Hey Daniel,

Thanks for the info. Please check back everyday to see what your innocent post will have created in this very thread.

lol - just thought I would share what I found out. Being using R1G for about 8 hours and so far nothing different. IMO the menu's seem a little slower.

Hmm, a new firmware.... perhaps this might fix my alarm clock bug which is really a nuisance.

Edit: Oh and nope, a master reset does not work. Bug is still apparent.

let wait for its official release for us to see what it fixes and what it brings new

Posted by aremaboy
My friend who works at a phone service centre told me that K800i R1EJ001 and R1EF001--don't know what's it before-- are available via SE-tool. I just need to pay USD 3.5 to update mine. I said No. I'm afraid it's a cracked version that will block FOTA and SEUS. He told me, R1EJ001 is also official in SESC. But, when I called them, they said 'unable' to do any flash. Hm..

Posted by baste07
if its R1EJ then its the same that was release from Wotan for some time now. is it confirmed? that those are the new FWs?

hello freinds,

i have K800i, 2days before i serch for software update and i got new software version of CXC1250210 R1ED001 060831. and after downloading my money deduct and balance become very low, but i really dont understand what is new software i m not able to see anything extra or new in my cell its same like earlier...so why new software of hight cost???

can some body will explain me why this is like??????

Posted by aremaboy
@basteo7:
I don't know. My friend just offered me the new f/w. I said NO. My R1ED001 is just great. I only rely on the official SEUS. When a new f/w is out, it's the time to run the update service. No need to hurry. Mine is just OK.

Posted by Red_Rach
The latest firmware as far as I am aware is R1EG001. R1ED001 is the one before it.

Why not look at the first post ion this thread? It will give you all the information you need.
Additionally, why did it cost you money? You can download it free of charge via SEUS.

He/She probably used the update feature in the phone to download it via GPRS. The file is quite big which is why it cost them so much.

Posted by baste07
i think its 3 MB right? how does your telco charge you? by the minute or by the filesize?

Posted by feelisme
I am using firmware R1ED001 that upgraded from SEUS. Now, I discovered some problems which don't happen previously as follows,

1) Unable to delete "Multiple" records from phonebook. After marked several, the "C" key not functioning. However, I can delete several from messages.
2) After plugged handfree HPM-70, sometimes it prompts "Continue playback through speaker" when turn on music using the playback on top right button. However, the earpies sign still show on phone. Everytime I need to re-plug the earpies and it go back to normal. (Is this a firmware bug? or my earpies problem? )

I don't know whether anyone highlighted the above problems with K800i. I just post it since I don't see this on first post.

Thanks.

Unless I am mistaken, being charged by the minute relates to "dial-up", and this is not a function of GPRS. Second, there are no operators that I know of that charge by the "file size" but rather by the packet, i.e, kilobyte per usage. Please correct me if I am incorrect.

no provider would charge by the packet. they would charge by how many bytes are transferred. packets can vary in sizes (bytes) depending on the protocol used.

can I assume this function is only available where the service provider enables it? where would i find such an option?

Posted by sapporobaby
@sPank,

I see your point, but kilobytes/kilobits/packets, etc... are all data, with my point being that this is part of the operator charging scheme. Common sense would in most cases prevail with most people understanding this. However, thanks for breaking it down further.

After updating my K800i to the R1ED001 with EROM R3A011 from june 30th 2006, with update service software version CRH1069179 R3B019 I noticed 3 strange changes:

- The phone goes into sleep/standby mode much faster than before (too fast!)

- I cannot bring the phone out of standby moving the joystick like before. It can only be done by pushing any button. Annoying because if I push the 5 to bring it out of standby, it will write the 5 which I therefore have to erase with C.

- I don't see the menu to upgrade the phone firmware thru GPRS anymore (not using a computer).

And lastly but not related to the update, the infrared from the K800i is not recognized by my laptop although all the K800i drivers have been installed correctly. It still works great with my old T630...

Anyone with those problems ?

ahh i guess its different from your part of the world.. coz we are charged by minutes usage.. and yes.. its GPRS

ahh.. sorry i am being just a normal / ordinary man when i say "file size" instead of per kilobyte usage. although if you download a file and the download is measured by the files size which translates to your kilobyte per usage..

although i must be wrong if you think otherwise.. please correct us if we are wrong

LOL! Just found the part about the joystick and the standby mode. I must be blind as I went thru it before without seing it.

Last problems unsolved are the infrared not working and the GPRS firmware update menu disappearance from the phone. Thanks anyway!

Forgive my ignorance - it's been years since I've done a firmware upgrade. I read that T-Mobile have approved the latest firmware. Does this mean I can just download the update from SEUS - or is this one a generic update? If not where do I get the T-Mobile version from?

Posted by fiish
If the update is available to your T-Mobile customised phone, SEUS will perform the update. It will not debrand the phone.

Posted by presto
Firmware update for T-Mobile is not out yet ... btw

Posted by mrwoll
Just found that for some reason if you do a reset settings on the K800i you loose some of the functionality of the R1DE Firmware. For instance when I first update the internet shortcut key had to be held down for a couple of seconds to open the browser, this has now become instananeous.

I tried to re-update this morning, SEUS told me I had the new firmware but could continue to reupload it (Iguess). This has made no difference, the internet key still directly accesses the browser.

Anyone else experienced something similar?

Edited: for (2) when the problem prompts "Continue playback through speaker" with earpies, but I still can listen song if I use menu to play music. So I beleive it is firmware problem casued the playback button not functioning.

Additional problem I found. The phonebook search is inaccurate for 2nd character. For example FE -> it prompt to FOxxxxx, then only it found follow by 3rd character.

What a bizarre finding! Unfortunately, I won't try reset setting as I'll lose all email, internet, and other things--and that'll troublesome--just to confirm it. If that's true, I don't know what's going on. It's never been found before. Other users, maybe? Anyway, what F/W is installed after re-update? Branded or unbranded?

Hi

I have a phonebook problem.
One of my contacts is not recognised by the phone
If I go to my phonebook and call her I se her picture in the display,
But next time I call I go to the call log and her number shows up instead of
Her name, and when I press the number no picture comes up.
Only one number in my phonebook has this problem. I was hoping updating my firmware
would do the trick but it didn’t

Hi all,

I was today at Sony Ericsson Service point at Sony Ericsson headquarter in Lund in Sweden ..

I was asking about the problem with the joystic and slow menus in K800i .. first they removed/formated the whole excisting firmware from it (which already was the latest one but downloaded and installed from SEUS) .. then installed again the latest firmware which they provied .. it took about 15 minutes while i was drinking cofe the phone was ready to be used ..

I noticed different as the service point man told me about before the update, the different is faster menus and better joystic reaction .. and they told me the phones get abit slower when we use SEUS ..

I am telling that, just for information for some people who complain on slower menus and bad joystic reaction ..

Thanks

Hilariously enough, some Japanese operators *do* charge by packet (such as KDDI/au), without taking into consideration the packet size. Truly retarded and anti-consumer.

Operators that charge GPRS by the minute also exist, and are just as retarded, as an idle GPRS connection uses nearly no operator resources at all.

I can reproduce it, but a much quicker way to reset it is to press stop in the media player, hold down the back button so you get to the standby screen. You'll hear a very faint click in the earbuds as the phone disconnects the music session. Now if you go back into the media player and press play it'll continue and play just fine.

I think they call it for "Experience Center" store .. located at the karavans which belongs to SE about 1 minute by car from the main SE Research building ..
