You can check it from the phone. The number printed on the back of the headset is the hardware revision, not the firmware. Here's how to check the firmware:

With the headset connected to the phone, go to the menu>settings>connectivity>accessories>then select the DS970

My firmware is R2B and hardware is R2A

How to check the firmware of HBH-DS970 thru P990?
I think the above steps are for non symbian phone.
Thanks.

My headset decided to freeze on me today during a phone call.

The display lights is permanently on now and the buttons won't respond. I've tried the reset method in the manual, but nothing happens. No beeps or anything.

Anyone had this problem?

Also, I'm also suspicious that my unit is not an original. Is there anyway I can tell?

Been using mine for 2 weeks now. Am a happy puppy.

Yet, I do agree about the battery meter, very bad indicator, after 75% all of a sudden it drops like rock. You'd think SE would have better engineers for something so basic.

Be carefull with fake version of the sonyericsson HBH-DS970.
Check this: http://213.19.178.16/se
and judge for yourself...

My headset crashes every time I get an incoming call whilst listening to music. It doesn't respond like you describe. The only way to reset it is to plug the charger in. This makes the device total rubbish to me. i plan on sending it to se to have them upgrade the firmware.

sorry if this has already been asked.. but is it compatible with the k790?

Posted by masseur
yes

is it possible to get original one from hongkong ebay sellers ?

Posted by frakker
Of course it's possible to get one from Hong Kong eBay sellers... they most likely won't be genuine though. There's another thread on Esato which goes into some depth on the numerous fakes on there. Have a look at: http://213.19.178.16/se/

Are the hbh-ds970 earphones part, the Sennheiser CX 300?
Check out picture and site:

http://www.sennheiserusa.com/[....]oductdetail.asp?transid=500830

They look quite identical and their quality is pretty much the same high-standard also!

Hi

After I upgraded the firmware on my k610i i lost the call conection to my HBH-DS970. I can still listen to music, but I can not connect to it with a vocie call.
When a call is running and I try to transfer the sound over to the head phones I get Connection failure.

Anyone have had same problems?

Cheers
/A

Posted by decay_zeit
would somebody please help me connecting my ds970 to my pc???
i use a billionton bluetooth dongle with BlueSoleil...the device is paired with the pc and all functions work, but the sound is very slow,so laggy...what is the problem?thanks in advance...

edit : headset service works fine,i mean the mic works well and i can hear voices clear(for example voice chat)...but the problem is with Bluetooth AV service which provides wireless music,so laggy...is this have something with audio bitrate and music quality???or my bluetooth dongle strength?
umm, there is a configuration menu under Bluetooth AV Service, includes : please select codec priority : SBC or MP3,which one should i choose??

wish there was a way to upgrade the firmware on these things yourself....mine won't connect to my n95.. it'll pair but not connect

Posted by mariwun
to change the stack google it,they are step by step instructions.yes the new stacvk would stil work with your present dongle.although the new stack comes with its own software so it wouldnt use the bluesoul one.
i changes my microsoft stack to the widcomm one and everything works fine on my laptop.

This might be a silly question but i take it you can't use the radio via this?

Posted by Nanu
no mate!
unless you plugged the headphone lead in and transferred the sound to the ds970! but that would defeat the object?

Can confirm that plugging the headphone lead into the phone and transferring the sound to the ds970 works as i am now listening to "bali-hi" on BBC r2!!

has anyone else had this problem with their HBH DS970:

if you change tracks the device sometimes gets confused and then locks and you cannot turn the thing off no matter what you do, I have to wait till the batterey is flat to be able to do a full reset?

I really really hate mine at present

Posted by ares

Hi ares,
I cant even do that the damn thing just will not respond to any inputs till it has run out of battery! last time it was flat I did that and it started working again I have a horrible feeling it might just be a fake I bought it against my better judgement from ebay so I am going to see about returning it to the seller and will buy another from a reputable source.

Have you ever tried using it with TomTom or similar I would love to know if it will send the voice directions.

Thanks for the tip

Do you have any further info on SMAN I offered Ajack some development funds via Pay Pal but he he declined at the moment as he cannot accept money that way, I get the feeling that is going to be a geat product the last version transformed my P900 and P910.

I do hope you are correct about the P990 sucessor I am not sure where the P1 sits I cant see many M600 users taking up the P1 because of the camera in business environments and whilst it looks good and sounds like the build quality is better than we have been used to I just cant see where it is aimed, its a bit of an orphan!

Hi, I' ve just today received my SE BT HBH-DS970....My only other disapointment with the headset was that it

didnt display the track name as it says on the box. Doesnt do what it says on the tin!! Maybe this is a W950

only function, to keep interest. Anyway, in my opinion, a superb headset, a little overpriced but maybe this'll

come down. I would recommend..........

its also displays the name of contacts when recieving and dialing and the name of the songs which it currently

plays with my w880i but it didnt with my k610[didnt display name of song..bu did display the contact](maybe

i hadnt setup it up right at that time *rolls eyes*

i don't know if my problem is exactly same as yours, but it sounds it is...
i've been using my ds970 for about 4 months without problems,i'm nearly sure of it to be geniune...

yesterday when i was driving i had an incoming call, but the call button on ds970 didn't seem to work and answer the call, finally i answered by hitting the answer key on the phone...

at first glance it seems that the device is working properly, music and calls are streamed to the device, but keys on the device wont work, pressing play/pause button, volume up and down, call button,forward/rewind don't work....pressing any key only turns the screen on,but doesn't perform the action...

needless to say that even power button doesn't work and i cannot turn the device off....i'm wating for the battery to be drained out now,and then see what happens after recharging and turning it on again, hope it'll be fixed...

anyone tried "changing" (cutting the wires and stuff )the earphones with hpm-70 ones?
the earphones from ds970 have no bass

The plastic in my neckstrap have crawled out of the fabric in the middle of the back. Have this happened to anyone else?
