CloneDVD Mobile has just been released (note! 21 day trial not freeware) and it encodes from DVD straight to SE K750i (also iPod and others)
Just posting it in case anyone wants to try it out.
It's only single pass at the moment (not been released long) so if you are going to compare it (and please do) compare with other single pass software.
It uses FFMPEG as the engine.

just tested and nowhere near Nero Recode in quality or usability.
Only conversion of DVD, not conversion of individual files, Recode imports everything.
No Manual cropping or resizing, only the default setting which doesnt optimise to the screen. Recode gives full controll
No manual setting of neither video nor audiobitrates, only default, Recode gives full controll.
Recode alone gives so much more, so many more possibilities, and considering CloneDVD mobile is $39 and the full Nero 7 premium package including Recode and lots and lots of other utilities for burning, editing and creating dvd's etc, is only $60 I really see no reason to get CloneDVD mobile.
