Hi!
A java-program that records the radio.
Does this exist ?

Mmm no...

nope...at least not yet
Posted by batesie
sounds like an excellent idea!
Posted by petergent
yes indeed, i've been searching the sony development sites, but didn't find anything useful.
Well maybe i didn't look that good, but i know some java and i would be happy and willing to help further development on this subject!

many mobiles already have a voice recorder and/or record phone calls, it would be nice if it is possible...
Posted by RTOX
it is possible, but the best you could get is that it would record in ARM and the quality would be like thw one when you record phone calls.

I remember hearing that some Firmwares of the K700 could record the radio in AMR. Does Java have access to the radio??
Posted by RTOX
londonlad123, yes, JAVA can access radio and can record it and then save it on filesystem as a AMR file.

I did find an amaging radio app for pocket pc, called Resco Radio..which allows you to record the radio feed...the quality is also quite good...something like this for a java phone would be niiiice!!d

yeah SE shoudl seriously consider adding this program!
Posted by londonlad123
They've added it in the P990. As for the rest I think they've removed the radio:capture command in k750/w800 but it may be in the w600, w900 and w810 because they use java 6.

I was trying to make radio recorder, but,
yeah, it looks like K750i/W800 does not support capture://radio command and which makes it imposible to make a radio recording for them

perhaps then someone can rip it from a P990?

u mean if it is in java format?

You could record radio direct to your PC via line in on your soundcard if you have the handsfree with the 3.5 mm output.

K800 can record radio!! But the built in feature only does it for 5 sec so that it can be sent to some Shazam type music naming service. A java app to record more will need to be developed but at the moment its still in AMR format afaik.

???
record radio for only 5 secs???

yeah, so that you can send it to a company that will tell you the name of the song. They only need 5 seconds worth to compare it against their song database

But i guess radio recording software will be really possible with k800, and also java mp3 players...coool
Posted by baste07
oooowwwww that's sad... it would have been a really great feature have it been possible

Yes, this is good news.
Posted by baste07
is there no hope that a radio recorder will emerge for the k750?
Posted by Constantin
Is all work abandoned on radio recording tools with the k750 SE ????
Posted by goldenface
Doesn't the TrackID application in
models record from the radio. Could that application not be adapted?
Posted by Aware
Hmmm......easier to write a Java app, than to try to dissassemble firmware(to extract TrackID) - if we could do that, K800 could have Walkman2.0, etc....
Note: The Windows PPC I received recently can record radio(no time limit)....it also records answermachine messages for you(saves loads on voicemail charges):

Would love to see it in more SE phones tho!
