just tried with my sis K800i... still no R1KG Apac version available! probably have to wait for another week???

Posted by viralsanghvi
Anybody here who has upgraded their fw to R1KG using WOTAN?

is the camera A button working for scrolling in the file manager?

can someone pl tell me what is the difference between upgrading via SEUS or wotan?
they both load the same firmware right?

m asking this cos its gettin really frustrating without the CAMERA A button, i was so used to it before!

a friend of mine updated his k790i from r1cg to r1kg directly using SEUS and his CAM A button is working perfectly!

whereas ive been updating my k800i everytime SEUS has a new firmware, and since r1k, the button is not working

R1KG001 is available only for some CDA s as of now. Your CDA phone may be one of them. You should wait.

I used Wotan and camera A button, the one far from Video Call camera, DOES NOT work in scrolling up and down in file manager. However, button B, the one close to Video Call, works just fine. You can always use button B, right?

And yes, Wotan uses original firmware from SE.

i flashed and updated my k800i last night from RED CID49 to CID52 and then installed the newest firmware R1KG001. (30.04)

All worked without a problem. I needed 2 credits and used Wotan Client running on XP under Bootcamp on my macbookpro.

phone is running much better now...

I have to use Bootcamp too, as Parallels desktop USB support is not stable enough for flashing, it's failed before...

About time there were some Mac apps to do this, I assume if SonyEricsson release a Mac app, then others would follow as they seem to use the SonyEricsson driver.

OK, just flashed my beloved old fellow K800i to APAC R1KG001 via Wotan. I get my Bahasa Indonesia again...what a relief after a month in EUROPE 5 CDA. All works just fine. Just wonder, is it already out on SEUS for APAC users? Time will tell, then...

Is there any chance of a similar thread for the K810i?

The firmware of K810i is similar to K800i as it is of the same platform.

have tried to debrand my k800i RED CID51 on wotan this morning, it apppears that the Wotan client has frozen half way through. should i unplug my phone or just leave it for a few hours and hope for the best??

im hoping i havent killed off my phone. any help will be great.

steve

Posted by aremaboy
Once I had Wotan frozen. Just unplugged it and repeated the action. It was just fine after that.

Posted by bricked k800
cheers mate. i waited abit longer then tried again. worked perfectly. was a bit worried though with all the 'DEAD K800i' threads!

Posted by aremaboy
Well done. Wotan is always the best. By the way, did you get the strange 1E0W or 99E0W under your customisation info? I find a way to make it gone away actually..no more that 'silly' string on my phone.

Posted by vacheron
aremaboy , how did you make this 1E0W massage gone ?

Posted by aremaboy
To eliminate 1E0W or 99E0W or any E0W when using Wotan Server is very easy actually.
- Always remove SIMCard and M2 before flashing
- After flashing is completed, take out the battery for some time.
- insert it back.
- REMEMBER: NEVER putting back the SIM Card and M2 after the above step.
- Turn on the phone and wait until 'Please wait' bar is totally completed.
- you have two options now, Normal or Flight Mode. Choose either option.
- turn off the phone.
- insert the battery and M2 back now.
- turn on the phone again.
- voila..check, NO strange 1E0W, 99E0W or else under customisation.

It's actually there, implicitly stated in Getting Started Guide by Wotan Server. It was my carelessness in the past that I wasn't aware of such important steps above..hope it helps.

Posted by vacheron
Thank's aremaboy .

Posted by aremaboy
People tend to impatiently insert the M2 and SIMCard as soon as the flashing is completed WITHOUT WAITING the 'please wait' bar completes itself. So, always remember this. I made the same mistakes several times until I realized it and happened to know it by accident. Stupid me LOL.

Guess what, your warranty doesn't void although you flash it 100 times by using Wotan SE won't see any 'clue' at all as the firmware info is 100% the same..

thnks for the info..

I flashed my K800i with R1JG001. No problem at all

One question. Anyone seen any problems with R1JG001? Do you guys think I should upgrade to the newest firmware? Or stick with the one I have now?

Posted by aremaboy
If there's something improved about a firmware, why don't you upgrade? You will get improved Java engine.

Posted by DCUK7
Does R1KG001 still have the video previews removed?

Posted by SE-Naz
There is no preview of videos in file manager view

Cheers

To me that sucks unfortunately. It was a really nice feature. They could have just added an option to turn it off/on.

How about that 1E0W thing in the firmware info? That could provide clue for critical SE service centre. I don't have that when I use SEUS.

I would say that the most noticeable difference between the R1KG and the R1JG that I had before is the extreme slowdown in saving pictures.

It now takes appr 15 seconds (!!!) to save a 3mpix pic in normal mode compared with the maybe 5 secs it used to take...

Anyone else noticed this bizarre slowness?

As I posted before, I managed to get rid of that E0W string forever. Read my previous posts.

No one else has this 15 sec saving-time for pics with R1KG?

Disable time/date stamp. It will save pics almost instantly. This prolonged saving time is 'normal' in this f/w version only with date/time stamp enabled.

Posted by BlurryEye
Thank you! That was the solution.

SE must really have messed up some code when they changed from green date/time stamp to this red one...
Very bad since I really like having the stamps in my pics...

Agree.. But whats the point of changing from green to red date stamps anyway?

Hi there, my K800 has a strange behaviour: sometimes while using the joystick, the screen powers down "a là" power saving mode... at that point need to press the "<-" key to bring LCD on again.

Did someone experienced the same?

Hints:
1) firmware version:R1JG001
2) Two firmware updates a go, the update process stopped, and was afraid the phone couldn't boot up again. But it did.

To make it exactly as the standalone Cyber-shot digital camera, may be? If I'm not mistaken the date/time stamp is red..or am I wrong? Can't exactly remember..

The firmware of the K800/K790 can be upgraded either over the air by selecting Settings / Update Service / Search for update or via the more traditional (and potentially cheaper) method of the Sony Ericsson Update Service. In order to use SEUS you will need to have internet access (preferably Broadband) and attach your phone to your PC via the supplied USB cable.

On my 3-branded phone I cannot upgrade over the air, and nor can I use the SEUS as I don't run windows. What are my options?

You can provide more information about which particular OS you are using.

I am on a Mac and boot camp is the only stable solution for me, virtualisation isn't stable.

Linux, Ubuntu 7.04.

Try this:

1. Enable screensaver
2. Disable screensaver

I had a similar problem before and it got fixed by doing the above steps.

Bootcamp is still virtualization but anyway, I have used both Parallels and VMWare and they work fine. Maybe it is your Mac configuration.

Sorry no way I know. You can maybe borrow a friends Mac with Parallels/VMWare on it, or a Windows PC, or go to your local SE service center.

Another question guys, is there a way to let any key to "wake up" the phone? I don't like the "<-" key as the only one to wake up the phone

Wake up as in bring the phone out of standby/screensaver mode? Any key (not just the "<--") works except the joystick doesn't it? Lol

Simple. R1KG001 isn't available for your phone CDA (customisation/language group) yet. Remember, not all CDA gets it as of now. Check www.wotanserver.com to find out which language group gets R1KG.
