.3gp changes to .avi - Esato archive

wen i send a .3gp over the air from my fone to an email address via MMS it changes into an .avi file.
i just wonderd why? and if it would make a diffrence?

the mms to email gateway converts mobile content to computer content. Cool hey! If you want to send an actual 3gp file to an email address you can use the email client on the phone instead of an mms.

I would send it via my fones email but until 'orange' tech department get back to me regarding my email registration (which because i have been an orange customer for many years with the same number) i seem to be unable to register an email account. So i have to use MMS to email.
