the firmware has a lot more things that we can do?

Posted by SE Rules
OK I got it, but I can't see them impemeting H264 yet, I think thats quite a while away yet...

Cheers

Posted by darrengf
Any thing is possible with SE.

You dont know what is up there sleve.

But I cant wait for the new update.

I bought a N80 a month before the K800 and I luve the N80 for its video calling function. I think the K800 has poor blotchy video calling, So i hope this is fixed or improved with the new version.

Posted by SE Rules
I much prefer the N80's video, but H264 is based on HD, thats why we won't be seeing that for a long time, let alone opn this phone...

We can only hope that increase the resolution and framerate of the video, the phone is more than capable! Damn you

Cheers

Posted by darrengf
Yep im also not sure why SE didnt increase the video framerate

The K600i is so much better at video calls that the K800. which is a mega shame.

I use the video function alot.

I have 4000 of free video mins to use, and now that more and more of my friends have video phones i like to use them. Well its nice to tease when im in the pub having a drink and there not. lol

Maldus,

The K790i does not have a video call camera, but you have specified in your firmware details that your "Video call camera current: 2.3" how is this possible?

Posted by maldus

So what does this mean? That you made it up? How can you confuse this? It is either in your phone or it isn't and from the looks of it, it is not in your phone but you reported it as being there. You can see where the skepticism comes in about your posts.

Posted by maldus
dude u dont get the point.....
i copied these details from another post so that i dont have to type the entire thing.... made the changes according to my phone...but i forgot to remove the video call tht was mentioned....
it ws copied just to save time by typing each n every letter
