i was looking at usb bluetooth connectors and saw that some have a range of 100m instead of ten do you have to have a speacial phone to use these i have a w800i will it work with that.
Thanks in advance

It will work with w800 as long as you are in the w800's range. The bluetooth adapter might reach up to 100meter but w800 is never going to make that.

It works fine, tho u will probly get an overly strong signal. shouldn't make much difference tho.

nothing wrong with an overly strong signal - just means better reception. The 100's are fully backwards compatible with 10's.

are you saying that there are some bluethoot devices that can handle 100 meters? But is the phone the one that can't support it? I thougt that wifi was the only way to reach such distance

Nope, there are bluetooth 100M devices, but you only get the 100M range if both devices support BT 100M

do you now about any that support 100m, any example?

most dongle manufacturers have 100M versions. I know of no phone's that support 100M.

the guy I bough my BT dongle from said that 100metres is mostly used for bluetooth PAN (personal area network) at home.

not strictly true. when i experimented with distances further than 10m on my phone, my K700i was still working fine. I think i managed to get as far as 35m without the connection breaking up, and that was through a couple of walls.

The best thing when experimenting is to SEND a file thru Bt when u r so far away( 35 meters) rather than looking at the phone and see that's connected. Not entirely correct: u might not be able to send or receive anything.

I tested with both my 100M dongles, neither can transfer files to my phone from more than 10-12 metres. 35 Metres is a fair bit short of 100M.
