There is really no matter of warranty, you dont loose anything if you just flash your phone with the latest firmware only,Im not talking about debranding-of course there is an issue of warranty.
Posted by BobaFett
warranty is only for generic fw, wotanserver isnt a generic one, in case of any bug later se will say, that it was caused cos of it

All SE phones are covered with 2 years warranty, branded & unbranded, the fact of having updated a phone with Wotan isnt tracable,so once again I say there is NO ISSUE AT ALL !
Posted by BobaFett
i was told something else at se, nokia and motorola services... i highly doubt, that for example a v630 falshed with generic fw ( k610 )is still under warranty.

I have a W810i unbranded sim free in mint condition. Its a great phone with great features but i prefer nokia phones. If anyone wants buy please pm me. I will not send overseas. United states only. All accessories and box included.

I did update a K610(R1BC001) to K610(R1ED001),this is very simple to be understood and I did not update a V630 to K610 or whatever,of course in this case every SE service point would make any warranty invoid, but with a plain FIRMWARE UPDATE USING THE SAME FIRMWARE'S NEW VERSION FROM WOTANSERVER everything stays as is.Finally if you dont want to understand this then Im sorry a lot,but its really simple........
Posted by BobaFett
1. i didnt wrote that u updated v630 to k610 ( it ws an example )
2. wotanserver, davinci etc dont offer generic fw
trust me, give a call to se, nokia whoever and ask them, if u buy a fone and flash it a non-generic fw, do u have still warranty or not?

1.I know it was an example.
2.R1ED001 is generic fw for my region_MEDITERR and is from Wotanserver.
I think you should tune in my frequenzy, really, otherwise you ain gonna catch the waves..........GENERIC R1ED001 FIRMWARE FROM WOTANSERVER.....
Posted by BobaFett
just for secure i called my service friend, he told me, that even it seems to be a generic one, its not the "original" one and in the service, they can recognize, if it was flashed via seus or any other server, so at the end of the day, the warranty is over. operators, just like insurance companies, are very precise at checking the bug ( actually the starter of the bug )before they are willing to offer a replacement or give money back, so they just have to say, look, u flashed it on your own, not with seus, sorry... so the best way is to use seus to avoit any tiny problem later on.
ps: we shouldnt go more off topic here

Having put it this way conclusively I agree with you,SEUS is surely better to flash SE phones but I got anxious and this is why I did use Wotan for my K610,in any case I will reflash it with SEUS once it appears(hopefully soon)and that leads us to the end of offtopics in this thread.

how do u like that joypad solution? imo its one of the best idea se ever had.
Posted by y@m0t!
Does SE have these fw's available on their site? By the way, to Bob... I tried charging by batt while the phone is off and the keypad backlight did not blink.. are you a reseller of these fones? I just thought you mentioned once that you have 'one' which's having this bug. If I cannot have the latest fw from WOT, is there a way that I can flash my fw with the original one? Where can I get it?

@ BobaFett
With regards to the joypad layout of the K610i, i think it's a little on the small side. I'm finding that my thumb goes all over it!
Posted by BobaFett
i still have that k610, i am not reseller, just a mobile freak. i upgrade my fones in the service usually. i do prefer the joypad over any se joys, but indeed, a bit bigger one could be more comforteable

the whole joystick thing amazes me. i hear about so many people with the urban myth of the dodgy se joysticks, yet in my store se outsells all other manfacturers and i have very rarely seen one comeback because of a faulty joystick. up untill recently, i too have not had issue with a se joystick untill 3 weeks ago my k800i joystick would not go down for me (no sniggering please). i have put this down to the fact that i downloaded sonic and played the hell out of it. orange have since exchanged the handset.

a joy wouldnt fit k610 imo, the pad was the best solution for that design

oh yeah, without a doubt. i'm surprised that no manufacturer has used the ibm thinkpad style 'nipple'. it might add a bit to cost, but takes up very little room!

the metallic sheet is very elegant.

i have to say that all round, the k610i is probably the most elegant phone on the market at the moment.
Posted by BobaFett
not bad design indeed, far better then k8 imo. its interesting, the k 3g serie has got the led, no other models

Ive had the Nokia 6280 which has a d-pad too, bigger of course but on the K610 its analogic to whole size a bit smaller with no problems at all, executes fast and feels-looks really great, specially the blueish backlight.I had the K800 for a month, was messed up with the joystick,I discovered in its service menu that when testing it went to all eight(8??!!!!???!!) directions.I will never again look at a SE joystick thats for sure.
Posted by BobaFett
i do noticed the 8 direction in other models aswell, funny.

I agree, bud, and it will only become apparent when you turn on the phone and start using it. After seeing the concise and delightful user interface, you start noticing that the built is consistent w/ the overall personality of the phone. Understated rather than underpowered.
I gladly noticed that the back (camera side) of the phone doesn't attract attention at all, as SE intended. Though the front did get a lot of looks when i turned it on at night, with the radiation-like glow of the blue backlight and the bright screen, w/ streaming TV on full-screen mode via (free) 3G!
Talking about the screen, the few mm improvement over older K/W series really makes a lot of difference. It seems much bigger; sometimes, paper specs fail to convey the beauty of the real thing.
K610i has made me remember the reason why I became loyal to SE/Ericsson: It's the opposite of false advertising -- finding hidden functions, little surprises here and there. In the K610i's case, it's the beauty beneath the simple casing.

Slim, lightweight, and those 4 backlight bulbs surrounding the center button of the d-pad - beautiful in the dark! I also don't miss the FM radio because i sometimes want to listen to AM too anyway, and a separate pocketable AM/FM does the job. As a stored music player, K610 actually sounds good. We plugged in a pair of HPM-70 and it was clear and had plenty bass even at normal equalizer setting.

is the k610mi already out?

Not just yet, but soon I think it will. Its basically the same phone with a different imode browser I'd say, looks nice too.

wish k610i would have been released in black aswell. anybody with a white one? not branded of course

I think it's not available in the market yet (even not branded).. silver is fine for me.. making it unique from other SE models.

the backlight on the red one is better imo

I agree the white backlit on the red one looks gorgeous! I'm thinking about exchanging the LEDs in mine...

@Boba:
of course - I'll do that after the warranty is over, that's in 5 months. But maybe I have a Z610 then ...
Posted by BobaFett
actually the blue do fits the grey cover ( just as in k600 ), but its really crap as keypad backlight.

red will be most preferred by ladies.. i think.
Posted by dcbastable
The i-Mode version seems to come in a very boring black. Doesn't look as good as the graphite or the red one.

i like the black one. what keypad colour does it have?
