I'm pretty knowledgable with computers, and have had a few computer jobs in the past, so I think I could have figured this out. But WITHOUT going onto the Esato page from the phone and without the infared port, HOW DO I GET PICTURES ONTO THE PHONE???? Is there a way I can email it to the phone? AT&T and sony/ericsson are worthless in this regard, as no one knows anything. If anyone could help me out, that'd be great. Once again, I want to be able to get pictures onto the phone without using Esato's WAP page or infared. Thanks for any help. I use a T68i

Hey!
Have you tried using wap? Thats ONE way to get stuff on your phone.
Sorry,didnt see the last part.

What pics are you talking about? Regular pics? you can buy a cable.and connect your phone and computer.

Sorry man, the only way is through wap, ir, datacable or bluetooth, either transfered through anothe computer or another phone. The t68 canot view or download email attachements. They're purely text only.

wow, thanks for the responses, what kinda data cable am i lookin to get, i dont feel like breaking down for a IR port for my comp, so maybe the datacable would be cheaper way to go, where can i get one (what kind of connection is it)

thanks guys

I think you can get a cable for usb or the serial port.Just ask a store,or here...

Posted by peanotation
yeah, what store...

Posted by peanotation
man i sound like a dumba$$

Posted by Eulogy
i dont know..i live in norway.i guess you can get it at a phonestore...where they sell cellphones or try the web.

Posted by MarkOng
they sell it at sescs but my advise is to get a bluetooth card or ir. An ir doesn't cost much more then a datacable and it can sync with more devices (pdas, other notebooks, etc.) then a datacable which can only connect your t68 to another device (most likely, only your computer)

so any IR port will do? as long as it's bundled with some sort of software to send files through it, of course.

Posted by Eulogy
yes,i use IR myself.much easier and didnt cost me anything coz my laptop has it.money saved..

Posted by MarkOng
all ir ports have bundled software to install the drivers. some even come with logo design and ringtone composing software (but only compatible with nokia phones). Ir is also better as many people have problems syncing by bluetooth.

Hi there,

been to sim lim to check out some IR ports for the PC. I noticed that they dun come with any bundled software at all.. just the port and USB cable... What brands of IR ports comes with bundled software?

BTW, is it really possible to send pictures using the datacable? I am using a parellel port datacable. I onli know it can syn with outlook.

Posted by MarkOng
I bought a hoya irwave port that came with bundled software for picture message creation and ringtone input.

Posted by MarkOng
as for the bundled software, you might need to download the drivers from the web.

If you are lucky, you find irda adapter price not much different than data cable. Just use any generic irda (SIR or HPSIR compatible), it is more worth. I bet you will not regret.

Posted by boxedfish
Where can i find the drivers of the bundled softwares? Any threads that you can provide?

Posted by MarkOng
the drivers are hardware dependent. You must check with the company's website. I bought mine from a shop at causeway point.

Posted by boxedfish
hi markong, which brand is your IRDA port? how much did u get it for?

thanks

Posted by MarkOng
Its hoya and it costs 76 bucks. Comes in a yellow box with some bundled software.

Posted by peanotation
75 bucks?? it sounds like a datacable would be a lot less expensive, or did you just get a really top of the line IR port, not like they can get much different.

Tekram Irda Adapter (USB) only cost US$.40 in Indonesia.

for sending files to the T68 download 'Sendfile'.

http://www.christersson.org/software_main.asp

for official T68 software go to
http://www.sonyericsson.com

click on 'global support', type in T68i and follow the prompts to download the 'Sony Ericsson Image Editor 1.2.0' or 'Synchronization' software.

MarkOng are u from the Philippines? where did you buy the infrared?? how much Philippine pesos? what else do u need to transfer pics to your phone??

Posted by peanotation
wow, decoy7 really helped me on that one, i had to get sendfile from the site he recomended, but had to get the MPM (which is needed for the software) from the Sony-Ericsson site. I guess I gotta go out and just bite down and buy a damn IR or data cable.

Try the MA-620 IR adapter.

The cheapest I've found is £29.35 from here:

http://www.activemobiles.com/MA-620%20Infrared%20Port%20-%20Ericsson.htm

Or £29.99 from here:

http://www.m-99.co.uk/PhoneAccessories/Infra_Red/infra_red.html

See this thread for more info.

I've got an after market serial cable for the T68 although it says T28/29 it fits.......and I've been told that it will work but I haven't yet got it to work on my pc!:( Do I need any special drivers etc?

you can get a bluetoothdongle from http://www.dabs.co.uk for 26GBP (about $40 us) but the software comes with it is crap.you will have to download one from this forum and install it. try search for wave linker or without space if you are really buying it. bluetooth is a lot better as it can go through walls and you dont have to put them in line.

actually you can get this even cheaper at http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/index.html?action=c2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X292ZXJ2aWV3&product_uid=46391
for 19GBP (28 $us)
