No new firmware here in Europe for my K800i, i've still got R1GB.

Posted by nats168
One thing I noticed from R1G to R1J is that the animated standby wallpaper is much faster.

I'm in Europe and I just updated via FOTA from R1JC002 to R1JG001. Previously I had R1GB001(updated with SEUS). Update was something like 1253 KB big and it took maximum 10 minutes to download and complete the update. Pretty fast I think.

My version is Mediterr...for Romania, Bulgaria, Greece, etc.

f/w R1JG001 (070214) to R1JC002: Heard that the R1JG001 "working better" in many operators network.. So if you have a nonbranded device, in parts of the world where this f/w is available (shld be MOST countries by now - or very soon). There4 what some of u experienced, is most likely correct = better sound/speech quality/better HO's/Soft HO's and fewer dropped calls etc. This f/w is available for W850 AND WILL SOON ALSO BE AVAILABLE for K/Z610 / W/Z710 (SEUS). So this f/w is "def more than it seems"/Matt

Yes, Wotan Server has provided R1JG001 CID 52 flash files. It's a bit too late as SEUS and FOTA have released it. It may be due to CID 52 that made Wotan delay the release. It will take 1 credit to be CID 52, right?

bug report:
just updated to R1JG via SEUS. noticed today that one of my phonebook entries duplicated by itself, and when I tried to delete the duplicate, the phone hung. any of you experienced that before?

also, my k800i has dust under the screen at the left lower side ...

I can confirm that R1JG001 for unbranded K800i is available in Sweden since yesterday via SEUS and FOTA.

I can too. Tried it yesterday night. I really like how it now doesn't hang when previewing large high quality videos. Now it's just as smooth the small 3gp clips. The phone may be faster too. It could be my imagination though.

Posted by aremaboy
R1JG001 is awesome. That's all. And it may be the final firmware before K810i is released at stores. Ah, what a long journey to get a better phone. Updates, bugs, improvements and enthusiasm to get newer firmwares--all has been here in this very thread.
BTW, anyone knows how's mwarner--the OP--now? He's been away for months and leaving the 1st post unrevised..

You should defenitely upgrade your firmware. They have added a few new features as well as made it faster and ironed out most of the bugs. Don't know if there is any SEUS client for Mac though. You can always take it to a SE service center if there isn't.

No way at all of upgrading on a Mac unless you have an Intel-Mac, and are using Parallels Desktop or VMWare Fusion. I have done the upgrade for my SE, and my Nokia and encountered no problems at all. Your only option is the local SE Svc Ctr.

By the way, I am moving away from SE because they said they have no plans to support the Mac platform. Nokia on the other hand does support Mac in most things and will have a syncing client coming soon.

All 100% OK

Posted by Horonaim
bah. too bad i couldnt try this f/w as I sold my k800 a few days before this was released.

Posted by hanugro
Just install R1JG001 for APAC via SEUS. Unlike any other firmware update this one does not seems to install anything when you first turn on your phone after updating. All is OK have not tried video preview as I prefer list anyway.

What do you mean by not installing anything? You mean the 'please wait' bar? I DID have that 'please wait' for about 5 seconds.

Hi guys,

Is there anyway to pre-download the firmware to the HDD then upgrade? Cause the net connection here is very bad... I'm afraid that it can disconnect and messes up my phone...

Please advise.

Yeah, nothing at all. I almost think that the phone is not updated. I go downstair for 10min (the computer is downloading about 55%) and when I go upstair I found that SEUS said update complete. Unplug the phone, put SIM card back and turn on. It is like ordinary turning on phone. No please wait, no progress bar, etc. Check the firmware it is already R1JG001.

Don't worry firmware won't be installed until download is completed. Newer SEUS client also seems smarter and can resume download. If you are worry you can delete download folder within SEUS to let it restart the download instead of resuming.
What you have to make sure is your computer have UPS so it is not off during flashing the firmware.

I just helped my mate's K800i updated to R1JG001 by using these steps. Sorry if it sounds stupid and an old news, I just felt happy that I could help my friend despite his low bandwidth internet connection:

After updating my own K800i to R1JG001 via the broadband connection, I noticed that the Update Service folder, usually as default located at Drive C of the PC, has increased in its file size. It means the downloaded files are saved somewhere in the folder. I just don't know where. It may be in the db sub-folder.
Then I copied the entire Update Service folder, burned it on a CD.

I went to my mate's home to help him update his phone.
1. On his PC, he ran SEUS.
2. At the end of installation, I suggested that he unticked the option "Run Update Service", so SEUS isn't launched.
3. I pasted my Update Service folder in which R1JG001 files are saved to his Update Service folder. It asked to replace the existing files, I said Yes to All.
4. He ran SEUS.
5. SEUS directly came to Checking for updates and Finalisation.
6. Then Selecting location.
7. Phone detection: Hold C...release C...
8. Continue update? Yes...
9. SEUS showed downloading files only for 2 seconds and directly came to Updating phone, don't touch it....
10. Update finished.
11. He got R1JG001. It just took less than 10 minutes.

We are of the same CDA, of APAC customisation. So it worked flawlessly although his internet connection was so slow...
The point is, he didn't have to download the R1JG001 files. He still however needed the internet connection just to run the updater/ SEUS itself. But the speed wasn't a problem at all.

R1GJ001 available in Greece

Just updated... It seems that this firmware is slightly slower than R1GB001... Anybody else thinking the same?

Also, it seems that in this new firmware, after playing a video with the file manager in Landscape mode, the phone instantly turns into standby mode.
It didn't used to happen in R1GB001...

Posted by Phantom
i got the apac update successfully. i noticed that pictures seem to save faster after they are captured and the file sizes are smaller as well. also, i now have multi-character search which i didn't have before.. so far this update is good.

Actually my k800i is much faster on R1J than it was on R1G.

hi guys, i'm new here. i have a K800i Hong Kong version, current software version is CX1250215 R1CB001, if i upgrade to the latest firmware, do the phone still able to read and input chinese character? thanks...

Today my K800 hang for the first time. It has R1JG001 and I forgot to push the HBH-660 button after the conversation. After a while when I tried to call via HBH-660 again the phone hang. I had to take the batt out. Fortunately I already got R3A016 EROM and the phone seems OK after that.

Posted by NoSubstitute
I just tried SEUS here in Sweden and it only installs R1GB001 on my phone.

I have EROM: R3a016.
It's a Vodaphone regged phone, btw.

Ran Davinci's client on it to gather some info:

***
Client Version 18.3
Detected SonyEricsson: K800/K610/Z710/K790/W850.
Phone Color: Red
Phone CID: 52
Status Ok, OTP Close, CID49, PAF1
Phone EROM: R3A016 prgCXC1250461_EROM_DB2020_WILMA_FOTA_SIMLOCK_FLAFLA_SIBLEY_SEMCUSB
Status Ok, OTP Close, CID49, PAF1
K800 recognized!
***

A quick look there gives me two different versions of the CID!
Both 49 and 52 is listed. How is that possible?

On a totally different note I accidentally killed my phone this morning!

Halfway through the update my laptop died ... imagine my screams.
Resarted and tried agan and it died on me once more.

WSOD!

Grabbed SEUS installation at work and ran update to "same version" and it runs fine now. But on R1GB001 as stated before.

I just upgraded my K800i. I think the latest is R1JG001

Posted by steviedb
I've seen that a lot of people in the forum have said that SEUS says there are no updates available even when there are - some people are able to update when others can't. Does anyone know why this happens?

I had O2 branded R1ED001 with CID 49. As expected, SEUS said firmware is up to date so I updated on WOTAN to unbranded-uk R1GB001 keeping CID 49.

What I don't understand is why SEUS says this is the latest firmware - I thought R1JG001 was the latest?

Anyway, I updated my CID to 51 on WOTAN thinking that this was the problem. Still, SEUS says my firmware is the latest and refuses to give me R1JG001.

I'm sure someone said that SEUS will update your CID too if it needs to (to 52 for the R1JG001)?

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks for any help.
