i'm stuck with 10x broadband where i live...
walk less than 2 minutes down the road and you've got 20x, annoying even more since my best friend lives that 2 minutes away.

also what really pee's me off is that he gets the faster speed connection, mine is as slow as f*** and yet i depend on having broadband for my gaming...

You'll notice it says "Products will be available from 31/03/06" - that's only a couple of days ago.

My local exchange is 'enabled' for 8mb but I've got to wait for my next 'billing cycle' for my ISP to upgrade my connection.

Fortunately my next bill is due on the 6th! Although I wouldn't be surprised if they drag it out to next month.

I guess it'll take all ISPs a while to upgrade everyone after 31st March

hopefully not too long

pipex have been great for the last 15 months, dont really wanna have to change if i dont have to

@Xugaa: Is he close enough to setup a wireless connection to? you could split broadband costs as long as you get some decent speed out of it

I get 8mb from ukonline, not had a problem since some initial instalation problems. Might downgrade in September as im going away for atleast 4 months and im the user at home

hmmm, I knwo a guy who has 12meg bb, keeps on goign on about downloading half a gig in about 10 min, makes me sick lol. Am I right in thinking korea have 100mb bb in some places?

Posted by amnesia
what pisses me off is that 1mb and 2mb bt is the same price.
I'm at 1mb because I'm literally 1 meter too far..

I currently have 16MB @ home.
And TV broadcasted through ADSL is going to start in a few weeks.

10mbit here, but crappy 384kbps upstream speed is a disappointment.

i still rememebr the old days of.... doh! its bloody disconnected..... and .... woohoo, im gonna get a mp3 in like... 2 hours...... woohoo, im a legend..... (OLD DAYS OF THAT 56K MOFO)

Now we are moaning about 1,2,8,20 meg broadband.... lol i love it... i got 1meg NTl (who are pants might i add) and tbh, if it was any faster i would go through hdd too quickly......

Posted by p900 lover
its true, i remeber the dialing tone my 56k modem would make lol

what do u think will happen to broadband in say 5, 10 and 50 years time?

South Koreans have access to 80Mbps...

Well Japan just upgraded the 100Mb line to 1Gbps...slight little catch though with these speeds... I used the 100Mb line and it was blazingly fasttttt..but only in Japan..try and go outside and download from the states and you get some slow speeds right down to 2Mbps (if you lucky)

So to be honest, until alot of there servers can upgrade there systems to start handling these speeds no real point..

1gbps?

shit a brick.

i could actually stream my music from my website with no problems at all

hmmmm shame i dont live in Japan!

fatreg

why is it Japan is so far ahead in some respects yes so far behind in others? like why do they still light a candle at the stock exchange?

silly japs!

Never heard of that, but yeah the Down is 1Gbps and the up is running at between 12-24Mbps and its dirt cheap as well, if you live in a condo its normally inclusive with your monthly rental of the place or when you buy it well its basically free.

Meanwhile, Broadband in New Zealand has just been upgraded from 256kbps to 2Mbps - 3.5Mbps; I'm on the latter.
Upload increses fom 128kbps to 256kbps. Yippee.
60% of NZ internet users still subscribe to Dial-up.

Recent article in the NZ Herald on unbundling in the Telecomunications industry estimated NZ to be 22yrs behind the UK.
