Thanks for the links @Ja99iE.

I can see more of those chromatic aberrations on those shots as well. I'm beginning to suspect they're using cheap plastic lenses.

All the Ney-sayers should put down and step away from the crack pipe and go have their eyes examined. TO say that one does not see much differnce b/n these pics and pics from the K750 is to live in denial.

Great pics everyone! I really enjoyed some of the details shown on the fruit/vegitables as well as the ship photos.

Well judging from that video so what laffen said before the phone being released about it having improved video is rubbish then.

Or the phone just have rubbish video capture in general.

Which it does. Im completely unimpressed by the phone, and its static pictures.

@davidsic
Nice shot of the Alfa Brera. I saw one the other day, but they are few and far between in the UK (well at least I haven't seen many in London)

when you take a picture... why do i always get a red light coming out of the back of the phone... and how do i get flash to work... i can't get nothing out of the back of the phone other than a red/orangey light .. so i can't take pics in the dark.

Posted by Phantom
i'm pretty sure that red light is to help the phone focus.
all real digital cameras have it... i know my Sony DSC-M2 has it.
it comes on in low light for me, and helps with the focus and maybe to meter the light.. i'm not sure though.

Posted by Arne Anka
Yes, the read ligt helps the AF to focus correctly. The xenon flash only kicks in if the camera considers the light too poor (there is no manual setting for it, which is a bit of a disadvantage).

The quality in k800i pictures is better in some way, but k750i has better pictures and focus. All pictures ive seen so far from k800 is just more pixels in the image, not really better at depth and so on in the images.

this image from k750i is far better in quality in what ive seen so far from k800i.
http://libben.fnutt.org/old/images/k750i/marianne.jpg

But yeah, k800i does better pictures, but they just seems not shine as much as good quality pictures from k750 does, i hope they will manage to correct that in next fw.

There are thre comparison pictures between W900 (similar camera module as K750), K800 and Minolta Dimage in the link below (look for davidsic). Since the motive in all three pictures is the same, its much easier to compare than using different motives.

http://forum2.mobile-review.c[....]thread.php?p=438558#post438558

Its clear the K800 produce sharper and more detaild pictures than W900 (K750). However, the auto settings in K800 tends to produce a bluish tone (white balance needs some adjustment) and the pictures are abit to bright (exposure needs some adjustment).

Using manual setting for exposure and white balance could probably produce much better pictures.

@davidsic - Nice Alfa Romeo dude (Breva) Was that taken under 'normal' shot -settings?

Thanks for the Brera, it's a nice and beautiful car. Yes normal settings for this picture.

Arne Anka, it's not a compaison with the K750i but with the W900i...who produce warmer colour than the K750i

Pics comparison in 2 mégapixels (no settings)

W900i

K800i (also 2mp)

Minolta Dimage 3.2 mp (this picture in 2mp)

Other pics by K800i...

Posted by Arne Anka
My bad davidsic. Never the less, the 2 MPX camera modules SE use is pretty much the same (or similar) all over the line covering W900, K750 etc, so the difference should not be that much.

By the way, your pictures above comparing K800, W900 and Minolta can not be enlarged (they stay small).

Works.

looks like the w900i produces better color.

As you can see I’m not very good at panoramic but I only done it quick

I have just done a comparison of the W800i pics .vs. K800i pics and I cant see a whole lot of difference, concidering the K800i camera in mathematical terms is 1.5 times the quality of the 2MP W800i.

Judge for yourself....

W800i - yes this is the w800i pic:

K800i pic:

Your thoughts?

Posted by goldenface
@JiggyJaggy

Definately sharper on the last pic, look at the light reflecting on the shoulder of the bottle.

Did you need to adjust the brightness on the first pic?

Posted by JiggyJaggy
Nope, did nothing at all on either camera, both in fine mode. W800i=2mp; K800i=3mp setting. And K800i was on best pic.

both were on exact same time, angle, lighting and same object. I can see the difference on the sharpness, but no a mega amount like the difference between 0.6mp and 2mp which should be a similar difference from 2mp to 3.2 mp.

Im not knocking the quality, im so happy now that I can leave my digital camera at home!

Posted by goldenface
@jiggyjaggy

Was the AF switched on on both?

Posted by rockygali
i dont care about the sharpness coz it shows alright... im concern about the color realism... K800 has this blueish effect...

Posted by JiggyJaggy
yes by AF I take it you mean Auto Focus, then yes it was. Very good function btw

Posted by goldenface
Is just that the w800 seems to be focussing on the corners of the A4 paper in the background while the other seems to be focussing right on the bottle.

Posted by JiggyJaggy
I will have to check if I had Macro mode on with either of them.

Posted by datx
Just because W800 has warmer colors doesn't mean it is a better cam... on that pics k800 focused much better... the colors are just different not better/worse... and if u like warmer colors just adjust them on photoshop

And k800i is not 1.5 times the quality of w800, it is 1.5 times the size of w800

@ datx - I think the point people are making is, is that the K800i being the superior phone should automatically produce the superior pictures, without then having to resort to touching them up on a computer.

Personally, im still very unimpressed by the K800i's 3.2mp pictures. They do appear sharper, and i expect through firmware updates will have better colour reproduction than any previous SE phone, but they're nothing that make me go wow !

Im considering keeping my K750i, and buying a N93 or something to go with it.

Posted by pow1990
agreed, i want to see more comparisons with the n80 and k800i, i feel nokia may have have a better cam...
jus my 2 cents!
