hi every 1 n Hi Alan........dude pls help me ya... i can surf internet on PC but i cant do chatting on Yahoo, Msn, Rediff.......... i 've downloaded the latest messengers.......pls get some trick for this......again i am getting speeds of arround 5-6kbps.......pls tell me how to increase the speed.......as others in this thread are getting 40 kbps..... ia m using nokia 6021, which is edge enable.........pls reply.... thank you......

Here is my opinion. Lets exclude mo since it is absolute full internet and there aint any port blocking involved in it. Now lets consider the other gprs plans . . . Airtel live and nop. Both of them use the same ip address and the same port 8080. So i assume that the port 8080 is always open regardless of the gprs plan. The only thing the Airtel server gotta do is to check the url of the Airtel live subscribers to see if the url is pointing outside their portal and then send the access denied page. So i believe the firewall has nothin to do here. Besides firewall are foolproof and cannot be hacked by pooling excess traffic. They work in a sequential manner and extra traffic would be queued and dealt with sequentially. So i believe the problem gotta be with the Airtel proxy which checks the url. Alternately this type of error could be caused if any of the Airtel servers or proxies relies on UDP protocol rather than TCP for its communication.
This is my opinion guys but am still uncertain. . .

I think you are getting very lower speed. To be able to login to the messengers, you should have atleast 30kbps. How much signal you get from Airtel tower(BST)? & where u have checked the gprs speed(I mean in which site?) I think you know the difference b/w kbps & KBps

I think u r lucky as u get net through mms APN. Please note that the 115kbps is not the connection speed. Its the port speed. If u are getting 4-5KBps then its normal. Please multiply the speed u r getting with 8. That will give u speed in "kbps". By the way, have u configured the proxy settings in messengers? Yahoo has bug which cause problems in IE. So delete all cookies and try again.

Talking about solutions for Airtel, if it was me to find one, I would have simply seperated the LIVE! and MO server....
If they use another server for LIVE!, which runs a web server s/w on it and having all the contents of LIVE! stored on its HDD(we know, it's not much), there wont be any need for the real Internet connected to that server. Once there is no internet connection on Live! server, what ever we do, we gets only the contents of Live!, may be free downloads if we hack onto it....

This is for the guys who can access full wap on their sony ericsson
phones but cannot configure the opera mini (java version).I dont know
if this has been posted before.But i saw some guys having trouble with
the opera mini.So i decided to share my method.
i am using k700i and had the same problem.I connect to the net using
Spartan's Method 2 (live streaming).Then when i exit the browser to go
to Opera Mini,the connection is lost and opera mini returns an error
message even if i am accessing the airtel live homepage.The problem is
that sony ericsson doesnt have an 'Always On' GPRS feature.
Later i found out this.
Step 1-First of all u must be having full wap on your phone.I got this
by spatans method 2.
Step 2-Now go to operamini homepage http://mini.opera.com/#menu.Make a bookmark of this page.(In this method you will have to go to this page
every time you want to open the operamini)
Step 3-Click download opera mini.The file is about 100kb.Now the phone
shows 2 options,Download & Information.Select Download.
Now opera mini will get downloaded and will ask whether to be installed
in application or games.i chose applications. After that ,it will ask whether to start now.
SELECT YES.Opera mini is started and is ready to use.
You can access the entire net in it(because we havent exited the
browser and the connection is still live).And by that I mean the real
http sites (rendered vertically) and not the wap.
But you cannot access the wap sites or download any kind of files by opera mini.
Next time you want to use Opera,go to the Opera bookmark you made and
click download.It will show 2 options,Download & Information.Select
Download.THIS TIME IT ASKS 'DO YOU WANT TO REPLACE OPERA MINI' .
SELECT 'NO'.Then (SURPRISE),it asks DO YOU WANT TO START OPERA MINI?
SELECT YES.Thus Opera gets started and you no longer have to download
it again and again each time you use it.
This is my 1st posting.Those who couldnt use opera on SE phones please
try this out and give feedback.
Last but not least i havent thanked Spartan for letting us into the
world of free GPRS.i didnt even post a thank you as i was too lazy to
register in esato.
So i am using this oppurtunity to thank Spartan,the guru of free

Yes. The idea is correct. The best method to stop is separate LIVE! and Airtel Online(NOP) gateway and put A Live! contents on a separate server which doesn't have real(full) internet connection!

Use the same proxy and port dude. 100.1.200.99 and 8080 . Under gprs modem settings change the default apn to Airtelmms.com and it will still connect.

I didn't use any extra init commands at all. It just works. By the way i have only tested it on a nokia 3230 . Am not sure bout se phones. Will let ya know once i test it. By the way, spartan's method 2 is working like a charm for me. With just Airtel live and a streamin mobile you can access whole internet. Even opera mini works
. This guy spartan is a real genius i must agree.

Here in TN, they are offering free login and usage of yahoo messenger until 14th. They have announced that they will charge it from 14th.... ok i ll mention all the steps how i got the Spartan`s method 2 to work for me. I tried it on my se w550i and i think it should work on nokia too.
1)Create 2 data accounts, (both with airtel live settingsi.e, airtel live and airtel stream)
2) make the first account(airtel live) as the active profile
3) Under streaming settings , set the second account (airtel stream) as the active profile.
4) now just visit the airtel portal on ur phone`s wap browser and navigate to the live streaming page
5) click on cnbc or aajtak stream link and then wait till it loads in ur media player
6) now exit the media player and try browsing any site outside airtel portal and IT WILL WORK!
Tip for using Opera mini or any other java application:
Configure the java applications to use the airtel live data account. Opera mini works but very often throws an error message("an error occurred"). But upon clicking ok and retrying repeatedly, the pages load in it. There is a better way to do this... when opera throws an error, just browse any page on ur wap browser and then return to opera mini and click ok and retry, and it will load instantly. But this method is only effective in the latest sony ericsson phones and s60 phones as they let you minimize java applications. On a nokia 6230, its rather not possible. And thereby 6230 users have to try repeatedly when the error pops up and the page will load eventually.
It would be gr8 if others can post their experiences using Spartan`s method 2 ......

can anyone tell me how to use net on my pc through my Nokia 7250i phone. I have already created two accounts in phone and followed the below steps:
1) Activate Airtel Live!
2) Create TWO Airtel gprs data accounts (yep TWO) and select the
FIRST as the active profile.
3) Connect your mobile to the PC (or Laptop) and install the driver for
your mobile's modem.
4) Create a new dial-up connection using the NEW CONNECTION
WIZARD as follows
Connecting Device : Your mobile's modem
ISP Name : Airtel (or anything you like)
Phone Number : *99#
Username and Password : blank
5) Configure your browser and download manager to use the proxy
100.1.200.99 and port 8080.( My advice is to use Opera since you
can browse both wap and regular websites)
6) Connect to the dial-up account. You will be connected at 115.2
kbps (but remember, that is a bad joke).
7) Pick up your mobile and try to access any site. You will get "Access
Denied..."(except for Airtel Live!). IT DOES NOT MATTER.
Keep the mobile down.
8 ) On the PC ( or Laptop) open your browser, enter any address ,
press ENTER and.......WAIT
9) After a few seconds the page will start to load and you have the
WHOLE internet at your disposal.

Setting which has to be done on PC/LAPTOP.
1) Control Panel---->
Internet Options ------->
Connections --->
Settings -->Use automatic configuration script Address [AT+CGDCONT=2,ip,"airtelfun.com" ]
--> Proxy Server--> Use a proxr server for this connection
Address[100.1.200.99] Port [8080]
Lan Settings-->Use automatic configuration script
Address[AT+CGDCONT=2,ip,"airtelfun.com"]
Proxy Server--> Use a proxr server for your LAN
Address[100.1.200.99] Port [8080]
But when I try to connect, it gives error "PPP Link Protocol terminated...." and on phone it says "Subscribe to GPRS first".
I have already subscribed to GPRS and checked the SIM on 6600 for connectivity successfully. I am able to run AIRTEL Live on my phone besides accessing Yahoo Mail services.
Please suggest how to configure Nokia 7250i for using Net through PC. I am using data cable.

guyz i got a problem.

but when i try to connect the connection didnt dial my modem.my set is T610.
i connected through bluetooth dongle.and i install the bluetooth dial up modem drivers.
i use the bluetooth dialup modem for dialing.but got this message below:
"692:there was a hardware failure in the modem."
can anyone of u tell me how to solve this problem???

Did you forget to go to dial up properties and select the 'connect using bluetooth modem ' ?This happened to me.
Guys ,is anyone able to use kazaa in spartans GPRS ?
I know kazaa is full of spyware.But i desparately wanted to finish a download.I configured that supernode registry entry but its still not working.
Kazaa Lite K++ is also not working.
BTW what is SOCKS5 Proxy ?Kazaa doesnt have an http proxy setting.Only this sock5.
DOes airtel have a sock5 proxy address ???????
