The WX310J is a new business phone with finger print recognition security they havent even included a camera. There is a miniSD card slot, few other details are available on the handset at this time other than the e-mail capabilities and 0.65-inch thickness. It is available now in Japan for about $220 (£110).

???

yeh i did'nt quite get that either....
batesie the car symbol may just represent the in-car mode dock mode...but thats just a wild guess.

The car image is common on Japanese phones, kinda like our profiles we have in our outdoor etc, this just tells the person that rings " I am driving right now and can not take your call...etc etc" It doesnt let your phone ring or anything, kinda like a quick divert.

no the little picture of a car printed on the phone (bottom right), and its not really close to a key either. maybe it lights up.

see i thought that it have been for the port on the underside but seeing from this pic its not.

Trust me it is, Japanese phones get pretty cramped with stuff so they need to find alternative options to place it. I have seen quite a few phones like that in Japan nothing special.

I never noticed that on the premini before...still don't understand the significance of the symbol though?

well, I hope they have improved the finger print recognition over that which I had in an iPAQ a couple of years ago. Even though I recorded my finger print, only 50% of the time would it recognise it whereas with my fingerprint stored, it would 100% recognise my wife and both my kids!

Someone has a dodgy finger there hey... I wonder what you been doing with it?.

I'd still like to see this technology in
phone at some point!

I never want fingerprint recognition on my SE phone, i see it as a tacky "point of sale" gimmick.
Software is always going to be available to get round it in the hands of a thief & we already have input locks available which i think most people find to much hasle to use anyway.
I see too many people leaving their phones on display in pubs ETC, presumably so others can admire, far better in the pocket i say.
Top tip, use input lock with girlfriend/partner about, they are notorious for snooping,
ALL OF EM !!

Fingerprint recognition isn't actually that secure at all, basically anyone with a few bits and pieces which you can find around the house can hack into \"ANY\" such types of entry system and i mean ANY,thats how easy these are to break into.but thats not the point although thieves will always find a way to hack into almost anything this is a better option as a phone lock rather than PIN entry i think.

Well, i remember leaving my phone at home when i rushed to see my mate in hospital, came out the hospital to use my phone (as you have to) realised it was at home, was able to phone home using a pay phone & get a family member to get a number from my phonebook on my mobile, an input code can be told to someone, but i wouldnt have been able to describe my fingerprint to them would i
