In the US Cingular has released their HSDPA network in some 16 cities and I happen to live in one of them. So far they have only released 2 UMTS phones (384kbps) and they are planning on releasing some more but they will be HSDPA (1.6mbps-3.2mbps). I'm curious to know if there are currently any SE phones that support this higher speed. My understanding is that all 3g phones from SE are operating on the 2100 WCDMA frequency, however in the US Cingular uses 850 and 1900 frequencies and I'm affraid I haven't seen any SE phones to operate on those 3g frequencies. Does that mean I'll have to look elsewhere for my next handset?

Check out the M600i. It supports GSM1900 and high speed Data (HSCSD), if that's the same thing.

The M600 is still listed as UMTS and does not have 850mhz. From what I've read about it it only operates at 2100mhz for Data (WCDMA).

HSCSD is different from HSDPA.
For the layman and without being so technical, HSCSD (considered 2.5G) is an enhanced Circuit Switched Data (CSD which is 2G). HSCSD's speed is comparable to the speed of ordinary GPRS (up to about 56Kbps)
HSDPA is High Speed Downlink Packet Access and considered as 3.5G (faster than 3G in data deployment). It's downlink speed could reach up to 14.4 Mbps

Most the current HSDPA trial units being used for network test are from Qualcomm. Other chipsets may also be available, but don't expect that commercial units to be out very soon.

We have them available as PC-Cards in the US from Cingular right now: http://onlinestorez.cingular.[....]08&WT.svl=ppc&_requestid=56676
So I've been waiting for a phone that will have this capability because I really don't feel like having a separate data account and a card sticking out of my notebook (with the possibility of it breaking off).

There are a ton of them. See the phone selection site on Esate. Home top right.

Any news or rumours on this subject? I read that 3 Sweden are planning hsdpa, but are there any handsets? Data cards are not for me.
