Maybe it's the disk just spinning?
Don't really know, the ps2s I had lasted a week max, hated the damn things.

If the games still load ok and they load at the normal speed then I wouldn't bother changing the laser unit. My PS2 is a bit noisey as well, I wouldn't worry about it as long as it works and it's not scratching your disks.

someone has ripped the power and eject switch off mine. it is now in pieces but the metal wire thing is gone that should be there

get a lens cleaning kit. they are pretty cheap. its spinning alot, becuase the lens isnt being able to read the disk that well. so it should fix the problem if you get a lens cleaning kit.
