i have 2 houses myself next to each other and i share the internet between them. im moving the broadband having computer in my first house to another room in the house (making the connection further apart). because i have moved it, i can no longer get a signal on the other side. is there anything i can buy like a range extender to gain a signal ? been looking through google for an hour.
SEE PICS BELOW
im using;
802.11B wireless router (belkin)
802.11B usb wireless network adapter (belkin)
telewest broadband (cable modem)

lol, to be honnest I don't think you can get any extenders as basically you need to increase power, the onyl way to do this that I know of is a - bigger aerial on either, or 2 increase poer into trannsmitting device

there are extenders.
check netgear for more info.
your best bet might be to get a MIMO Router.

One of these should do the trick:

thanks to all of you.
cyco, is that the cheapest ? ive seen a couple others but bad reviews

Probably not the cheapest, but that's the sort of price you should be looking to pay. Avoid any of those 'boosters' that you get for around £10, they're not very good at all.

cheers, will probably buy that 1 you suggested

my little bro got a nintendo DS and i bought him that DS WIFI USB Network Adapter so he can get online.

I have a laptop cumin on friday and i want internet on it.
my q is could i get a similar usb stick thing so that the laptop can access the net?
will buy the signal bouncy thing in like a few months but just need a USB Thing temporarly
SEE PIC. CHEERRRRRRRRRRS

Yup, you could get a wireless USB adapter like this:
http://www.nickknows.com/brow[....]144&desc=Wireless-USB-Adapters
or a PCMCIA wireless card like this:
http://www.nickknows.com/brow[....]esc=Wireless-Notebook-Adapters
Or, if you want to be REALLY posh, you could buy a laptop with wireless built-in
Posted by brownlad007
LoL. The infamous DELL laptop that i bought already has the wifi in built.
i need the usb thing for the computer upstairs for it to connect to the internet.
It will not be able to reach the router in my 1st house.
A usb thing for the computer not laptop

as a long term solution-you want to consider a Pre "G'router as there range and dead space penetration is far greater than "A. or "B'. you can pick one up from about £80 but will be worth it since it will save you replacing all your other gear!

just need something for the short term. any idea ? cyco ? anyone ? :s
Posted by Cycovision
Well, short term you should be OK with what you've already decided: A wireless repeater and a USB dongle for whatever devices you need to hook up to the network and Internet should work fine

what should i buy for the computer so it can feed the connection along to the laptop ?

cycoooo

"If you have other WiFi-enabled devices capable of using the internet, such as laptops or PDAs, you can take them online with WiFi MAX too. It's the ultimate device for internet surfing without a WiFi router!"
ahhhhh

Errrm....
I've never seen one of those before! I don't see why it wouldn't work with your laptop though so at that price, it must be worth a go!
Posted by brownlad007
yea. was thinking if the nintendo usb thing lets the ds connect this should let my laptop connect also, ill let you know how it goes

To buy the Mac i will need this 2 happen (below)
