now that you mention it...i ain;t noticed them either recently.

and what happened to Dime bar?.....I love dime bar but don't see it around anymore.

Reminds me of the Harry Enfield advert for Dime Bar...used to crack me up!

Posted by Sammy_boy
I had a Dime bar recently, but they're now called 'D'aim' bars or something like that. They also sell them in the food sections of Ikea stores.

RIP Joosters, I liked them too!

Posted by masseur
according to sweetmania they have been discontinued by Mars

Posted by axxxr

Oh no wonder...i had noticed Daim (Dime was better) but did'nt know if it was the same thing?....i'll check it out....Cheers!

Found the old advert for Dime Bar ..Classic!

The new dime logo is the European name for them, just like we lost the marathon to snickers. They still sell the dime in morrisons, if that is any help.

Posted by Luke-the-magic-man
dimes are about in most places, I went to ikea about 3 weeks ago and they had loads there lol.

I don't believe it, im quite outraged (well not really but...) I really wanted some joosters to, they are really nice and now I think il have to import some jellybellys from the USA or something... I am gutted

Posted by masseur
for those oldies of us, you can get most of those old lollies at A Quarter of...

trouble is, everytime I go into there and pick even my few favs, I end up with a total of about £30-£40 and so just cancel out of the page!

Yeh proberbly they were \"Daim\" as sammy_boy mentiond...and not DIME.

I don't have a ikea store near me,so cant go there!

Posted by pmerryman
As I said, Morrisons sell them. You must have a Morrisons store nearby?. As for the Jelly Belly's, you can get them in a large tub from Costco.

Posted by axxxr
Oh Yeh i do have a morrisons..but i was refering to DIME specifically and not DAIM as they are now called.

Posted by pmerryman
They taste exactly the same to me, just all european labelling

Posted by SCORPIONKING1982
Is this another case of Jif/Cif type label madness or are they actually different?

axxr can u find the dime armadillo! advert, that was the best!

So expensive though, although there is a seller on ebay that does individual flavours for like £3 a bag.

Posted by x_lucy_x
Daim and Dime are the same seriously they have the same packaging and taste so the same!! I'm quite sure.. I like Dime's lol

Posted by axxxr
I still prefer DIME ...what the hell does Daim mean anyway

Silly eurpean laws....thats why i hope the U.K never integrates into the union.

Thanks for that mate!

That statement in the article is wrong because i never recognised Daim as Dime...i thought it was something different.

“The product has a strong trade dress-up, with colours, design and a logo that stand out. We are confident that people will recognize “Daim” as the chocolate they know and love,”

Posted by haynesycop
Daim is a stupid name i think! What is the point of changing it now!

It is like when they changed oil of ulay to oil of olay, just plain wrong, doesn't sound right.

Posted by axxxr
Yeh my mum was'nt too happy about Oil of Ulay changed to Olay?....Pathetic....what the hell is CIF anyway?.... JIF was way better and well known....Still prefer Marathon to Snickers!

Posted by haynesycop
Oh yeah i liked the name jif, cif is wrong too. I am obviously far to young to remember marathan bars, hehe!

Posted by Luke-the-magic-man
even I remember marathon bars and I think im younger then you!

The cif thing was a joke, I never got it only thing I can think of is that jif were doing badly so they repackaged...

and lets face it the olay thing is obvious lol

mind you why did opal fruits change to starburst?

Posted by SCORPIONKING1982
Cif is a brand of cleaning products by Unilever, known as Jif in Australia and New Zealand.

The Jif brand was also used in several European markets (Great Britain, Ireland, and the Netherlands)
until 2001, when the name was changed to Cif in order to harmonise marketing and product inventories
across the continent. The name Cif was chosen partly because it was used in more markets, partly
because it was perceived as a better name across the range of European languages, and also it was
thought thats people living across Europe could not properly pronounce the word "Jif" and partly because
of the potential for confusion, in Britain, with the unrelated Jif lemon juice.

When did marathon bar's change over then, surely before 1984 as i do not recall them at all, mind you i don't like snickers so maybe never noticed.

Why do they change anything? I mean some changes are good starburst is better than opal fruits and o2 is better than bt cellnet etc etc.

Posted by Luke-the-magic-man
repackaging or changing the name of something is normally because a product is foing badly or not selling well. Its a form of extension strategy which is used by marketing and will generally only be used as a last resort

Up until 1991, Twix was known as Raider in Europe. When they changed it to Twix, sales fell dramatically. Some people just dont like change.

WHAT THE F*** HAPPENED TO MAVERICK!!!!!!!!!!!!!

YOU COMPLETE AND UTTER DUMB ARSES NESTLE!

Right now i've let that out, shall we continue...

EDIT: Just found this...

Maverick was a chocolate bar snack manufactured by Nestlé Rowntree and marketed in the UK. The snack, which was similar to the Fuse bar sold by Nestlé Rowntree competitor Cadbury, was launched in 1997 and contained caramel, raisins and biscuit and toffee pieces covered in milk chocolate. Three years after its launch, the product was discontinued.

What the hell is a marathon bar all about? Was that the old school snickers? I have only ever known a snickers in my little lifetime!

Daim and Dime is the same as Twix and Raider, the packaging is the same, colour and lettering its just recognising a different name on the same packet, I spose if you are really craving a Twix in Europe then it is feeasble to buy a Raider, even though it will probably taste different cuz the name's different

And Opal Fruits were so much better.. can remember them!

Posted by pmerryman
Yes marathon was the original name for a snickers.

Just found this on the web.

America's Marathon bar is not to be confused with the Marathon Bar formerly sold in the United Kingdom. Britain's Marathon was a chocolate, caramel, and peanut product sold in the United States under the more familiar name Snickers. In 1990, Mars decided to change the Marathon bar's name to Snickers, the world's top-selling chocolate bar. Since Mars didn't want to lose the candy bar's British fans, the candy bar's wrapper sported both the Snickers and Marathon name for 18 months, with the Marathon name in smaller type. Afterward, the Marathon name was dropped, and Snickers/Marathon went from the U.K.'s
