I figured they won't post anything on SEUS yet since it's the weekend, what do you reckon? might be worth a try later though, when I'm on my laptop.

update: Sunday morning and no update yet. another 24 hours maybe? but I'm not hoping for much with this release, changes are probably going to be 'under the hood' as mentioned. still, be good to have a new firmware. change is good .

Posted by bodum

Someone on other forum said it is R1KG001.

The major changes of R1KG001, let me repeat my findings and other members too are:
-improved Java version to 7.4
-disabled video preview thumbnail to sustain stability
Damn. I kinda liked the video preview feature when they got it to work on larger mp4-clips. I had no problem with it. Is there really any reason to upgrade then?

Any noticable improvement in the java implementation?

there's a new thing ( a problem actually)iv noticed in myK790i

many a times when i remove the mem card(with the phone on) to transfer data onto it using the m2 adaptor provided with the phone , after re-inserting the phone seems to have problems accessing the mem card.

for example contact pictures are not displayed when u receive a call or sms.
i have set the phone to save pictures from the cam onto the mem card.
when i clicked pictures , instead of getting the normal "saving" on the screen the camera exited to standby mode probably coz it couldnt access the mem card.

i have had this similar prob in the previous f/w R1GB and now on R1JG.

could it be that the mem card has become corrupt or a f/w issue?

this doesnt happen too often though.

as aremaboy mentioned, too many sms is probably the cause. I'm on R1JG as well, and when my inbox exceeds around 300 messages, the lag thing would start.

ive figured out the prob... when "no detail", no lag at all.. but when in detail mode, there starts the latency... not a major problem though.. nwei, still no APAC on seus...

I can confirm that SEUS has uploaded R1KG001 for several CDAs, including EUROPE 5. Just ran SEUS with my EUROPE 5 CDA and R1KG001 is available. Good luck for those with this CDA. I'm about to test whether APAC is already available or not.

Posted by aremaboy
No, as of now APAC R1KG001 hasn't been released by SEUS.

R1KG001 for CENT_EUROPE is on SEUS too.

Posted by aremaboy
Thanks. It's always advisable that you also post which CDA/Customisation you have with SEUS R1KG001. Just wonder, anyone with SEUS R1KG001 Taiwan, HongKong and China?

Posted by Vercetti
I just updated my phone trough SEUS and I got the R1KG001 too for Europe 2.
Could someone please tell me what the improvements are. I only found one: the date stamp in the corner of photos you took was green and now it's red.

just updated my branded o2 k800i on seus to R1KG001 leicester uk

Posted by Sky Hi
Is KG out on FOTA?

Posted by chadiwrx
Just updated to R1KG via SEUS Europe_2

Posted by aremaboy
It seems R1KG001 won't be released for CHINA, HONGKONG and TAIWAN main firmwares. Only GENERIC main plus several operators get it. I've been watching it on Wotan for 3 weeks and there's no sign of any such availaibility. It means this time APAC, TAIWAN and HONG KONG customisations are excluded. Can't see any reason why. This phenomenon takes place for R1KG001 W850, K610, and K790 of similar firmware platform as well. Or we should be more patient of waiting, uh? It may be the case. Or this European-based release is a sign of the end of K800i firmware development? However, after Google-ing a bit, found out that SETOOL said R1KG001 is pre-release MR, therefore not all filesystems are available. Pre-release but it is out on SEUS? Can't explain further.

just updated my K790i here in India to S_Asia_Levan CDA 102568/110 to R1KG001

the game A button still doesnt work for scrolling purposes, the same problem as in R1JG001

thats really disappointing by se.....they should have taken care of that.....the game B button works fine

i thought it was resolved in R1KC001 wasnt it @ aremaboy

i checked the video player right now, it goes into standby after a few minutes just as before. so i wonder what improvements have been made here?

this is really very disappointing.

I upgraded my K800i to R1KG from R1ED about two weeks ago and noticed that my battery life has decreased quite significantly. Standby times have been reduced from about 5 days being the usual to needing to charge the battery every 3 days now.

Is there something in the new firmwares that increases power consumption in the phone?

Posted by cyber4o
remove the 3G and GSM from Mobile Networks and you will get your battery life back

Are you really complaining about recharging your phone every three days? Really?

I just upgraded to R1KG001. The very 1st noticable thing is the date stamp has changed from Green to Red. More importantly, I have also noticed that the time it takes to save a picture after taking a photo is longer. However, I think this has come with an improvement in picture quality. i.e. since getting my K800 a few weeks ago I have been disappointed in the quality of the photo's as every photo seemed to have jaggered edges. I have done some quick tests with photos under R1KG001 and I think there is a marked improvement. Anyone else noticed this???

Posted by aremaboy
Hi, I don't even know that the date color changes to red as I always disable it. Photo quality wise, have no idea about it. I always think photos taken with K800i, from R1BC to R1KG, produce great images. Noises and blur here and there are just normal as it is whatsoever a camera phone, not a Cyber-shot standalone digital camera. That's why I always say there's no major noticeable changes in this R1KG001. The picture quality may increase, I simply can't differentiate.

Posted by chadiwrx
Another change in the R1KG now you can set images of greater than 1mb as wallpaper.

Okay, let me answer your queries--- that's an old firmware indeed and you are advised to update to the latest, R1KG001 or R1JG001 depending on which region you have. Run SEUS.

Posted by aremaboy
BTW, Just tried SEUS and it still said that R1JG001 is the latest for APAC. Why doesn't SEUS update it to R1KG001 like it used to be previously.......

Posted by saeedri
Sorry..... Very sorry
I didn't understand you my bro..!!!!
I'm asking again please: I have to flash my phone to a new firmware or not?
I'm asking because i bought the phone two days ago and i set the camera but the photo's are unclear and very blurry.
The photo's of the k-610 is better !!!!!

Posted by aremaboy
YES. YES. YES. Flash your phone to the latest firmware. You said K610 takes better picture? Oh, no...no..

Posted by saeedri
So how can help me?
How can i flash my phone?

Posted by dragon10
What are the new features in R1KG001?
As I knew the Java engine, content version and text version are updated, but Camera and LCD software have not been changed.
What are the obvious changes in this version?
mwarner where are you?

Posted by darrengf
Thats the problem.

We cant find any new features of the phone. r1kg firmware

All i can say tho its extremely stable.

Not one crash at all

Posted by saeedri
So how can i solve the problem?
When i take a person photo the face is blurry

Posted by Yanosh94
I have found a little correction of a bug in the media player.
Now M4A album have they're song correctly arranged by track number instead of shuffle organisation in R1JG

Posted by aremaboy
I always update to the latest firmware as it always worths it despite having no thorough knowledge of what is improved inside the phone. The improvements may lay deep inside the firmware, unnoticeable by laymen and end-users, but does it really matter? SEUS has the firmware update for free. What we should do is just a simple effort, plug in our DCU-60 along with proper internet connection, wait a moment and voila we get the new firmware. There must be something in new R1KG001 though it's physically out of sight. I usually reported changes and my findings about firmwares updates because I found them--simply saw, experience and felt them, then posted them here based on my humble observations. As I'm not a programmer at all, indeed, I won't go to immense trouble digging deeper into Java language programs just to find out what happens. So guys, just update the phone. It may be the final firmware for our old K800i. We've reached the peak. We may get 'bored' with this toy as new products are already on their way. Look at K810i, P1 or even Nokia N95. Just feel it yourself people's reaction to the release of SEUS R1KG001 here in Esato. Frankly, it isn't that enthusiastic as the releases of R1ED and R1GB or R1JG. Why? Because of the stability we have now and as people have said bye-bye to K800i.

Posted by Yanosh94
I have found another big improvement.
The read and write autorisation are not needed now for all application ( you must valide it just the first time) , i test only on ten application.

Don't have a shaky hand when pressing the camera button. Wait at least 1-2 second after capturing an image. It's a matter of techniques; the same thing is also the knowledge of how you update your phone. What you need is Google Search Engine with proper keywords and willingness to read, read and read. Good luck.

Posted by bodum
saeedri, it's all there if you even bother to read it. why are you behaving this way? what's your problem? we all start out as newbies in this matter, but most of us take the effort to read and research, not shout about like some kid throwing a tantrum. nobody here owes you anything, mate. so please, shut it and do some reading. go away if you don't like what's being said. good riddance, I say.

@yanosh

nice to know that the tracklisting for m4a has been sorted. that's been bugging me for quite some time already. thanks for the update, and do post any other findings. now, if only SEUS made R1K available for APAC...
