@es95pl

i think you are experiencing a hardware malfunction, the lens cover works as a switch once you open it it will switch on the camera and once you close it it terminates the camera application, try sending it back to the store where you bought it. maybe its still under warranty.

We don't know when new firmware will be out, but this will be the first place you hear about it when it is released

I had a strange issue with my K800i last night. I was in a bar and I'd just taken some pictures and sent one to my blog. I locked the phone and put it in my pocket.

A few minutes later I received a text. I felt the vibration go (didn't hear any sound, but it was loud in the bar) and took the phone out and I couldn't 'wake' it up. No matter what button I pressed the screen stayed dark. Only by opening and closing the camera shutter did it respond again!

Anyone else had this?

@ ~DC:UK~

Nope not had that happen, good blog?

am i the only one who is experiencing a very tiny display of the clock when the clock is on its big clock mode?

Posted by gseth
I have two k790i

One of them freezes either during clock mode (standby - mostly) or when normal usage (sometimes only).

The phone does not respond and i have to remove battery and put it back.

Anyone exprienced something similar.

Posted by aremaboy
Instabile f/w is everywhere with K790/K800.

Posted by gseth
The problem i was having seems to make the phone unusable. As it was happening eveyr 2 - 30 minutes.

Anyways i got another one. Lets see if its there in this too.

no your not the only one. Masseur and my self are also having that problem. Seems to be happening with phones that have chinese firmware, the eu firmware works fine in that setting.

@ads1107

thanks ads1107 for the verification that im not the only one that has this problem. well thats the only one and the text input delay that im having problems the rest of the features are working well...

i hope that the new firmware will fix this annoying problems.

i've had this, you mean the screen dont turn on or respond when you bash the keys... i've had this quite a few times in bars and stuff... the way to get past it is to press the key unlock code, it will seem like it aint doing anything but it will work and should unlock the keypad and the phone will come back to life..

Annoying at times but meh

Added the large clock size bug to the first post. b3rx - sorry I didn't add this before, but I was waiting for confirmation of the bug from other users.

Posted by b3rx
@mwarner
i was in the impression that this thread is for EU FW only thats why i didnt bother to suggest to put it in the first post. but since it is now proven that it is a bug, then i want to thank you for including it in the first post.

cheers!

Wow, I'm surprised at all the bugs related to the K790/K800 firmware... now I'm going to have to think twice about buying this phone.

most are fairly minor bugs. Mine doesnt have any. Buy the phone, you wont be dissapointed. Any bugs will be fixed via firmware updates....

Posted by b3rx
i agree. its all a minor bug that FW update can fix.

btw, in a one month time and already 12 pages of posts? w00t!!! this thread is getting more popular than i thought!

I have a k790i.

Firmware version is different. Its R1CC003. Rest of everything is same like update service software version, camera version, etc.

The bugs are also the same as k800i.

However i noptice some new thing. My shortcuts (joystick) switches back to default locations after restart (sometimes). This only happens with the last shortcut i have assigned.

Eg if i assign right joystick press to games, after restarting or after some time, it switches back to its default location.

Ah I see. Well, it's just those little things that are important to me... but I guess hopefully in future updates these problems will be fixed. So current owners of the K800/790 series, is the phone well worth its money? Hope it is, because I'm really interested in this nice phone. (the display!)

And BTW, take a look at the review at http://www.mobique.com/. Is it true that the build quality of the K800/K790 is like that? ie. the earphone grill and screen display are unaligned.

hope this link might help.

Oh man it does. Great, thanks a lot.

>> Another Q. Any of you try to open up your K800i yet to clean out the dust?

Posted by senninha
@obentou

build quality is first rate. mobique must have gotten a pre-production unit or something...

there are a few bugs which will surely be sorted out very soon. overall, i think it's very much worth the money.

mister masseur just got some news updates for the big clock bug thing. it came to his attention that when using 24hrs Time format and set the display to Large, there you can see the bug. but it fixes the problem when you set the time format to 12hrs, can anyone using EU firmware test if it also happens to your phone? or your phones can still have 24hrs Time format and big clock mode?

Posted by gseth
The built quality is definately good.

Hi all
Just found another possible bug, maybe someone else can test this for me.
If I transfer a Midi tune from the phone to the PC either with USB cable or Bluetooth the end of the file is always chopped, it also does this if you play the Midi directly over BT.
I haven't got my M2 card yet to try a transfer that way so can't comment if that way works.

Was going to convert them to MP3 but will have to wait.

I have EU firmware and use 24hrs time format. No problems using large clock view.

That happened on mine when I got it. I set the right shortcut to go to the file manager then I turned it off and back on again and it was back to the default.

Hasn't happened since though, and I've switched it off and on a few times now.

I don't have any of those issues, even my lens cover is tight (after taking 300 pictures already...). I must say my k800 feels much more like "quality" than my k750 did.

Posted by jasond
kalleboo, this certainly give me hope.

I'll be getting my K800 in the coming week and have been scared to death by all these build complaints.

Maybe we should start a thread somewhere where people sign on and state their satisfaction with the K800 build quality! It would put a lot of minds to rest, I'm sure! Happy K800 users: Let's hear it!

Hey, i'm was on O2 and have now switched to orange to get this phone cheap, (K800)
I've had it since sunday 30th July, and its had a few fits but i'm not too worried about that cos i guess it ran out of virtual memory or sumit.
happened to my W800 anyway only like once a month,

so any way to the other 2 orange people in this thread I'm asking, do you have the "identify music" option in the radio player, as i found out today I don't.... do other people?
and how do i get this back cos it seems like an awesome "free" feature to have,...

everything else is fine, no complaints,..

cheers
Al Bo

anyone know what the difference between europe 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5 filesystem firmwares?

Posted by Lleoman
How long does it usually take for the second firmware revision for new SE phones to show up? It's been more than a month now with K800i, would be nice to get rid of that cam focusing - phone rebooting bug now. And maybe a little better image quality for the cam?

Posted by Vercetti
damn i want a new firmware now i love to see no bugs anymore, some new features would be nice too.

no bug anymore, you mean something like K750's latest firmware?

Posted by >500
new firmwares are usually every 3 months or so. Though they may bring one out sooner for k800i as its fairly new. Though with w810, k750 etc its usually bout 3 months, though it can be sooner.

i remember the first firmware for the K750 after R1A044 came out like a month later... and it fixed most of the first bugs.
hopefully the new firmware for the K800 will come out soon too, to fix some of the bugs i'm reading about. oh well. i get mine in about six hours.
and i'm very excited.

Mine has the R1CB firmware, the battery goes empty I'm not able to recharge it... appears a white screen and it doesn't get back... I have taked the battery and tied again to recharge, but no success, anyone has this bug or probem also?

Posted by b3rx
@Phantom
so how is your K800? having fun?

Posted by happykhan
Is it true that K800 doesn't have "Mega Bass"?

Posted by boman1882
yes its true, i personally don't think the speakers on the K800 could cope with a mega bass function. even tho the head phones from the W800 clearly could,.

Yep had the same bug in mine, However i took the phone of charge and left the battery out for a min, Placed the battery back in and put it back on to charge, The red led in the infrared bit came on and the phone started to boot about 5 mins after that.

Hope this helps

Posted by Fernandinho
Thank you darrengf for you help.

I have tried that, it doesn't work like so simple like that, but finally, after many trying i could charge the phone... I hope SE solve this bug soon... I never saw a SE phone with so many bugs like this one... I want my K750i back

Posted by Vercetti
It s*cks that so many people have so many problems with the K800i.
I hope that there will be a new firmware soon. I'm getting tired of seeing al those bugs on my phone.
