i have R1GB001 on my k790i with R3A016
while using the camera, after sliding the cover the screen went blank and then i had the white screen ( the one u have using nokia's torch application ).
it didnt flash or blink or move. the white screen just stayed there for a few minutes before i had to remove my battery.
this is the first time ever iv had this problem. no other problems with the phone at all.
what could possibly be the reason for this?

R1J is avalible via FOTA today. Checked SEUS but it wasnt avalible there yet, strange maybe tomorrow? Updated my gf K800 to R1J via FOTA and it worked just fine.

A friend of mine has just upgraded his k800i (generic uk) from r1gb001 to r1jc002 using the FOTA feature, worked fine.

I have upgraded to R1JC002 using FOTA only a few minutes ago. The upgrade did not solve the problem with some Java apps don't start, even though there was a new Java engine in this upgrade. For example, Opera Mini 3.0 does not start.

Bugs, crashes, etc, etc... Here's the story: I started transfering some games in my k800i (more than 100) from the internal memory to the M2. When I was almost done the phone did that, well known to our community, restart (white screen etc...
), and after that, when it started again, it immediately (without me doing anything) started applying a theme! A black theme with no pictures at all! I went to the themes folder to change it back, but there where no themes there! After restarting I finally applied my previous theme, but then discovered the worst of all: when I tried to open the games or the apps folder it said that the process failed! That was it! No access to their content! 
Don't hurry to suggest a F/W re-flash, cause after doing that the problem is still there!
So, are there still some people who insist that it's natural to have those little cute bugs in such a beautiful phone?
Can anyone suggest a solution for that problem?
I REALY love this phone, but it's starting to get on my nerves. If I wanted a phone just for making calls, I'd keep my first 10 years old one. I want a hi-tech device, but I expect from it to "tolerate" AT LEAST its natural and simple tasks (like moving files...!).
I just hope that updating to the JC (hopefuly within the following days) through SEUS will solve the problem...

I just updated my firmware on my K800i to R1GB001 and now my phone is giving me nothing but problems!!! The back light doesn't light up as bright as it did before, neither do the keys. I can go into the menu and manually change it back, but after a few seconds the stupid thing goes dark again. Furthermore, the screen is non responsive for a few seconds...it stays completely dark after pressing any key, for a few seconds, before lighting up at all!!!
Does anybody know what I can do about this???

I agree with you, the previous firmware gave a lot of problems. I hope the next one would make the phone more stable. We'll see when they release it on SEUS.
k800i is my first SE phone, switching from Nokia because of lesser hardrware quality and symbian instability. A really good phone, but if this firmware doesn't solve previous bug I have to consider another switch.

Never has a problem with R1GB apart from high quality video preview crash. Perhaps it is problem of unsuccessful flashing instead of bug in R1GB itself.
Anyway R1JC still not availbale in both FOTA and SEUS for APAC.

im thinking of switching to nokia, SE are realy getting on my nervs now! why cant they just TEST THE FIRMWARE! b4 releasing it! it sux getting all these bugs, my phone has been away for a month and 2 weeks for a busted stupid erom , (flashing lights) i dont know, hope they fix the fone soon or else they'll lose one more customer

SE Service Centre in Indonesia does the same. If you send the phone for a repair, it takes a week or two if you are in Jakarta, the capital city-- and a month or more--if you are 1000km away from the capital, just like me. Therefore, I try my best to not get in touch with SESC. Just wonder why couldn't SESC just do the EROM fix in a day? It was just pressing 2 and 5 in less than 30 seconds. Flashing a full f/w is at max just less than 30 mins if it is done offline. SESC may be too busy with beauracracy..at least in Indonesia. A friend with WSOD had to wait 10 days to get his phone fixed! A long queue of have-to-repaired phones, perhaps?

I've just upgraded from R1GB001 to R1JC002 and my phone is no longer working. It is a CID51 version as I updated using Wotan to R1GB001 a few months back with no problem.
This time on using Wotan I got a message that states:
CSLOADER: phone lock reset - pls wait
ACK GET FAILED!!!
This is after it has done all the flashing, what does this mean, have asked Wotan but so far no response from them.
I started up the phone and I am told there is in an error in configuration and to contact my mobile provider or service centre.
I see the flash files are now located on my PC, how do I go about using them to reflah as Why should I loss another credit on Wotan when the first flash didn't work. Here is extract from the last few entries, I can't make head nor tail of it:

Go to authorised service centre and let them fix it. SEUS is 'part' update and may not fixed your problem! You need full reflash of phone!

well that's great!!!
here in india the service centres are extremely crowded any time of the day and half of them are very angry customers on their 3rd or fourth visit to the service centre.
the phones never work so u have to personally go there even to ask whether your phone is ready or not.
and there's only one major service centre. there are are other smaller ones which forward the phones to the major center.
so all in all its a complete mess!!!
i myself have had some crazy experiences with my k700i and the k790i.

I called SE here in the United States and they gave me 2 options:
1.) Send them the phone and pay $135 for them to "fix" it, and by fixing it he said "doing the same thing you can do online, only in more detail"
2.) Try updating the software online again
I opted for the 2nd choice and when I did it the 2nd time around I updated it in German, and not in English (like I had done the 1st time)...I don't know why, but now everything works fine!!!
ONE HUNDRED THIRTY FIVE DOLLARS to "fix" my phone??? SE is crazy!!!

The only explanation would be it connect to different server (mirror) that is closest to German speaking language and download from there. The older server must have corrupt firmware for your CDA-string firmware.

Anyway I believe the culprit is that it need internet connection for service center to update firmware (even in Jakarta) because I guess they still need to connect to EMMA for customization(finalization). With the popularity of broadband faster flashing can be achieved. I believe now you can wait for 2-3 hrs for firmware update (provided the internet connection is not down).
For repair, well, maybe lots of paperwork must be done as the service center has to wait for approval from SE Indonesia (for warranty claim). Most of the time it only take 3-5 days depending on the spare part availability.

So that should conclude that the language you choose for SEUS dialog is not tied to the CDA/language of firmware. So I SPECULATE SE may deploys several servers around the world so that for example choosing German/English UK language will download firmware from Europe's server while American English will download firmware from US's server.

This may prove difficult since Spanish and Portuguese languange exist in both Europe and South America which is further apart. Also SE need to sync a lot of firmware for all its mirror server around the world. Again this is just my speculation.

IMHO, mirror servers do exist. Once I got my SEUS kept on looping until I changed Indonesian to USA, which was a success.

The fact about SE as I got it from the local SE SVC CTR is that the SEUS does look at the region where the phone is localized for, i.e. Germany or Kuwait, or China and offers a language pack for that particular region. Mirrors do exist but only facilitates a faster download of the local language pack to an area closer to where you are. If you care to test this, buy a phone outside of your region and see what language pack is chose. I have a phone from Kuwait, and when I tried to upgrade it, I got a language pack for the region where it was purchased: ASIA.
My Finnish phone is localized for European languages. This is also true of the repair options. Buy a phone in the US and try to get it repaired in Europe and they won't do it. The same applies to the application of language packs and phone upgrades.
