hey folks,
i did some searchin on this and found a new service thats "collect sms". in this the sender pays nothin while the reciver pays for it if he chooses to read it...
i am from india and on airtel network. this service works by prefixing 2 in the recipient's number. eg. if u wanna send sms to 9935099350 then to use this service type the number as 29935099350. and the reciever pays for it if he views it while u get it for free!!
thats cool if u send regular jokes or if u ran outta credit on ur phone!!!

Another thing,how does the network know if the person has read the message or not?! And,who gets charged if he deletes without readin as u say to prevent himself from charge? Now why aren't u replyin?

I hope this solves the confusion..

what a big rip off! The receiver has to pay 2rs for every sms he chooses to receive!

This is not a good service. Here in Karnataka, we have 100 sms's free daily in College Special sim cards and if you want to activate it on normal cards, daily Re.1/- rent is required.

@alan over here at up there aren't any offers such as 100 sms free daily.... There are very few options available on Airtel....

The Lord deliver us. It isnt good netiquett to fleece ur friends in this way. You feel like contacting them, do so. Otherwise just stay put. I wont even dream of it.

@nanakay are you talkin about collect sms. Then let me tell you tat this service can also be used if you are outta credit.

@shivam
Is this true that the recieving party pays for sms??? Is this limited to only DELHI? or all india??? This facility is still available???
