don't know of any software that can do that but there are java programs that use your bluetooth to chat eg..'chat2u', 'easy jack' et...u could get them at www.getjar.com i downloaded both but haven't got the chance to try them anyway.

send sms via a Java programm. that's the best solution...i am using Getaboo where u can send sms and e-mails too.

It wouldn't be sending an SMS since SMS is network communication. What you're looking for is a basic BT chat utility. Both users would have to have it which somewhat limits its functionality. SMS are sent over the GSM/GPRS network, when you send one out, your phone contacts a service center (phone #) and transmits your message to the network with the recepient's address(Phone #)

Not what he's describing as his request; the way I understand it he wants to send messages to other nearby phones via bluetooth, such as in a meeting or something of that nature.
