Do you want 3G? If you do then your only option is the Z800i. If you dont want 3G then the V3i is alot smaller.

V3 doenst have much memory, if your considering mp3 ringtones and taking pictures.
check this comparison guide below...

What do you prefer, a thin or a fat phone
If thin, the V3i
If Fat, then the V800

the Z800i will offer you more fun.

actually the V3i has more built in memory than the Z800 as it has 12mb vs 6mb however both can be expanded using transflash (in the V3i) or memory stick (in the Z800)
jcwhite_uk summed up pretty much what I was thinking
Posted by JANLARI
Which play mp3 better? i mean good quality sound.. and picture quatity? i think both have 1.3mp
Posted by bart
when it comes mp-3 the Z800 wins definetly.
cam quality i don't know
Posted by masseur
The V3i has a fairly good music player.
I have heard some variants of V3i also have itunes though I cannot confirm that.
strangely, although my L7 SLVR appears to have the same music player as the V3i, when connected to my pc it starts up the itunes software on my pc, but my V3i doesn't
edit: I never tried mp3 on Z800 so cannot comment. The V3 always had a great camera, although VGA, and the V3i improves on that. I have a thread somewhere showing some examples from V3i

how about the sound quality? does v3i have the equalizer like the v8
Posted by jcwhite_uk
The photos that I took with my V800 (same as Z800i) came out quite well. The Z800i has a light as well but I dont think the V3i does (not sure about it though).
The MP3 player on the Z800i is pretty good as well but I have never used the V3i player.
Posted by masseur
I think the sound quality in the V3i is ok though I would like a radio in there too
don't forget that the V3i has airplane mode which the Z800 doesn't
Posted by bart
the V3i is quite limited in features, so an airplaine mode won't be used alot. maby only to input the number of the nice stewardess.
a Z800i will offer more.
but you can install java apps on both phones
Posted by masseur
I have to say I am scratching my head trying to remember what features (apart from 3G) the Z800 has that the V3i doesn't?
so it might be worth you mentioning here to help in the comparison
Posted by bart
music dj, double flash light, bigger exteranl screen, picture editor, irda, more poly tones and the amount of external memory isn't limited to 512MB
Posted by masseur
hmmm, yes those are differences though
I've never used music DJ and I wonder if even 10% of Sony Ericsson users have?
The flashlight is a good feature but I guess tough to fit on a slim phone
I tend only to glance at the external screen to see who is calling or check the time, but is it really that much bigger on the Z800? in pixels the Z800 is 101x80 whereas the V3i is 96x80
I wonder how many people edit pictures on the phone too?
I guess V3i is currently limited to 512mb because the 1gb transflash are only just becoming available and thats the price that consumers are paying for companies who choose to use the newer smaller memory formats. We'll see the same problem in the latest Sony Ericssons too since large capacity M2 memory sticks wont immediately be available.
going back to the previous point, you said "the V3i is quite limited in features, so an airplaine mode won't be used alot" but really most people who be listening to music or watching a video clip so I guess the only one of those that would be slightly a hinderance to using flight mode is the current memory sizes available
I think I'd still choose the V3i over the Z800
Posted by ayk
if the browser of the v3i is the same as the v3 then i would opt for the z800.
btw, music dj is a useless feature imo.
Posted by bart
i don't use musicdj aswell but i know somepeople like it.
what about the UI? i know moto has improved alot over the years, but SE's UI is still better.
and how's the battery performence of the V3i?
Posted by masseur
the V3 and V3i browsers do seem to be much the same but I use Opera mini anyway and would probably recommend that for most mobiles these days (except for the windows mobile devices which have the excellent "internet explorer mobile" as it is now called)
People do complain about the Motorola UI but I have never understood why. To me it seems to be alot more configurable and personalisable and also there are more settings and tweaks in many of the functions available
Can't say much about the battery of the V3i as I tend to just plonk my phones on chargers at night when I get home
Posted by ayk
yeah,u can completely personalise the menu of the motos which none of the se phones allow.
i guess some1 had asked 'bout the equalizer, does the mp3 player of the v3i have 1?

I managed to persuade my sister to get the Motorola V3i (she was going to get the Nokia 7370!!!).
Luckily she came to her senses! (plus the Nokia cost more and had less features), now she's glad she listened. The V3i is sooooo flash!!! I'm jealous of her- though im quite happy with my k750i, cough! The keypad isn't bad at all like most fear- it's just the dummy V3's and V3i's which give you a bad impression of the keypad, it's actually real nice to type on.
But on the other hand- Sony Ericsson rulz!

Again, it depends on whether you want 3G (V3i isnt 3G) and cheaper memory (memory sticks for Z800i are cheaper than V3i memory).

I bought a V3i and returned it the next day. Sure it looks good but "stupid" limitations like a 50 song limit in iTunes is, IMO, unacceptable.
Don't know about versions available in other countries but the ones selling in India have a 50 song limit in iTunes.

Versions in the UK don't suffer from this (as they don't have iTunes capabilities), or at least my sisters doesn't. Her's is on O2- i'm guessin all v3i's in the UK don't support iTunes (correct me if i'm wrong).

what about the SO905I?

That's because of the mere fact that SE phones were really lovely even a die hard moto, samsung or nokia user would find it nice(unless they are not fanboys
here's the deal breaker upon the:
V3i - it's so common that you'll see it in any place you would been
Z800 - you'll only hate the fact that it uses the old JP-4 platform the interface platform is between K700 and K750. but it's understandable since it's been merely 4 years since it was born!

Since you wont get much features or functionality from either of them, I'd get a V3i simply because it looks much much better than the weird looking Z800.

2 years had past . . I wonder what the author of this thread had purchased

Motorola launched new mobile MOTOYUVA in India
Here is yet another phone under the MOTOYUVA series. Motorola has rolled out its latest mobile phones india, dubbed MOTOYUVA W270 in the Indian market. This slim flip phone lets consumers dance on their music with the built-in MP3 player along with other music functions such as a dedicated MP3 and FM keys.
Shall I buy or not? I am confused. Please let me your know all views on this.
Thanks in Advance.
