Do you have to download it via gprs?

Posted by volvoman
Yes put the link from the web site into your wap browser, and download the software, took about 2mins on my W800i.

You have to install it via GPRS and it's also 'just' an offboard solution, you have to download each route via GPRS which will lead to following costs.

Is there still no onboard solution? K750i/W800 supports big MS, so why is there no onboard solution?

Posted by volvoman
Yeh and the Orange ones, £1 credit, £12 wap, £4 Orange world and 300 texts, not bad for a free sim.

Holy shit.. sWEET! Thanks for this.. this thing looks so sharp on my W800's display. I love it . I have yet to test it with a GPS receiver though. I actually have one.. from my Pocket PC + TomTom days.. I'll have to dig it up and try.

Thanks!

This looks good, but you require a GPRS connection to the internet. In my case my operator charges 0,50€ per 100k and per connection. The application closes it's internet connection after every download/upload. For calculating a road discription, you need a connection for your starting point, one for your endpoint, one for the calculation and if you want a connection to download the map. That't a total of 2€. (Total of only 15-20k)
Is there a way to keep the connection to the internet open on W800i. That way it would only cost me 0.5€ and a extra 0,5€ per 100k extra...

Way to keep connection open?

Use the latest opera mini w/ file browser.
Go to the external menu.
Under the Network settings, Tick the first option ....Shadow mode or something.....

Posted by paternoster
That works when you're in Opera. I wan't my connection kept alive while Nav4all is running. I don't pay for the time I use GPRS but per session! All Belgian Proximus customers must have the same prob!

one option is to conect your w800/k750 to your home internet conection via bluetooth, then download the maps for free

another option would be those guys allow file acess from the app, so that the maps could be stored on the memory stick and acessed from there

i think apps like this will rock on k800 bigger screen...i might buy a gps receiver then

Thanks for posting this, it works fine with my K750i, I never expected I could use GPS navigation on my K750i

found these screenshots on howardforums.com:

looks pretty good in a big screen huh? I bought the holux gpslim236 in the nav4all shop yesterday (only 70 euros!)......can't wait to try it

Posted by ares
i´m also tempted to buy it...its a really nice price!!!

Posted by turt
Yeah, I bought their bluetooth gps receiver last friday and got it yesterday, it works like a treat! It's also the cheapest you can find ANYWHERE, even on eBay they sell it over 100 EUR...

Posted by paternoster
It works great. I tried it with a GPS receiver of a friend. But it to expensive to use because of the GPRS use. Th applications connects and closes the connection several times to calculate the routes. Still searching for a way to keep the GPRS connection alive on W800i.

Posted by ares
how about contacting them for solving the problem, or allowing acessing routes from the memory stick???

Posted by xdavex
Getting a W900 so can't wait to try this out!

Posted by jcbos
I tried it also, and it works perfectly. Routes that normal routeplanning software doesn't show, but exists for several years are just used.
But I have a question, which maybe somebody else already knows the answer for:
I drive a motorbike, and so I am, for the route planning, sticked to the voice instructions, but normally I also listen to the radio on the background to overcome the wind sound. But if I have turned on the radio, the voice of the software is not to be heared (or is switched off). Is there a way to overcome this?

Really good software.
Anyway a little OT question, i installed the jar directly to phone, andit works, but intalling with the jad would be better, because it contains the digitale signs which may be useful for advanced functionality.
However I've noticed that my K750 let me download programs with the jad normally, (opera mini and all I've tried until now) but if the jad contains digital signs, as in the case of nav4all, the phonw say 'downloading failed'.
Have you experienced this problem? Any idea of what can be wrong in my phone? As I said, the problem is present in all jad which contains digital signs.

K750i only supports jar files. jad files wont work on k750i

Are you sure of this? But unsigned jad files works perfectly. And software houses proposes signed jad files for k750 as in the case of nav4all...

k750 DOES support jad files

Hi!

I tried to download to my S-E 802se and also to my Sharp 902 but no success.

I can see that my phones are not listed on their site but is there a way to get this to work on my phones?

I have emailed nav4all.com for advice too!

Thanks for any advice.

Have anyone seen the "instruction movie" on the nav4all site or have another information on using the software?.
On the swedish version it only says "coming soon"....

Posted by pink
i accidentally found out that there's a manual in the software. While standing in a menu-item press #. A manual appears.....

Nice one pink - and welcome to esato!
Anyone else found any hidden gems? An automatic map tracking opion would make this program even better.

Hi if you press zero when in navigation mode you have map tracking.

Posted by shug
Brilliant! Thanks for that. Now all they need to do is build in a search function like "yellow pages" to make this program perfect.

the nav4all guys just told me the next version will have the "always on" gprs feature Cool

i just bought the hollux thing, the price is unbelievebly cheap for such great equipment (normal price is 130 euros!!)

Posted by ares
just received my Holux gps its great, it took only 2 days

i tested it with k750, perfect, with voice instructions and all

better yet, the car charger adapter works conected to usb cables, hence, it can transform the normal k750 usb cable into a car charger

Hi there, Ive got the nav4all software and a k750i phone as well as an iter ps-3100 gps reciever

each works fine on their own, but the nav4all software does not seem to work with the reciever at the moment.

it initially detects the gps, and then comes up with an error message when trying to pair, saying its not a gps device.
ive tried pairing the device, thats fine, and ive also hidden/unhidden the phone and turned powersave on/off.

does anyone have any ideas as to the problem?

Thanks in advance,
David

I use to download it directly to my memory stick from a computer and to install it from there on my k750i. Anyway, when you start it for the first time is asking to download some more files (helps, voice navigation) so you will need anyway more downloads. And that besides the GPRS use for navigation. Here are the direct links for both .jad & .jar:

Nav4All.jad
Nav4All.jar

I installed them both. The application is signed by verysign (IIRC) and you can set almost all the permission to "Never Ask". It doesn't make a lot of GPRS traffic and I think that it's about 30-50 KB for 1 hour of use (with maps downloaded). Without maps will be even lower, bellow 10 KB. In Finland with my phone company that will be somewhere around 5 cents/hour (I am paying about 1.2 € for 1 M of traffic). One feature I am missing in it is the tracking & tracing... the menu for this feature is saying "Comming soon" maybe! The feature was scheduled for release in March 2006, 3 months ago. But for this I am using a VERY good free alternative odGPS (page in german). HINT: try the google translation tool here odGPS.

But, there I found another GPS navigation system which allows you to download your own maps GPSWatch. But you will have to pay for the software (20 USD for Pro and 30 USD for Premium versions). The premium version comes also with a computer software that allows you to download maps from popular map web sites and prepare them for your phone. Anyway, I did not payed yet the money for it, so if anyone else is using it I will be glad to get some more info.
