bird flu...it's spreading over continents. the chicken brigade has toppled the al-qaeda from news headlines world over.

have you stopped eating chicken? does this new god forsaken disease make you think? more importantly has bird flu reached ur shores? do you think ur government is doing enough? will cooking the chicken well make the bird flu virus in the chicken immune towards us humans? r v gradually approaching judgement day?

Makes me think \"were all gona die\"!

Well not really....can't say im afraid of it,if its come and is already here then we can only hope the govt can do something in time.

seems like there is one disaster after another, maybe we are near the end times, who knows? ...But all the signs seem to suggest it: WAR,FAMINE,NATURAL DISASTERS GALORE,EVIL RULERS (Bush).

People will proberbly blame bird flu on Osama and Muslim extremists aswell.....

Just like blaming AIDS on the U.S. ??

Well, it's not bothering me. If you listened to every single health scare out there you'd eat nothing. They're probably blowing it out of proportion, and using scare tactics looking at the worse-case scenario.

People in the UK - do you remember last Autumn the media saying this winter was going to be one of the worst and coldest on record, power cuts frequently, disruption to travel via blocked roads and rail cancellations..... If anything, it's been quite a warm winter!

Point is, there seems to be a lot of scare mongering going on. I don't know if it's the media sensationalising and exaggerating things, or the government scare mongering to get us to toe the line (or both), I'd say don't worry, ignore all the crap that's been said, and get those Chicken Nuggets down you!

ha ha very funny!

not blaming them,i know they are responsible!

they proberbly had something to do with bird flu aswell.

Yeah i read the AIDS article it does seem plausible, to be fair

But i'm not too sure about this one, as regards to "terror". Terror has become overused and misplaced, anything of slight concern these days is branded as being something to do with "terror". As to where it came from, well, if you feed a chicken the mushed-up brains of its brethren, mixed in with shavings of pigs trotters, do you really think there will be no side-effects? Its definately man-made, though not intentionally, as some conspiracy nuts seem to be suggesting.

all these things are called moral pannics, they are made by the media for 2 reasons - they have noting interesting to report and 2 - to raise awareness and debate

i agree, chickens r fed practically anything. health of the chicken & poultry farm hygiene is the owner's responsibility which is taken for granted. birdflu is a result of human negligence.
terror...isn't this widespreading disease terrifying? you can keep track of the planes in the sky but can you put a check on the migrating birds.
@sammy, poultry farm workers have died due to this disease, it's getting kinda serious u know.

natures way of population control, last time I saw the death figures it was only 7 humans.... now im not saying its harmless, but asuming the world population is estimated to be 6581164443 (figures taken from http://www.ibiblio.org/lunarbin/worldpop) I think the average esato user has about the same chance as winning the euro lottery 8 times over all in a row rather then getting bird flue

IF the Government are serious about stopping the spread of bird flu, I suggest they slap a ban on David Coulthard entering the country. We are told the bug is only a threat to those in "close contact with a number of birds" or "handle birds" on a regular basis. Judging by the latest photos of the F1 driver and a French species known as "La Tottie", David is guilty on both counts.

even aids was taken this lightly at 1st.

Apparently if you cook an infected bird properly the virus would have been killed off when you go to eat it, so i'm not that bothered

i miss the juicy drumsticks at kfc.

Meh bird flu, I'm not particularly worried about it against humans, we'll survive it or not. Kinda worrying for alot of our endangered birds down here though, but it hasn't hit here so fingers crossed.

bird flu isn't an epidemic in the middle east.

then again food is carefully selected

@meths - What's this news about David Coulthard I am not aware of this pal . . . Thanks!

it's not arrived on the u.a.e. shores so far. all the falcons in dubai r going through a bird flu check up. none have been infected yet.

common bird flu symptoms:

sore throat
runny nose
fever
headache
aching joints
the irresistable urge to crap on car windscreens

Posted by Gigs
@amnesia: its not an epidemic here either in the pacific either

@gelfen: Bugger me it sounds like I have bird flu from those symptoms!
