Outstanding audio without wires
13 February 2006

3GSM World Congress, Barcelona (February 13, 2006)

Sony Ericsson today announced a new music accessory, the Stereo Bluetooth™ Headset HBH-DS970. Designed for an outstanding wireless audio experience, the headset delivers crystal clear digital sound with full call handling.

Stereo Bluetooth™ Headset HBH-DS970 – Streaming Music in Stereo

The Stereo Bluetooth™ Headset HBH-DS970 connects wirelessly to a mobile phone, streaming digital music in full, rich sound via Bluetooth™ 2.0. It provides high-performance audio in a lightweight wireless headphone design. Comfortable, ergonomic and exchangeable ear buds further enhance the quality of bringing music to the ears.

“This high quality headset delivers really outstanding sound,” says Ulf Persson, Corporate Vice President Accessories. “We have put top priority on the user’s audio experience. Excellent sound quality and a simple attractively designed wearing solution make this headset perfect for music and voice wherever the user is.”

With the HBH-DS970, the user can listen to more music with less chance of missing a call. The multipoint function enables users to listen to the music files from a computer, PDA or other Bluetooth™ devices while remaining connected to their mobile phone, staying available for every call. Using the intuitive display hanging lightly around the neck, the phone can stay in the pocket while the user handles calls, chooses music or adjusts the volume.

And if that phone is the new Sony Ericsson W950, using the Stereo Bluetooth™ Headset can put the user at the very center of the mobile digital music revolution. Also launched today, the W950 is the latest addition to the range of ultra-stylish Walkman® music mobile phones. With an enormous 4GB storage capacity, it is the perfect companion phone for the Stereo Bluetooth™ Headset.

With the HBH-DS970 the user can enjoy wireless simplicity without sacrificing high-performance sound, deciding exactly what to listen to and when to take a call. Available from Q2 2006.

That is Upsetting.

@peter - Thanks for putting the list ON mate, so that potential buyers of this gadget will be fully aware first if it will work on their fones . . .

No probs JN

That is dream come true for me. It is the perfect design. I've known about this since they mentioned it at the smartphone back in october, just didn't know what it would look like. This will be my 1st accessory to buy with my P990 along with perhaps a 8 or likely a 4Gb pro duo. Shame about the orange & black Walkman design, doesn't really go with P990 does it? Then again it is aimed at W950 users

I wonder how much will ththing cost As if it's a combination of an HPR Radio and a BT Headset

Does the HPM-80's digital display on the cord work with phones like the K750i ?

Im not really bothered about getting one, just wondering.

Thats the only thing that does worry me about this new headset - if they earphones break, you'll need an entire new headset including the expensive Bluetooth part.

stakes are high ei?! darn expensive BTs

Posted by crazyeighty8
sounds a rip-off. BT stereo headset should be capable of streaming music from all SE walkman phones at least. Is my w900i out of date allready?.

Posted by etaab
No, SE simply missed the boat this time around regarding your phone.

My sister's HPM-80 (from her W900 package) doesn't work on my W800. It gives out an error.

Posted by etaab
Thats a shame, its probably because of the radio being in the headset cord.

Absolutely right! Just because the phones never had the necessary profiles to stream out music, this should obviously be fixed in a new headset! Come on just what are you thinking

The headset looks great, if the headphones are mounted though then that will kinda suck but we hven't seen the mic pod as yet so there's still hope. Also reminds me of the HBH-200 which was one of my fave headsets

I think SE should include the a2dp profile on the W810i so this headset is compatible. We should start sending emails to SE requiring this profile on the W810i. Maybe that will get their attention and stop them from making a big mistake.

Also is can this profile be added with a firmware upgrade? or does it need extra hardware?

Posted by s14dude
wow, that is some hot headphones....

Posted by Liam
I have a hp rx3715 that out of the box does not support A2DP but it does now after a software update to the bluetooth stack, is it possible to do this with a mobile phone therefore retrospectivally adding A2DP support to the K750i and W800i?

Posted by ares
Yes, as long SE wants to do it...

Posted by Liam
Well if they've said that the product is supported then is that an indication that they might, after all what would be the point of saying a product is supported if it is only partially so.

Posted by SONY-E FREAK
Does anyone know how to charge it with the old connector or the new one??

Posted by SonyW810i
Everybody email SE requesting a firmware with a2dp. I want to be able to use those hot new bluetooth SE headphones. Don't you

We all have to join together to get them to change their minds.

Because its supported as far as using it as a headset, the same as different makes of phone can use an HCB-700 carkit, or a p series can use an HBH-200, not all functionality may be supported.

Does it make it right? Well maybe not but thats the way it is :/

Posted by crazyeighty8
Do Nokia or Samsung Phones support a2dp?. is it possible to have a host of a2dp enabled devices such as stereo's and T.V.'s?.

Posted by Chrille88
Does it work with the intgrate FM-radio?
