Hi guys..Ive read in recent posts that there is no hardware difference between the t68m and t68i(except the blue keypad lights)..So since my t68m is already upgraded to i, i was curious why izzit that when sonyericsson launches a new software like the r5d007 its only meant for the i and not the upgraded m?The version for T68m upgraded to i only comes out latter...Since its claimed to be the same hardware we shld be able to upgrade to the same software with the actual i rite?

It should be the problem of IMEI. The IMEI of a phone can distinguish between T68m and T68i. When upgrading using emma2, the server will check the IMEI of the phone. If it found that you have a T68m, it simply don't upload the firmware to your phone. It's not because the firmware don't support your phone, it's just because SE don't want to let T68m upgrade as rapid as T68i(don't ask me why).

Posted by Cytech

they are separated because of T68m upgraded for the first time needs a filesystem upgrade which is not included in the ordinary T68i firmware...

have you also tried bluetooth connections? mine sometimes just switches off when my laptop is connected to it via bluetooth. that's in R5A...

I'll go and get the upgrade soon anyway

I have the same problem with my T68i that has R5A020.

About this new software for T68i,..there seems to be some problems with the Bluetooth-part in that specific software.

It seems to "hang" and go into some sort of "loop",..we (Nextlink) experienced it on one of our T68i´s.
(tried with different headsets)
It doesnt happen all the time,..but its very annoying when it does.

I myself use the "older" SW,..no problems there. I can use all headsets,..and also laptop and pda with BT.

Hey i checked with ericsson and they told me There's NO difference between r5c and r5d only tt r5c will erase your Mms settings while r5d wouldn't and i upgraded to r5c just yesterday don't see any difference at all with sms speed wonder why you all say There's a difference....

I just got my 68m phone back from the service center in Chanhassen, MN. I had a stuck key, which they fixed, yay. I noticed that my software is now R5A020, I had R2C. I had asked to get it updated to the latest version, but I didn't specifically say which version. I wish they had upgraded it to the version with the ability to asign a ringtone to your sms alert .

So the ericsson service centers here in the states have the ability to upgrade your software/firmware.

Although dunno if they do it for free, I got mines upgraded as an added bonus since I really sent it in to get a key fixed.

Hi.. I got my t68i upgraded to r5d. One new thing is that you got the push inbox in the menue where you can see sms an mms and mails.. But for what do you need a push inbox.. Cheers sven

Posted by Hurrle
I've got the push inbox in the messages menu on R5A. Think that was introduced in R5A.

Posted by floke
I've also got R5D007 on mine now but I dont recognize any difference either in comparison with R5C. The big difference was between R2x and R5x!

These firmware upgrades are turning into soap operas here on esato. It always follows this patern:

Enthusiast says: "Look, cool, I got the new upgrade, it is SOOO fast!" Sometimes this statement is spiced up with statements that the SMS tone is louder, the vibrator stronger. What is next? LEDs brighter? Phone lighter?

The next phase is the doubters: "I didn't notice any improvement..."

Last there is someone who actually knows: "R5C and R5D only differ in that MMS configuration doesn't get erased".

To all entusiasts out there: PLEASE don't bother to put any statements about speed, SMS tone etc if you cannot confirm it.

Anyone here with R5D and Parrot CK3000 BT Carkit? Does it work again? Because with R5A020, it does not

Greetz,
Rog.

I've used my CK3000 with R1B, R2B and now R5C. Have not had any problems. What's not working for you?

That's interesting... With R5A, the Parrot tries to connect th phone, but then, it doesn't get any further... no synhronization, I'm not able to open the Parrot-Menue in my mobile, and the phone remains connected (which, with earlier SW-Versions, wasn't the case). Also, I'm not able to make or receive any calls.

Greet,
Rog.

I agree w Jas. Do not post changes you noticed on new firmware released if you cannot confirm it. SMS tone and increased speed among other bug fixes occurred in R5a. I just upgraded to R5D from R5C. Aside from the MMS settings upgrade not being erased, the following are what I noticed so far. T9 entry and scrolling down a wap page is a bit faster compared to R5C. Opening menus and pictures also a bit faster too. Ring and SMS tone still the same after the improvement in R5a. So far no errors with my HBH-30 and palm BT connection yet. Will keep you guys posted for anything new.

Has anyone noticed any change in call quality / signal strength with the new R5x versions ? I upgraded from R2F to R5C about a week ago and have experienced problems with dropped calls and often bad signal strength ever since.

I am wondering if this is perhaps one reason why R5D came out just over a week after R5C ... ?

Rog,

have you tried deleting the CK3000 from your paired devices list and re-pairing? I had a similar problem once while playing with R2B and the auto handsfree profile (added to the accessories list). My t68 got stuck and wouldn't communicate with the CK3000. Everything went back to normal after deleting and re-pairing. Hope that works for you too. I don't think its a version specific problem, although R5A was only available for one week before being replaced by R5B...

Does anyone in the States have this version on their T68i?

Do the T-Mobile or AT&T stores have it yet? I don't think T-Mobile even has the phones yet.

Hi Everyone,

I'm new to all this stuff. I got a few questions if anyway can help. How do you know what version of software you have? Is it available in Canada? And is it possible for the software to improve siganl strength?
I find my signal to be very weak all the time. Thanks

Posted by floke
@DragonEye:
Yes I can help. Click on the link at top of the Esato Forum saying "Search"
Enter the two words "software" and "version" in the field and press "Search" button.
You will receive 10231 posts, or now 10232 since the question was put in this thread too.
I didnt have time to check all those posts so I clicked the first link by chance.
I tried clicking the second link too and there was the answer too.

Was this hard?

Posted by DragonEye
Thanks, that was very helpful... I'll make sure I use the "Search" from now on. Would you happen to know the other answers too?

Posted by brojd
Floke, wouldn't it been easier to just write him the combo, rather than posting all that text?

I recently upgraded to R5C and notice that problem with my BT not working with my CK3000. it seem to loop and not sync with the CK3000

Hi All,
I've just upgraded my T68i software to R5D and I must say, it doesn't really help. I don't seems to find it speed up in the Menu but I can say it rarely hangs. Also, the Push Inbox is in the Message Menu instead of in the Wap Services. Better management of GPRS for Email. Other than these, it remains the same. Maybe because I only left 370KB in my T68i.... But I do hope for more improvements. The SE Technician inform me that SE Headquarters are looking into incorporating polyphonics ringtone to T68i... not sure how true it is but I think it is an advantage. Till then, just keep our finger crossed and hope for more goodies.

Hi all,

@Jison

Thanks for the info.....
BTW any idea that SE will bring polyphonic tune for T68m/i/ie?

regards

So does this mean that R5D007 is now available for the T68m?

Posted by arroyootje
No,the software for T68m is also R5D,but not R5D007, i think it's r5d001 but am not sure....

Posted by jocer
im using t68m firmware version is R5D007

Posted by RomiZ
Rog,

I also have the CK3000 but have never managed to get it working. The problem i've got is that the radio is never muted when making/receiving calls and no sound is channelled through the car speakers.

Prior to this week I had version R2A014 and I could pair the two devices and sync the phone book etc... Since the upgrade to R5D007, pairing is fine but then it just ends there. No sync happens and I can't seem to access the Parrot Menu from Accessories.

Have you had any joy?

Romi

polyphonic ringtones requires hardware change so it will not be available for T68m/mc/i/ie

@Cytech

Could you please tell me the name of the T68m(i) update file on EMMAII online update menu list?

My Flash point claims that they didn't get R5D007 nor R5C! They told me (even showed me) that the last soft on the list was R2F!!!

Though, I know it's available here, a friend left his T68i at a service point for the day and he got R5D...

Are they just stupid or is it at a different place/menu or does it have another name/designation?

Thanks!

there are two warranties.... warranty of purchase... which normally is one year... and then there is warranty of production whish is 15 month from productiondate (productiondate is found on the label underneath the battery, for example 02w01, meaning it's manufactured year 2002 week 1). It's always best to bring your receipt when leaving the phone for service...

Does it always take the same time when you upgrade from one version to an other?

yeah.... if it's not any bigger upgrade, like T68m -> T68i

Does R5D include recurrent appointments? (setting an appointment that repeat automatically every week, every month, every year,...)

Is it really possible to edit the SIM contatcs?

Posted by burger
Here are the Ericsson's versioning scheme:

R1A - the number '1' shows wich construction/funktion version it has. It can be from 1 to 9.
R1B - the character 'B' shows wich constructionvariant it has. It can be any character from A to Z exept for I, O, P, Q & R.

Example 1:
SE phone T1000 has version R1A and had a softwareupgrade that made Theme editing possible, now the new version should be R2A because of a new function was introduced.

Example 2:
SE T68i has version R5A020 and had a softwareupgrade that made the menus faster, now the new version should be R5B001 because of a 'fix'.

Posted by floke
@Wildnomad: nope, I dont find anything like that. Too bad. I wonder why they didnt implement such a simple thing

Posted by WildNomad
Thanks anyway... It's a shame dropped it out from the firmware.

Posted by floke
When you set the messge alert to "click" instead of "tone" there is no vibration when an sms is coming although the vibrator is set to always on!
Has it always been like this or is it new in R5D007?

Has anyone else noticed this?
