The thing I miss is that with moto phones everything was personabilizable and free, I mean you could flash the firmware you want for free and always will be someone up to help you out. Why does SE third partner (normal ppl) software developers charge for everything? Why we don't have good and FREE software for modding SE phones? Is there a reason for this?

moto is so crappy that they cant secure their phones from hackers. like holding water with a sieve. they also disable features from the phone so they can sell the same phone a couple of years later with a "new" feature (ROKR).
"moddable?" if want to jump through hoops just to change the skin, or install a game. then mod away.
with SE, there is no need to mod. customising is 3 keypresses away

You're not right! a few years ago one guy (or hacker as you wrote) called VILKO could find the way to change file system of motorola phones and to turn on the hidden features. Sure if SE fans would have such guy, you won't write the words like above.

I came from a V3 to a K750i... granted the V3 UI leaves a lot to be desired, but they were/are totally moddable, people over at motox's site were always discovering new features via firmware/flex edits that could be applied with the included cable. I think Motorola, or a disgruntled employee is working behind the scenes on 'motorola modding' supplying the details for hex-editing etc, since this is the reason many people put up with the less-than-perfect UI. From what i can see, this would push motorola's sales up quite a bit.
I moved to an SE k750i primarily because it takes a memory card (meaning I can safely backup data etc and store more themes/ringtones/videos) and the better camera (VGA to 2Mpix). However these phones arent moddable in any way by the end user. Fair enough!
The SE UI is more responsive than Motorola's system, but I do miss the ability of being able to hack certain features like moving the operator logo, date, time etc. But I can live with that, since this is only cosmetic.
All in all, I am happy with the K750i, perhaps SE's firmware doesnt need to be modded by the end user as it contains all the features that most users would need anyway?
I think that SE are slowly working to stop people flashing their phones outside of SEUS by adding more security features with each CID number. Mine's at CID49 which is fairly new, meaning I cant cross-flash any W800i firmware onto it - yet. Although I'm sure someone will work it out eventually, just like they've done with previous CID numbers

that's weird, I've never liked ONE motorola phone in my life... well maybe when Startac ruled the earth. It was the only acceptable phone available here, like 8 years ago.

Considering that the UI is probably the core of the phone, then SE have got it all right, and Moto has nothing to be desired. What's the point of JUST having a good design?

One thing i like about moto are the ability to password protect everything.
