PORTUGAL 2 - 1 MEXICO

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/[....]all/world_cup_2006/4853302.stm

"Portugal advance to the second round for the first time since 1966 in some style, having claimed maximum points. Mexico - with a win, a draw and a loss - will hope to find some consistency as they head into the knockout stage yet again."

==

IRAN 1 - 1 ANGOLA

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/[....]all/world_cup_2006/4853320.stm

"The odds were always stacked against Angola reaching the Round of 16 going into this match, but when they took the lead through Flavio their hopes were suddenly raised. However, Bakhtiarizadeh’s equaliser effectively ended their dreams. In a spirited display from both sides, a draw was probably the fair result, although Angola will be frustrated that they could not convert more of their opportunities."

All about Brazil people...

Posted by Residentevil
Even if they lose by one or two goals, they still win the group.

Posted by haynesycop
Well incase people did not already know Owen had his scan today and his has ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his knee, which is months sidelined doubt he will start the season for the premiership, poor bloke is plagued with injuries at the moment.

They really need to give Walcott a chance, poor lad must be itching for a chance, Sven is screwed bigtime that will teach him for taking 4 strikers instead of 5.

'Owen ruled out of World Cup'

"Michael Owen is out of the World Cup and back in England after rupturing his anterior cruciate knee ligament in the 2-2 draw with Sweden."

HOLLAND 0 - 0 ARGENTINA

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/[....]all/world_cup_2006/4853328.stm

"The Netherlands have not lost in normal time to Argentina in four meetings in the FIFA World Cup™, but it is the South Americans who finish the group stage marginally happier having secured first place. The unbeaten records of both should ensure they look ahead to the Round of 16 with confidence."

==

IVORY COAST 3 - 2 SERBIA & MONTEGRO

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/[....]all/world_cup_2006/4853346.stm

"With both teams already eliminated and little but pride at stake, they threw caution to the wind – and rain – to produce a fabulous contest. Côte d’Ivoire emerged victorious despite conceding two early goals for a well-deserved win. "

Can someone tell me if they have stopped showing the matches on the BBC website?

Posted by Xugaa
They shouldn't have, why... is it not showing anymore?

Posted by soulframe
Well I can't find any links to any of the matches that are currently on today.

CZECH REPUBLIC 0 - 2 ITALY

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/[....]all/world_cup_2006/4853358.stm

"The Czech Republic gave it a real go but Italy's first goal helped Lippi's men take command of the game and the longer it went the less likely it appeared that the Czechs would save themselves. Inzaghi's strike ended the contest and left looking forward to the next round while their opponents bow out."

GHANA 2 - 1 USA

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/[....]all/world_cup_2006/4853408.stm

"As has been the case in every game they played in Germany 2006, the US conceded up the game’s first goal. Although they managed to pull one back as they did against Italy, the scoreline did not stay level for long, and they just did not have the fire power to overturn another deficit."

JAPAN 1 - 4 BRAZIL

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/[....]all/world_cup_2006/4853416.stm

"Brazil’s samba football finally arrived in Germany with a superb second-half performance that dismantled Japan, earning the world champions an exciting last 16 clash against Ghana. Japan, who will fly home a little disappointed after their exertions four years ago, will rue the equalising goal conceded seconds before half-time."

==

CROATIA 2 - 2 AUSTRALIA

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/[....]all/world_cup_2006/4853428.stm

"Stuttgart played host to a night of unforgettable drama, where both sides could have progressed to the second round at different stages, but at the end it was Australia who were celebrating and heading to Kaiserslautern to face Italy on Monday."

Simunic got three yellow cards!

Posted by Xugaa
Well actually three yellow cards and a red lol!

I saw that, the Croatians went a bit beserk at the end and it was if they were trying to get sent off because they were so angry and upset, three sending off's in total... Did you anyone see the referee's reaction when one of the Croatians grabbed him lmao.

Owen and Roony were heralded as the striker team. Only lasted two minutes.

Posted by >500
that ref in Aust v Croatia game was shocking. The refs have something against us Aussies i think lol. Vs. Brazil they were crap and v Japan they gave them a goal when the goalie was obstructed. And how can you not no when some one has two yellow cards....

Ah well, at the end of the day theres nothing you can do about it so no point complaining...

Posted by Xugaa
Well to be honest Ads...

The referee's throughout this tournament have been very poor, considering they are meant to be the best referee's in the world. The only one I have seen that has really been fair and done his job properly is the Japanese referee in the World Cup.

UKRAINE 1 - 0 TUNISIA

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/[....]all/world_cup_2006/4853454.stm

"Ukraine, though nowhere near as impressive as against Saudi Arabia, just did enough to edge this encounter and deservedly progress to the last 16. Tunisia, for all their endeavour, rarely troubled Shovkovskyi and will return home rueing the lapse in concentration from Jaidi that put paid to any hopes they might have harboured of stealing the three points they needed."

==

SAUDI ARABIA 0 - 1 SPAIN

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/[....]all/world_cup_2006/4853438.stm

"It was ultimately a deserved victory for Spain's second-string who were in control for almost the entire match but were wasteful in front of goal. Saudi Arabia had the game’s outstanding player in goalkeeper Zaid, who made a host of quality saves to prevent a landslide defeat. While Saudi Arabia head for home, Spain can look ahead to the knockout stage with confidence."

SWITZERLAND 2 - 0 SOUTH KOREA

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/[....]all/world_cup_2006/4853466.stm

"The win sees Switzerland through to the Round of 16 for the first time since 1994, where they will face a tough test against Ukraine. Brave Korea and their wonderful fans will sadly be heading for home as France’s win in the other group match against Togo sees Raymond Domenech's side through to the knockout stages as runners-up. They will square off against high-flying Spain."

==

TOGO 0 - 2 FRANCE

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/[....]all/world_cup_2006/4853462.stm

"France got the FIFA World Cup victory they have been waiting eight years for, meaning they finished as runners-up behind Switzerland in Group G and they will now face Spain in Hannover in the Round of 16 on Tuesday. Togo, beset by internal problems, head home after three straight defeats."

sverige its a cold shower for me...

ps: germany is my other favourite team, but sweden is a bit more near to my heart...

Posted by Residentevil
Well boba bad news for you. Germany is leading 2:zip in the half. But the Swedes have been scoring late in the past three games, so I suspect Germany has to hold them in the second half.

Posted by BobaFett
amen

Posted by Residentevil
Germany - Sweden 2:0

Sweden missed a penalty kick.

Posted by BobaFett
bit disappointed cos of s///eden... the germans are good, hope they keep on and they will be the world champions

Posted by solidsingh
sweeden played very poor i think

Posted by Superluminova
I have to say i'm really enjoying this world cup the best i can remember. I put £5 on germany before the tourment at 14/1 looking good so far come on the germans! lol

Posted by BobaFett
this eng - ecu game is one of the most boring game imo. if there wouldnt be that freekick... anyway, england didnt deserved the win, if they will win, very weak and disappointing what ericssons team has to offer.

Posted by fatreg
a win is a win mr boba...

fatreg

Posted by BobaFett
thats right, but england is ( or at least should be ) able to show quality play... i am not a big football fan, not even an expert, but i didnt recognized many differences betwwen the 2 teams, however there are so many great players in the eng team. i missed the fast, hard football, the great attacks etc

Posted by Residentevil
England got lucky. Minimal effort and a win. However, the Equadorians did not play well either, so from that stand point I would have liked to see a penalty kick square off. At least that is exciting for the audience. Plus in the next round they will not be able to get by with a performance like that. I think they will play the Dutch and they are good.

mr beckhams free kick was the mutts nutts.

like to see anyone else in the world as good as that...

fatreg

Posted by BobaFett
indeed, that was beautiful, but next to it nothing happened imo... or is the only weapon of the team a david kick?

Posted by BobaFett
por - nl. so, thats what i call good and exciting game lets hope mr ericsson and the team is watshing and learning...

Posted by BobaFett
respect for both teams, congrat for portugal, IT WAS E GREAT GAME!

did u see that pic, when the2 nl players and the portugal one - all of them red card "owners" - sitting next to each other and watching the last moments? thats real sport!

Posted by fatreg
dirty dirty dirty game....

no need for that.

footballs supposed to be the beautiful game..

fatreg

Posted by BobaFett
@fatreg its a game... and atleast we had some action

Posted by fatreg
you dont need 14 yellow and 3 red cards for a good game boba...

its a disgrace. dont think we will be seeing that ref again this world cup!!

fatreg

Posted by BobaFett
yeah, many cards, but it was real battle, the referee hadnt got an easy job there. trust me, about this game will be many discusions, next to the cards, we saw professional football and qulaity. and mind my words, in my former former post, when the players were sitting next to each other. that shows, that these players done what they done on the field, at the end of the they, the are all for one reason there, play and entertain ( themself and us ). and we had our show!
