Yep I know! I haved hoped they fixed it too...but no!

I don't want to complaine, but all should know what the get in the release of the new firmware.

Some of the bug I have found (that still exist in the new FW), but are listed as fixed (on the first page)
Bookmarks are still listed under bokkmark submenu.
Shortcuts you make for the joystick disapear...very often...just today 3-4 times and its very annoying. I had this problem before...maybe its only my phone...

Thats all for now!

So is the new firmware actually out on SEUS, or are they still working on it?

It seems SE doesn't even intend to release this R1ED001..a 'simple' EROM update is SE hard task to complete. A thumb up to Wotan..no, two thumbs up! LOL.

Where do you get this crap from. R1ED001 is an SE software. Do you understand that? Wotan did no invent it or create it or modify it. They paid for it and sold you and others the right to update your phones through the Wotan service. Is that clear finally? If you do not know what you are talking about then do not make up stuff. Post your proof that SE did not intend to release this.

I still dont understand why these people insist going on about a fw delay.

Because for the most part they need to hunt the next batch of bugs to give their life meaning. Without spending their waking days looking for bugs on their phone, their lives have no meaning.

Posted by obentou
It's not about having no life. People who have paid for such an expensive phone would like it to run its functions without flaw.

The discovery of bugs comes naturally with everyday use. I doubt anyone here spends 2 hours straight looking for quirks in the phone.

Surely you have to be kidding. I use my phone every day, as well as my M600i and do not come across the amount of bugs that you and others seem to manifest almost daily. Second, yes the devices are expensive and no they will never be perfect. Many of us realize this and accept this as being part of the purchasing experience. However, there are a select group here that make it their life's goal to complain without ceasing about their software not being perfect. The more complex a phone becomes, the more things can go wrong. The options are very simple: 1. Buy it. 2. Don't buy it.

I dont mean to join the list of moaners here, but isn't it worth someone trimming this thread its nearly 80 pages of moaning and waffle, and very little about the actual firmware.

Perhaps there should be a seperate whingers thread.

Posted by aremaboy
Or may be we should lock this thread?
Just kidding..:-*

They should lock this thread as it has gotten beyond control.

Sony K800 phone contacts multi characters search is not working well.

Eg. type St and the 2nd character "t" did not bring the phone contact names to starting at St... but stays at the Sa... contacts names

Hope Sony can solve this minor issue in the next firmware..

Posted by sapporobaby
A good thing would be an ESATO premium and ESATO Lite. The premium would be a paid version of ESATO where the more knowledgable and serious phone users could hang out while the lite version would be more of a public forum.

Hey Laffen, how does this sound.

Negative. You are incorrect. I have tested this in R1ED001 and it works.

This issue used to be region-dependent on the K750, as I recall. Western firmwares had multi-character search, but some eastern firmwares did not.

I have decided to buy an antique car klaxon, and to make it go "parp" every time sapporobaby goes off on one about firmware complaints or bad use of language, and then misspells non-sequitur.

hey, I doubt this is actually a bug in the phone but:

I'm trying to use my k800 as a dial up modem. It's connected via USB and using the SE Suite's Networking Wizard I enter in the usual details. When I try to connect the screen says connecting to (net number here) for a second then quickly dissapears. Then the computer comes back with an error message, something about dialing. It doenst reference hardware or anything like that....sorry i cant remeber of the top of my head. I am able to call the number successfully, just not using SE's software or windows.

anyways, have others been successful in dialing up? anyone know of a guide for this?

Can't wait. Send pictures. <---------------------- Did I spell that correctly? Hopefully if Laffen likes the idea of a paid site for the more advanced and less complaining users this will be a moot point as well.

I am not sure that such an idea would take off. Of course you would get fewer pointless posts, but the reason I create and maintain these firmware overview threads is to give high quality information to the public. When someone types "K800 firmware" into google I want them to see the first post of this page - and that has been the case for all the firmware overviews I have created since the K700.

It does get frustrating when people keep on asking questions that are answered in the first post or complain about the lack of firmware updates, but that is the price you pay to be a public service.

Posted by sapporobaby
Hey Mike,

You summed it up perfectly. It is not that everyone is posting useless and pointless posts. It is the same group of individuals over and over and over. In my opinon, your thread is one of the best and started out that way, but it descened into a moan, whine and gripe thread dominated by the same group asking pointless questions, about things only the upper management at SE can answer. I tend to voice my opinions publically while others tend to PM me and agree. I hope you get your thread back and those posting will really consider if their post will contribute to the thread.

or may be the best thing to do is to ban people who go off topic, not just ban them for about an hour but to ban them for like for ever. us are so right its a pain reading about sumit importent then getting interuped by some winy ass asking te sam question over again.

Look @ mine.

The Erom is not updated as stated but the update service is... Hmmm

Posted by baste07
yeah, kinda wierd that they didn't update the EROM. they're saying that it;s taking a while before they put the update because they're having issues udpating the EROM using SEUS?

Posted by jamessss
I'm not so sure about that information but i suppose S.E in singapore is having quite a headache because customer have been going to the service center to update their firmware so i suppose that made them to release it early for us? Hmmm not very sure about the details.

Posted by siriosechi1
Seus II updated ;version 2.6.10.5 or it was earlier online?

no new firmware europe3

Posted by baste07
has anyone tried the OTA upgrade?

siriosechi1 : Ya, it's 2.6.10.5

I choose English (United States) , not sure about that making a difference or not.

Posted by aremaboy
Oh,dear. My K800i is also of Singapore CDA..If it's true that the R1ED001 is out, then my phone is updated too. Unluckily, I will only reach my PC at least tomorrow..hm, let me check tomorrow, guys, whether it's true or not. Can't wait..

@baste07,

You wrote: they're saying that it;s taking a while before they put the update because they're having issues udpating the EROM using SEUS?

Which "they"are you talking about and how about posting your source? Did you get this from SE, and if so where?

Your statement regarding this is the first one that has been posted here as coming from "they" so naturally everyone would be interested to know where you got your info.

Thanks in advance.

Dude,

This is not new information. It was reported by me and a few others a few pages back. It is quite obvious that you and others do not bother to go back and read the pages already posted. With that you post old and sometimes out of date info simply because you do not take the time to re-read what was already written. If this is the case why bother to contribute?

Posted by sielski666
u do this all the time m8. i know but i was confurming it!

Sapporo: In response to this statement,

"Surely you have to be kidding. I use my phone every day, as well as my M600i and do not come across the amount of bugs that you and others seem to manifest almost daily. Second, yes the devices are expensive and no they will never be perfect. Many of us realize this and accept this as being part of the purchasing experience. The more complex a phone becomes, the more things can go wrong. The options are very simple: 1. Buy it. 2. Don't buy it."

People have different views and uses for their phone. Many play games on their phone, text, call, whatever. This amount of daily usage amounts to a lot of time. If you haven't encountered any bugs, or little to none, you may just be luckyl. The majority here on Esato has encountered many of the bugs pointed out here by other users of the K790/K800 series of phones.

As for your M600i, surely it is a much more complex device than the K series from its Symbian OS 9.1, if I am correct. The fact that you have not run into any problems either suggests the phone is quite stable, and should be, moreso than the K79/8 series. I assume you also use your phone heavily so this may be a fact.

My K790i here I leave on my desk for half the day and use just lightly on a daily basis. Yet I have encountered most of the bugs pointed out here. It is quite irritating as well.

Surely there are a ton of users who bitch around here 24/7. But see here, there are people new to the line of Sony Ericsson phones, especially their top of the line. If you've just changed from your monochrome screen Nokia to a Sony K790i, surely it's a huge jump. And those users who run into quirks WILL DEFINITELY come here to post and seek help. They probably won't bother to read the past pages as they are looking for a quick fix.

That's why us here, who have been on the firmware thread for quite a while, should help out users instead of half-flaming them with comments that they should look in the past pages. If you can already say that to them, why not just tell them the answer in short? Doesn't take much effort to. We also have been accustomed to SE's phones more than others, so we DO expect many bugs to come with their products (well, maybe) every time. So I understand why your tolerance for people who complain here is very low.

Edit: I don't know if this is a useless post, but I hope I've considered the views of both new users here and the regulars of this thread in regard to complaining about firmware.
