Airtel is becoming worst day by day. They have removed free sms facility from student cards in Karnataka. Even I was also shocked by their decision. Now Airtel is simply useless.

Now BSNL again changed the rules of CDMA 250 unlimited plan. You must be a rural subscriber. If you are, then you do not have to pay anything. Just give a application. They will give you a fixed wireless handset(like reliance),an antenna and data cable. Thats all. You are in. You will get a bill of Rs.300/- (including service tax) and 20 calls free/month.
Why to take tension behind this useless Airtel GPRS?? Its better to go for an alternative.

Yes dude. You are so right. Mobile office has become so slow these days that i dont even get decent speed on its edge network even at late nights and early morning . The max i get on any edge network here is 6 - 8 KBps . Whereas i find hutch gprs extremely fast. . But it costs 19 bucks per day.

i dunno if its available in karnataka. In tn, i can activate 24 hrs hutch gprs by sending a sms and 19 bucks will be deducted from my balance. alternatively this can also be activated by doing a recharge for 19 rs at a hutch shop

Dude. . I think these changes can be seen throughout d country. I would like to ask d north mo users to check their ip by visiting www.formyip.com and compare it with d ip assigned to d comp. This can be seen in the dial up connection status window.
For me, both d ip s are d same which means my ip is a real internet ip

Airtel live / NOP is free. This is for Airtel Karnatake.
Can we browse the net using the mobile (K750i) as modem with NOP or AO (Airtel online) ?

Yes. Now also sms is charged at 10ps/msg. Msgs are free for only new student cards(less than 6 months old. For next 6 months only).
Now I'm interested on "Airtel Manipal Student Offer". Is anyone here from Manipal? I want some details about this offer.

hey ppl,
after being fed up with the poor speeds of airtel MO, i have now subscribed for sify WiFi broadband. Its a lil expensive but thats the only option i got since wired broadband is out of reach to my place coz of a damn railway track passing nearby. The speeds are SUPERB!!! I get a real 256 Kbps constantly(32KBps) and at times it goes upto 512kbps. Besides since it is WiFi broadband ,i have d freedom to carry my laptop to most places in my city and have access to internet.
Cost :
Installation charges : 4000/-
This includes a usb wireless lan adapter and a signal booster extension(if thats needed)..
If u have a WiFi enabled laptop, then neither of these is needed.
But i sometimes use this usb wifi adapter to have a wireless lan network with my brother`s laptop and share internet using wingate.
Monthly charges for Unlimited 256kbps+ plan = 1122/- (i ve subscribed for this)
There are cheaper plans based on volume & time limit also, and there is some night free surfing plan too.
Installation is done in a flash as there is no cabling needed and they dont ask for any address proof or anything. Its like a prepaid internet. And they offer dynamic IPs too!!!
