I got my 8800 a few weeks ego and got a question, what is the little button at the back of the charger unit bit?

iv looked in the manual and on the nokia website but cant find it.

Posted by JiggyJaggy
If you hold the button down it toggles the neon light on and off on the base of the charging dock

Posted by p900 lover
Thanks 4 the fast reply.

One more thing, when i listen to MP3 on the 8880 there is an option to transfer it to a BT headset, and when i do it the MP3 will play from the headset, i have a HBH 65. Is this normal, i never knew any phones could do this, only the new phone (k800) coming out had this profile.

Posted by sunjivas
im pretty sure most recent nokias can do it because definately worked with my mates 6630. For Sony Ericssons, you are are right K800i is first phone released with the profile require (as far as I am aware) - my K750 definately cant do it!

my 8910i can transfer music to BT!

why has it taken SE 4 years to come up with the same SW??

thought they were innovators?

Might rename this the "Nokia 8800 thread" as i dont think there is 1 already,

can any 1 recomend any headphones that have the 2 ear thingys, cos the that came with the 8800 only has 1 ear thingy which isnt the best for listening to the radio?

Posted by masseur
well there is my 8800 thread which has quite a bit of discussion but perhaps thats quite personal to me so please yourself

I got a HDD-1 of ebay which works fine. There are plenty on ebay for under a fiver delivered

i'm getting the same! Got a black rear cover coming which will be engraved, you get that done at you jewelers?

Posted by p900 lover
Ya i was going 2 get a black cover and get that done but decided not to cos the cover i have now has some small scratches on it and i will have 2 buy a new cover if i come 2 selling it so saves me having to buy 2.

I got it done at an engraving place at Bond Street tube station as i got a braclet engraved from there for xmas from a friend. It only cost 80p per letter but i had 2 pay a £10 minimum charge for the 8800 incase anything went wrong.

Posted by kk.226
Hang on, you had to pay if anything went wrong :S could you not have just given them the battery cover, then they might not have charged you that? It looks great though, i'm going for something similar

Posted by p900 lover
Lol no i mean he charged a minimum of £10 not the normal 80p per letter incase somthing went wrong. come to think of it i could have just given him the battery cover lol

The black cover ur getting is it just covered in black or is it all black?

Edit: that really dont make any sence lol.
What im asking is once its done will the engraved writing come out black or silver?

Lol good question, i'm hoping silver, or a different shade of black if you know what I mean, if it scratches the finish it'll be visible

I'm deffo doing it on black though, If I come to sell the phone i'll pop the original cover back on, this way when I get my hands on a black 8800 i'm set

Posted by p900 lover
Ya silver or a differnt shade of black will look nice.

I should have got a black cover as soon as i got the 8800 and kept the origial cover scratch free.

Where did u get the black cover from?

Posted by kk.226
Got the battery cover off ebay, should arrive soon

I got a question, when ever I slide the screen back down it asks me to lock the keypad or not, any idea how to get rid of this message? It never came up on the 8800 I had before

Posted by p900 lover
Is it a original battery cover?

It could be the automatic keyguard.

When you close the screen does it say Lock on the left key and cancel on the right key?

Posted by kk.226
Yep the cover is original, was thinking of getting it from cnn.cn but ebay seemed better.

Yep that's the message, just wondering how to turn it off? Doesn't seem to do anything if I lock it or not, can't see a difference

Posted by p900 lover
can u post the link of the auction please? does the seller have anymore?

i see what u mean, i never noticed it cos i have set my automatic keyguard to lock the phone in 1 min and after the keypad is locked those option go away

Posted by kk.226
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/100-Ori[....]goryZ42432QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem That's the one, I know it's from HK but i've bought covers off this seller before and all were as described

I put automatic keyguard on, but it still gives the message when I close the slide... argh

Posted by babysmile
I hope you all can see the pictures..

This is between the Silver and the Black..

This is the back side when u slide inside the 8800. Note left side is the silver and right side is the black.. Dunno do u think is it 100% original to you all guys?

Posted by kk.226
Where did you get it from mate (and are you selling it?)

Posted by babysmile
Of course not selling it at the moment.. Where did I buy from ?? From the link that u send from Ebay... I think u also have that black cover already... hehe..

How do u think about the casing?? Is that feel OK or KO ??

Posted by kk.226
Oh lol you got it from that link, it feels good to me, He's a very trusted seller too... has always sent me what was described. You think it might be fake?

Posted by p900 lover
kk you going 2 get urs engraved?

Posted by kk.226
I was reconsidering, as I was going to sell it to buy a p990i, then the back arrived and theres no way I can sellit as it looks sooooooooo good!

Will post pics once it's done, havent had time to go get it done as I got sooo much coursework

Found out something interesting, the dummy 8800's have the real housings on them, so if your looking to change it, just buy a dummy phone for like £20 off ebay instead of the full housing I got a dummy one in today from merc_man as my 8800 had a problem, and it's all sorted!

Anyone here considered getting a longerlife battery? Apparently there are some on ebay but i haven't checked it out yet.

Posted by fatreg
they OEM KK? if not i wouldnt touch em...

still need me an 8800

fatreg

Posted by kk.226
Nope that's the thing Col, I dion't think they are, and I don't really trust em, but I have to carry 2 spare batteries with me all the time

Posted by fatreg
sheesh 2 spares...

is the battery really THAT good?

hmmm maybe ill stick to my 8910i then.

fatreg

Posted by kk.226
I mean it's rubbish for a main phone I think 3 hours talk time, as a spare phone it's not to bad. I'm treating it as a main, and the battery goes VERY quick... I wouldn't mind a 8910 (not 8910i) if you got one going

Posted by fatreg
only got 2 x 8910is and 2 x 8850s and 1x 8855 atm

lacking on 8810/8910 and 8800 for me

not happy.

fatreg

Posted by p900 lover
kk did you shot the 8800 your talking about in your other thread or have u got 2?

Posted by kk.226
Lol I have 2... Well one left now... I'm still gonna get the black back engraved, and on the lookout for a full black metal housing for the shot one.

I do have this message occouring on mine though now (After changing the housing)

See the little car? If I turn the phone on and back on again I get this...

It's the handsfree headset I think.

Atm I can't use the regular speaker to listen to calls etc. I have to put it on loudspeaker.

If taken apart/re-fitted the housing about 5 times to make sure nothings loose but it's still there

Posted by babysmile
That's mean even the video provided also makes problem for the audio connection?? wow.. have to be very careful for other users who wish to change housing..

Alrite buddy, hope I can answer these question..

1) "active incoming call divertes" means if u got a call divert features on ur telephones number. For example if you are using O2 and there is a features of sending sms txt 2 tell u somebody been trying to contact u but u didn't answer it. Another example is if somebody trying to contact u but u seen aren't available or buzy, then it diverts on another telephone number, maybe towards the voicemail.. To check what number you have diverted, go to Menu -> Settings -> Call -> Call Divert -> Check those status one by one or if u hate that, just select " Cancel All Diverts ".

2) From Sim Numbers to Phone Memory, go to Menu -> Contacts ->Names -> Options ( Black Left side buttons ) -> Copy -> From Sim Card to phone.
This is also same goes from Phone Memory to Sim Cards and they will ask u whether u like to keep or delete the original contact. Jus remember when u got multiple number on a single name which save in Phone Memory, when transfer to Sim Card, you shall get Names plus a numbers.

For example, suppose is Adam with 3 contacts in Phone Memory, well in sim card will be :
Adam
Adam1
Adam2.

3) Normally in Sony Ericsson Mobile phones, the sim contact will not being used. It just using the Phone Contacts. I assume that :

i) You actually have the contacts in the Sim Card & u have copy again from K700i..

ii) Ensure that in 8800 is select using Sim Card only. Then u sure about that you have duplicate from normally 50 contacts to 100 contacts..

iii) Put back ur K700i and seem just the same one contact in one name.. Try to find the Options and using SIM Numbers and you shall get double Names..

Hope this helps!!

Thanks a lot mate it was very helpfully but still a bit confused
1) is there a way for me to stop "active incoming call divertes" coming up everytime i make a call? i still want my calls diverted when im unavalible but dont want "active incoming call divertes" to come up on screen everytime i make a call

2) thats the thing on the K700 i saved each number under a different name for example
Emma-H (H being for house numbers) and
Emma-M (M being for mobile numbers) to stop this happening when i copy to sim when i change phones.

But i have now copied all the sim numbers to phone memory and the double entry has stoped.

Posted by babysmile
1) Nope, the warning will not dissapper. That's a advantage & disadvantage for Nokia user.

2) the -H and -M is impossible .. You have to do it manually ( or change using software in Computer on bluetooth. haha ) If u imagine u have Callers Groups select in Nokia and change to Sony Ericsson, then u shall have something like :

Emma $
Emma # etc.. ( vise versa cause SE and Nokia have it's different ) ..

Yippie!!

Thanks a lot babysmile, helped a lot there

Hello guys, I got myself a 8800 as a 2nd phone (have a Jasjar)

Anyway, I'm a bit picky when it comes to phones.. when the 8800 is in power save mode, and then I bring back, I can see the area that shows the date and time is different that the rest of the screen. Especially when highlighted.

Did you guys notice somehting like that? Or is it just mine ?

MY Samsung D600 can do that aswell

Posted by p900 lover
Im looking to get a D600 (if the price is right) to replace my K700 as my second phone.

BTW i was really suprised to see that his can be done already, listening to song from a BT headset. Shows how much i was into SE

Posted by masseur
@p900 lover, yeah it works quite well. Actually I raised a topic yesterday about that but how you can't listen to the Radio via bluetooth, which is a bit dissapointing. see here

@Enrique, not sure what you mean. can you describe better or show a pic?

Posted by babysmile
Enrique means that when u select Power Saver On, then minutes later when u open the phone again, you can see the middle part screen is more difference compare to other display..

I have told many 8800 users try not to select power saver on.. They call it Screen Burn... So select power saver off and you won't worry about the this kind of display.. Even me also same and just select a analog clock screensaver is much better.. hehe..

Posted by p900 lover
@miss uk that is a good price but i think i will hang on for a bit more. Thanks anyway.

@masseur i dont think it will work having radio via bluetooth cos you still need an anteena. But there should be a way to have the headset pluged in but chose to use the bt headset.

@babysmile what do you mean by Screen Burn? and how do i set analoge clock?

Posted by masseur
yeah, but I'm sure now there is no way for radio via BT

also... as babysmile mentioned, the analogue clock is a screensaver so go to settings, display, screensaver, screen savers and choose analogue clock

the 8800 doesn't have the same capability as the V3, for example, where you can choose to have the standard clock as digital or analogue

Posted by kk.226
I have that screen burn lol make that 102 problems on this 8800! still a great phone though, ordered a brand new one off someone in this forum

As for the analogue clock, I thought I set it to digital, and I was in bed and the light came on from the screen saver I looked down on my phone and thought "shit" the 2 big lines looked like I cracked the screen! Was very relieved when I found out it was a screen saver!
