I'm wondering what you guys are using for a case (if anything) for the 8800
I had previously tried the scuba (see pic) but the plastic bit atthe front on the top broke from stress placed on it across the phone. I bought a second one and it did exactly the same.
I just want something that will sit nicely on my belt but still show the styling
any ideas?

I dont like using a case, i think it makes all phones look horrible, lol therfore i take the risk and dont use a case for my 8800, i just keep it in my pocket with nothing else in it.
But if u find a nice case i might consider it

Ive been looking around and that case you already had seems to be the only one to show it off, the rest are those universal ones, or pouch thingys.
I too prefer the phone naked!
Posted by masseur
yeah naked is the best but you need somewhere to put it sometimes so that you don't lay it down and forget it and/or have quick fingers pick it up and take it.
places like in a restaurant or pub and pockets really are not the best place

Agreed. Well what about one of those leather horizontal cases, they dont look good but they are good for having it on a belt I suppose?
Posted by masseur
I've got a leather horizontal case I got at CPW in the days of the Nokia 8210 which is still going strong, and that is what I am using, but it does kinda hide the phone
still looking around the web though...

Yeah I know what you mean. Well I havent found anything. Krussell dont do anything though do they? I would expect that to be quite good if they did.
Posted by masseur
krusell are generally my first choice and I have had one for each of my
phones, including the P series, but I don't find anything they do for the 8800 unfortunately

Dont know what you think to these?

This should be good, offers little protection but great for showing the phone off. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/FOR-NOK[....]QQcategoryZ35155QQcmdZViewItem
Works really great to, you just pop the phone in and out, it sorta snaps it in. so you use the phone as it is "Naked" then snap it into it's little holster

@Coxy, 1st one "ugh!", 2nd one is no better than what I have. sorry
@kk.226, thanks for the suggestion but I don't trust holsters. I lost a startac due to one of those that was supplied with the startac. the phone had popped out and I didn't even notice. I vowed I would never use such a phone holder every again. Indeed I only use cases if the belt hook has a lip that hooks under the belt to make it more secure

how about something silicon?

that looks awfull man, infact all the cases I have seen look apauling. I must say I never understand the people who insist on using a belt case when they can just put the bloody thing in their pocket.
Masseur I honnestly don't think you of all people would be stupid enough to leave a 300 quid phone somewhere
Posted by amnesia
I dont think it's stupid at all.
It's a great phone and I for one had to treat it like a gem.
At least with a case he'd actually be able to use it without worry.
Some silicon cases are quite nice.

after a few beers I wouldn't trust myself to be thinking about "where is my phone!"

I personally use the above (also bought from the above seller). I doesn't show the phone, but protects it very well. It was originally designed for the Nokia 6100, its a tight fit, but definately fits.

ok well I've been using the supplied pouch for a few days but have decided to get the one in my first post noe more time, and be very very careful when puttnig the phone in and out of the case so as not to break that strap across the top.
as a side note, the pouch makes a nice storage/carrying case actually and is definitly recommended for use if carrying the phone in your pocket

I dont recommend scuba personally (Body Glove cases) they are pretty cheap quality and always tear when i have one.

But it does look good, esp with the 8800 in there. Shame about the poor quality though.

my wife has been using a scuba for about a year now on her Samsung D500. Its much the same style with the same clear plastic bit across the top, which the slidy bit slides through, and hers is perfectly fine
anyway, I'll give it one last go as its about the only one I like. maybe since I last had one they have sorted that problem (he said hopefully!)
Posted by masseur
ok well I ended up with another scuba because they just look soooo good!
knowing my previous mistakes I have taken care of it over the first few days not forcing the phone into it too hard or quickly. so now the clear plastic strip seems to have stretched enough to not be loose but not strain when inserting the phone
so I'm very happy with this one now!

if phones were meant to have cases they would have them built in surely??

Posted by masseur
sometimes is just so much more convenient carrying it on my belt but most of the time it is 'naked'
Posted by fatreg
good good masseur,
naked is good.........

wow.. nice bag indeed..
But for me as well.. naked is better.. even the nokia case given from the package is terrible..
Posted by kk.226
Any chance of selling your original nokia pouch now mate?
Posted by masseur
no, sorry, I want to keep that.
anyway, 3rd time unlucky again seems. I was extra extra careful but after a week or so its gone the same way as my previous 2
I've contacted body glove about this problem but so far no reply.
So, I'm again looking for something similar that really works!
Posted by masseur
just to wrap this up, despite my migiving about holsters I ended up with one and its actually worked very well and holds the phone tight
heres a pic taken in VGA mode by my K800
