Its potluck with O2's help desk. Most of the time when you ring upyou get some complete spanner who just has no idea what they are doing so best thing to do is just berate them, hang up and try again.

Very rarely you actually get someone who is clued up on the matter and they can help you quite well and sort things out.

LMAO at you for not knowing that you can use Applications as wall papers. If you had read in the thread you would have seen that this is possible.

well..we all make mistakes don't we ? don't we? lol

What network are you on? I just tried mine (O2) and it's still not going. Tho i'm assuming that there isn't going to be anyone at O2/SE sorting out the updates over the weekend anyways.

@Psycho Dave

Don't you think it would have been a bit more informative to say what your "problem" is other than not saying what you problem is?

Does your phone answer calls, sends and receives SMS, MMS, receives calls? If so then it would appear that it is working quite fine.

I have updated my firmware to R1ED001, but when synchronizing with MS Outlook contacts, the following happens:

1. Phone freezes at "Sending 277"
2. Sync Summary shows:
Items synchronised: 0
Errors: 1 General
Error due to: No connection - OR_MPM_OBEX_OP_TIMEOUT
3. Phone restarts to USB connection screen for selecting File Transfer, Phone Mode or Print Pic

Anyone knows how to overcome this problem?

Is that happening on the computer or the phone? The OBEX time seems to be related to the computer.

Posted by patrick_teo
The Sync summary does not indicate whether it is due to the phone or computer. Where can I set the OBEX timing on my computer? I am using Win XP2.

Are you blind?
It says "When I try to use a Application as a wallpaper it says "Empty folder". Any ideas?"

To explain it more when you select Application under Wallpaper you get a window saying "Empty folder", thats it. You cant select any application to use.

You might not se this as a problem but I have bigger demands on my phone then you. By the way, I can recommend this phone for you and yes you can only call with it...

if you had read the SE developer page i pposted at the bottom of the previous page just 10 posts previously then about a third down that page it says:

Creating a standby MIDlet: the basics

First, to enable the MIDlet to run as a standby application we need to
include and set a jad file property:
- SEMC-StandbyApplication:

which means that currently none of your applications have this property set.

at the bottom of the developer page there is a link to an example standby midlet application. install that on your phone and give that a go, i imagine it will now appear in the list.

but none of this is firmware related so can we please keep it back to the topic in hand.

Hello

Does anyone with the CDA 102568/4 could do the update of the firmware via FOTA? I have a generic firmware and usually when searching for a firmware update the phone said that I had the latest firmware, but now from the date that the new firmware has been launched the phone searches for more than 5 minutes and then a message appears saying that Device Management has interrupted the communication. What sould I do?

Thanks

Hi All,
I cannot hear the ringing tone or caller when making or receiving a call after upgrading the firmware using Wotanserver.
I had the 'Operation Failed' message when I tried to open Application or Games so decided to flash the phone with Wotanserver as I didn't want to send of for repair.
If I turn on the speaker during a call or attach a headset I can hear the call.
Has anyone else experienced this problem. Could it have been caused by Wotanserver, so a firmware issue, or do you think this is a hardware problem.
Any suggestions? Should I ask Wotanserver for another credit to try reflashing my phone again?
Many Thanks,
Jon

Does anyone knows if in R1ED001 the following bugs are fixed?

1) When emptying pictures from camera folder (Memory phone) photo counter is reset

2) SMS are stored in the SIM instead of phone's memory

Chill the hell out, no need to be so rude to someone. All he said is if your phone makes calls, receives calls and receives and sends sms/mms then the phone is fine.
Geez some of you people in here need lessons on being polite, i find this more pretaining to the foreign people we have here ie their first language isnt english. I suggest you sell the phone and dont ever buy another cell phone...you seem incapable of using one....people like you are dangerous, moreso when you have a cellphone in your hand.

Just for the record i have the same problem as well, cannot use an application as a wallpaper but im kinda wondering why would you want to use an app as a wallpaper or screensaver??. As it is i dont really care about using an app as a wallpaper or screensaver, i have a nice animated matrix one that does the job superbly.

I do not agree with that 100%...

I agree that it is useless to use an app as a wallpaper, but the phone which has mp3 player, camera and so on it is for music listening, taking pictures and so on.

You pay for that for SE, and also pay for that to update the phone and to be relatively bug free. It is true that no written words that SE MUST release a firmware, but if there is a function in the phone to update over the air people want to use it.
If it is not possible do not put in the phone you sell and do not advertise with that...

If you buy an expensive car with a very fine music system and it sounds like a mono radio, you would be very angry I think...

If you buy an relatively expensive phone you expect something for your money...

I don't think you can set the OBEX timing. It is probably a communications error as the timing is usually set by the software. Have you done the customary, turn off and on the phone, un-install and re-install the software? I am not a Windows person, Mac and Linux so I can not be much help there.
Sorry.

Psyho is the right word for you, as well as a few more superlatives however, your post said nothing about using an application as a wallpaper. You posted your entire phone configuration data and then asked the question: does anyone else have this problem. How stupid is that? You failed to mention your problem. I guess you were too busy being Psycho. If you are that bad off, get some help. Mental that is.

You made an excellent point. Excellent.

The k800i is designed primarliy around telephony, i.e. make and receive calls. Then they throw in the SMS, and MMS features, then the web surfing features, etc..... In all of these "bugs" not one of you has complained that you can not make or receive calls. Nor has anyone complained that they can not send and receive SMS, or MMS. Most of the complaints (lack of a better word) revolve around cosmetic issues, small functionality issues that are not core functionality related. The k800i is the largest cellular compromise on the market right now and that is the way it is supposed to be. Sure you can have a 10 megapixel camera, or HD Vid cam built in but who wants to pay $2000 for a phone. Sure there are bugs and issues but for the most part SE fixes these in due time, and not particularly in a time many deem not soon enough. Which leaves us with the option: to pay for an upgrade or not. Quite simple. I had the money, credit card and opportunity so I paid, flashed my phone and moved on. I even gave a credit away to someone that did not have the same opportunity that I had, simply because they were in a less fortunate situation. There are MANY here that do nothing but hunt for bugs so that they can complain about them and increase their post count. Anytime you buy a multifunction phone you are going to have problems. BOTTOM LINE. If you can not live with this, then it is best for your sake and that of others that you do not buy the phone, and be happy with a lessor model that does not offer too many features that can be overwhelming.

Exactly.

I was trying to find out his problem because it seems that he was talking about the EROM issue be WE ALL know that this is really no issue even with or without the upgrade and I was going to tell him that he did not need to worry about it as my phone is still on the old EROM and working without incident.

Psycho Dave:

how did you install the application? by using the .jar file or the .jad file?

you do need to use the jad file as this sets the installation to enable it to be used as a standby app.

Gavin

edit:
i just tried installing it on my phone (firmware: R1CB001, not latest) and it will install fine using the .jar file but if i try to use the .jad to install it, it says "operation failed" i suspect that the line in the .jad file that makes it fail is the "SEMC-StandbyApplication: Y" at the end and this feature is added in the new firmware.

Is the update released for the UK networks yet? Especially T-Mobile...

Not yet. Generic Firmwares will be most likely released first then the branded versions for various operators, probably best asking t-mobile if they're planning a revised firmwares.

No, not as yet. I'll update the first post as soon as I notice updates coming in for UK phones.

If anyone manages to update their UK K800 then a PM would be much appreciated.

"Does anybody know , why there is an option "Continue anyway" in SEUS , as i have the latest firmware installed ?"

This is probably if you for some reason got a previous update that went bad (the phone doesn´t start etc). With this option you may try again.

I wouldn't say useless, just think about all the possibilities: a wallpaper that shows your appointments for the day, calendar, an analog clock, headlines for your favourite news site etc etc. We could see a similar "homescreen" or "today screen" featured in other phones.

I updated my k800 to R1ED001 using the online service today on thebus on the way home from my job. It worked fine without any problems. The update is free of charge from but I will probably charged a bit for the 3MB+ download by my operator, so I don't know which is cheapest, this update or Wotan's. The update is also available on SEUS for free, though, at least that's what I have heard.
Apart from the fixes listed in the first message in this topic, I have found the following improvements/changes:

  1. The notes app can now handle more than 5 notes without problems. Before, the 6:th note somehow was miced up with the 5:th, at lest in my phone.
  2. The internet button now have a short delay so that it is not activated directly, probably to prevent starting the internet connection by mistake when you press the left softkey.

Why did it seem like that? I had no problems understanding what he was asking (hence the quote), posting the firmware data might have been unnecessary, but you never know.

I really hope we can keep this thread atleast somewhat civilized. There's no need for ANYONE to attack someone, just because that something has been answered before, there's some misspelled words, the answer is "common knowledge" for others or the poster seems to have an unpleasant personality.

@altemyr:
Thanks for also confirming that there's a second or two delay when accessing the internet button. I have posted this phenomenon few days ago but nobody could verify that. I used to think something wrong with my unit. mwarner should add this improvement in the 1st post. Thanks.

Other finding:
During USB file transfer, and you activate charging, NOW you can see the green battery icon at top right with lightning as a symbol of recharging. As I remembered, it didn't appear in the R1BC, so now you can be sure that your phone is doing the process.

Hi all are flash drivers needed for my K800i? Or do i only need SEUS to update my phone? As i needed flash drivers on my K750i? My K800i SW is currently R1CB001 Orange Uk. Can anyone help? Cheers

Posted by aremaboy
Yes, you need the flash drivers. They are already embedded with the SEUS itself. Just hold the C button of the phone (in off condition) and Windows will prompt a dialog, just click Next and done. As the flash drivers are installed, SEUS is ready to update yours. Good luck. Anyway, are you fasting too? Just looking from your name..sorry if not..didn't mean anything offensive.
