Hi.

I wanted to ask you if you found some app that will allow you to convert MP3 to AAC and copy it DIRECTLY to the phone (a lá Disc2Phone).

I've tried DBPowerAmp, but I need something that will arrange the "Artist/Album" structure the w800 need for files.

Thanks in advance.

forgive me for being dumb... but are AAC small in size compared to MP3? how bout the quality? why would you convert them since w800 can read mp3.

use itunes to convert it to ACC if u want. ACC is smaller than mp3 but the quality is bout the same.

ill try doing this... thanx mates! aargghh!

*still drooling about the w810i*

Hi Dan,

iTunesMyPortable will do that for you. You can find out more about it here:

also itunes mass storage synchroniser, and disc2phone now does aac! (apparently - but check first!)

does the new disc2phone convert them to aac? I thought it just handles them now ie recognises and transfers

@max:

I download (the week before) the new version of Disc2Phone. I didn't notice any changes; plus, the files get copied to a NEW folder in the phone called "Music"; instead of the MP3 folder...

Will ITunes convert, copy and arrange the files in the "MP3//" st4ucture? Cause that's all I care about... I know how to convert MP3 to any format; that is not the problem!

itunes has the organise music folders option - which creates \album\artistname\songname.m4a in the itunes music folder. You then can just drag and drop the contents into the mp3 folder.

btw, my understanding (but I haven't tested) is that the w800 would read the music folder as well as the mp3 folder. I am just assuming this, since disc2phone has been modified to use \music, then surely W800 mediaplayer will be able to read it. It was mentioned in a thread that the newest version of the disc2phone supports aac (presumably can rip aac) did you find that to be true?

Yes... I knew that the Music folder was also read by the phone but, as obssesive compulsive as I am, you know that when you format the card via the phone, the MP3 folder is created... well, that just poses as an "incongruence" in my mind, cause the phone is 'prepared' for the MP3 folder, not the Music one...

Anyway, I tried the iTunes but... its a bloated piece of sh*t! 33 MB + the addon for the W800 handling? No way! I'd rather go with the DbPowerAmp and some nice add on / plug in /script to make it create the folders in the right structure (if DBPower... supported them )

Any other software?

Not that I know of. You could always use disc2phone and RENAME the music folder to mp3

I tried the itunes route, but found myself going back to dbpoweramp for ripping due to smaller file sizes. So what's the point in organising folders in itunes when you have to rip with something else?

So I just rip all my songs into one big folder and copy tracks to the K750 as I need them. I then take the two minutes it takes to create a personalised playlist on the handset itself.
